Love this product. It exfoliates where I need it and leaves my skin so soft. Never dries me out and works well under my makeup. I use it twice daily with great results.

White, use NC30 in MAC, normal-oily skin.

I have to say I LOVE this product. It exfoliates so much better than any scrub I've ever used. I use it in the morning and at night. It nicely gets rid of the "flakies" on my cheeks and allows for better, more even coverage of my foundation. It brings out my skins own glow (which I didnt know I had). It gets rid of my blackheads and funny enough it helps with my whiteheads and cystic acne. I've been on antibiotics and Accutane and I still have pimples. I've used topical prescription acne products and still had pimples. This product has helped to bring down all of those without the irritation that prescription medications had (some ppl experience irritation with BHA products). The only way to make this better is if it came good sun protection, but maybe that's asking too much :P

I bought this based on the comments of one of my friends. The first couple of times, this worked just fine, but then my skin began to peel badly. It's too drying for me. I have combination/oily skin but sometimes it's de-hydrated so I need more moisture. If I use this moisturizer more than 2 days in a row, it dries out my skin and makes it feel itchy.

The consistency is very light, almost liquid, but it does not soak in that quickly. I had to rub and rub it again on my face. And moreover, for some reason it tends to makes tiny white patches all over.

I'm not too fond of the smell. It did not aggravate my acne but did not fight it at all. Not for me. Not going to buy this again.

DESCRIPTION OF ME Asian with a warm complexion (C3-C4 in MAC) with strong yellow undertones and some peach. Black hair. Very oily skin that is prone to breakouts.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Lotion with 2% salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid aka BHA) as its active ingredient. It is a chemical exfoliant that "unglues" the top layer of dead skin cells, which helps prevent breakouts and makes your skin feel smoother. Around $3 US at drugstores and drugstore.com. 3.4 fluid ounces/100 mL.

PACKAGING This lotion comes in a squeeze tube that stands upright. The opening where the product comes out is at the bottom. It is very sanitary and there is no need to shake the container to get the last few drops out.

CONSISTENCY This lotion has a thin consistency. It is not creamy.

APPLICATION The directions on the bottle indicate that a thin layer of this lotion should be applied one to three times daily. I, on the other hand, apply it twice a day after I wash my face. However, if you have sensitive skin or this is your first time using chemical exfoliants, I suggest that you apply only once a day or even less.

The actual application is very easy. Squeeze a blob of lotion onto your hand and spread across your skin. It sinks in quite quickly and it does not leave a whitish cast or an oily residue for long.

MOISTURIZING PROPERTIES This lotion is actually my only moisturizer. It immediately makes my skin soft and, in the morning, makes it even softer because of its exfoliating action! However, it may actually give you drier skin at first. I will discuss this later.

EXFOLIATING/ACNE FIGHTING PROPERTIES As I have said before, this product does make my skin look and feel a LOT softer. Also, it has been such a key product in my battle against acne. I am 18 and two years ago, my acne flared up again like I was going through puberty! I honestly don't know what caused it to start but after some research, I decided to use a combination of liquid cleanser, benzoyl peroxide and 2% BHA. Clearasil Acne Fighting Moisturizer fit the bill (it has been recommended by Paula Begoun too). I can honestly say that it has helped tremendously. Not only is my skin on the mend, but it feels so much more soft and smooth than it has ever been.

IRRITATION Of course, nothing this good is completely perfect. There is a high likelihood that you will experience some irritation for the first few weeks using a 2% BHA. I did not experience any irritation with Clearasil only because it is not my first BHA product. I first used Paula Begoun's 2% BHA liquid (which I no longer use because Clearasil is just as effective and MUCH cheaper) and that product gave me tight, dry and flaky skin for two weeks. It was extremely surreal for me to experience since I have had very oily skin as long as I could remember. However, after that two week hump, my skin started to feel the wonderful effects of an effective BHA product. I cannot guarantee that you will go through the same thing (for better or for worse) but I'm just warning ya. I know how hard it is to have constant breakouts and I would hate for someone out there to give up on this potentially miraculous product because of the initial irritation.

OVERALL This has become one of my absolute staples. I would be very, very unhappy if this was ever discontinued. I am so loyal to it that I bought five tubes last year. Now that I am down to two, I reordered not five, not six, not seven but TEN of these babies. So, clearly, I chose "yes" for "Would you buy this product again?" ;-) I always recommend it whenever someone asks for a good BHA product.

I love this moisturizer. I tend to get very bad breakouts, followed by a period of bad dryness. I love this moisturizer because it DOESN'T break me out. I haven't noticed my skin being any better acne-wise with its use, but my skin DOES look healthier, not flakey, makeup goes on smoother, etc. My best results have been with using this during the day, and a BP treatment for drying up pimples at night (wow that just sounds SO glamourous)

As for the texture... I like it a lot! Its very watery, so it's easy to squeeze too hard and have too much come out, but once you get the hang of it, a little bit goes SUCH a long way... I find this absorbs really nicely without leaving that greasy feeling. The container is perfect, too.

Seems to be discontinued...no loss. Paula Begoun gave this a good review, and I usually agree with her reviews, but this product was a real let down. It was greasy, and it did not seem to exfoliate at all- even though the 2% and pH were right on (according to Paula). Maybe mine was really old and has gone bad- I think in Canada, products with BHA are supposed to have an expiry date. Not even close to Olay Daily Renewal Creme.

I love this, use it only at night as it has no spf. I have very oily skin, breakout prone everywhere, and tend to scrub it really hard, leading to it feeling dry and tight sometimes. This soaks in and I doesn't make me have the rebounds. The only place I can find this is drugstore.com. I paid $3.50 for a 3.4 fluid ounce (100 ml) tube. Contains 2% salicylic acid, and I have not experienced any dryness. I tend to use a grape sized squirt to cover my face, neck and chest, and it sinks into my skin in about 5 minutes, which is not too bad for me. It's cheap, does what I want, and I only have hormonal eruptions now, unless I'm trying some new cosmetic. This is really a great find for me, if you have oily, acne prone skin I highly recommend trying this. Moisturizes without breaking me out.

DESCRIPTION: Moisturizer with 2% beta hydroxy acid (salicylic acid, specifically). This product chemically exfoliates the skin to prevent dead cell build up that may contribute to skin problems. Comes in an upright squeeze tube. Slightly watery. Contains a noticeable flowery fragrance. Approximately $3.99 for 3.4 fluid ounces.

One of my HG's! It makes my skin soft and smooth. No irritation, no drying, no breakouts. It is a lot cheaper than Paula Begoun's BHA and was at one point widely available at Target, Walmart and other stores that have drugstore lines. I hope they don't discontinue!

a little goes a loooong way. it felt like there was a layer of water on my skin at times! the bottle was nice though. i didnt like that it stayed in its full shape (most bottles become flat where there is no more product) so i was never sure how much was left, and i couldnt squeeze it out. i didnt notice a difference. wont repurcahse at all!!

I didnt really enjoy this moisturizer. I bought it because It contained 2% salicylic acid-where as most drugstore brands only contain .5%. After reading the ingredients, I noticed it contained mineral oil, I immediately stopped using it. How is this supposed to prevent acne when it contains mineral oil? YUKK!

Mineral oil and silicone, bad bad BAD!!! If you get little bumps (like pimples, but no head and they don't hurt), it is caused by mineral oil in your products. I much prefer Aveeno's SPF 15 moisturizer- if only it had some BHA!
This product feels ok going on, but it makes me greasy after a few hours, and it gives me the Chin/Forehead Bumps.

I've been using this for about 8 months. I like it. I don't love it. I like it because it isn't greasy, it hasn't caused me to break out, and it is relatively light. I don't love it because I think it smells a medicinal, the packaging is ugly, and when you squeeze it out of the tube, you tend to get a large glob, which is wasteful. I would buy this again if it was on sale, but I wouldn't purposely go out of my way to look for it.

This dual action moisturizer contains 2% Salicylic Acid to fight acne. It has a creamy but gel-like texture and smells a little bit floral - clean and light. It hydrates my oily face without feeling greasy. Milder and works better on my skin than Paula's Choice 2% BHA lotion or solution.
Ingredients: water, PPG-14 butyl ether, glycerin, cetyl alcohhol, stearyl alcohol, mineral oil, polyquaternium-37, dimenthicone, cyclomethicone, dimethiconol, steareth-21, triethanolamine, fragrance, steareth-2, PPG-1 trideceth-6, tetrasodium EDTA

WOW!... ok been using this for a week as a last attempt in using a cheap BHA. I was very leary on this because it had mineral oil in this... (i always assumed it was bad for the skin... how ever i guess it was all hype) this does not clog my pores at all... after the very first nite of using this just about all of the little blackheads on my nose dissapeared. I use this every nite now (its way too greasy for me to use during the day, but works very well for a nite time moisturizer). I have a feeling that they are discontinuing this product as i have only been able to find it in one store, i hope this isnt the case i really love this, now i dont have to shell out 40 bucks for bioclear!!!

No matter how much I try to like this, I swear it does nothing but break me out. Maybe it's the mineral oil. It's being discontinued anyway from what I've heard.

As someone who has tried many BHAs and never had success, this is a wonderful find. I am pretty sensitive, and have always had difficulty with BHA. However, because of blackheads and clogged pores, I am always looking for one that I can use. Well...this is it. I actually think that it is the "dreaded" mineral oil that makes this workable for me. It is as if the mineral oil is protecting my skin while allowing the BHA to do its magic. It isn't overly moisturizing, but enough that I don't get dried out. I have only been using about 2 1/2 weeks, but I am already seeing the positive results...and no breakouts (related to this anyway). I am starting to feel much better about my skin. Anyhow, I would highly recommend this to anyone who is not sensitive to mineral oil, but has sensitive skin in general. A most unexpected find. In fact, my DH looked at the tube and said, "Clearasil? You aren't a teenager!" Ha...if it makes my skin look that young again, I'll use it!

UPDATE: 5/26/04 - Still using this. In fact, I stopped for a bit to use Bioclear, but think I still like this better. I don't see much other benefits from using the Bioclear, plus I don't get the moisture that I do with the Clearasil. It is a bit tough to find, but I think I will stock up in case they are discontinuing.

Honestly, regradless of the other reviews, I personally like it alot. It makes my skin moist without triggering further breakouts. However, I think it would be much better if it has SPF.

I had purchased this item based on the fact that it contains 2% salicylic acid. It is a low cost BHA product that has received good reviews from other MUA and Paula B.

Ingredients: Water, PPG-14 butyl ether, glycerin, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, MINERAL OIL, polyquaternium-37, dimethicone, cyclomethicone, dimethiconol, steareth-21, triethanolamine, fragrance, steareth-2, PPG-1 trideceth-6, tetrasodium EDTA

As you can see from the ingredient list it contains Mineral Oil (all caps) and several silicone products (words ending in cone).

I did do a test on my forehead first. However then I used it all over my T-zone. I developed small bumps and white heads. I am not sure if it is the fragrance, the silicones or most likely the mineral oil.

It does not feel that greasy going on. If you decide to try this Please, PLEASE do a test patch for a couple of days before deciding.

It could work for some and it is really cheap....but be careful.
UPDATE: August 2004 I was getting a monthly breakout of whiteheads, rashy looking along my jawline & would elimate new products. I have moved on to other BHA products for my face.
BUT I AM using this on my chest & back and it seems to help. Overall rating changed from 1 to 3. I would consider repurchasing as a cheap BHA product for body.

March/Summer 2005 I am using this on my back & it seems to help. I have also used on face once in while (if my usual product is not handy) & had no problems. Also the PH is correct for exfoliating.
