Best product I have ever used. I love this scrub! It works well and smells so good, not like gingerbread but the best scent ever. It smells like ginger and lemon and over all just fresh. I smell good for a while and it gives very soft skin. I recommend this!

This is a great basic body scrub. Not oily at all, doesn't melt in the shower, and smells really clean. Next time I might try a more interesting smell though.

I agree with the previous reviewer, this smells like ginger and lemon. It's light and pretty, but not gingerbread. I like it, though. The salt particles are fine and densely packed, so a little goes a long way. It is not as oily as other scrubs, but still softens skin well. It didn't sting or grate on my skin at all when rubbing it around, but did a good job at getting the rough patches off. Great scrub, just not as Christmas-y or gingerbread-y as I was hoping. $25 at Sephora, which is not cheap, but worth it. Good scrubs seem expensive these days, anyway. I'd buy this again.

Lovely scrub for chilly mornings. I first got this scrub as a Christmas gift last year and I loved it from the first time I used it. The scrub has a spicy ginger scent with a hint of lemon. Not gingerbread, which is somewhat disappointing to me, but still very nice and invigorating. I love the way the scrub gives me a warm sensation as I rub it onto my skin. My knees and elbows are always left smooth after I use this product. I also like to gently scrub my hands every once in awhile to exfoliate them. The scrub is neither too gentle nor too harsh, nor does it disolve too quickly as you use it. One of the best Philosophy products out there!

LOVE the gingerbread man!!! This is a must have for every fall/winter! It is such a comforting, yet refreshing scent. The scrub itself is just right. It does not leave you with an oily mess, and it probably leaves my skin the smoothest/softest out of all the scrubs I have tried out there. Packaging is adorable and the product should last a long time. Note that this scent is not really the smell of gingerbread (No sugar/baked good type of smell).....Its just the perfect scent of ginger =)

This has a gorgeous scent, and leaves my skin perfectly soft, clean and polished. Some salt and sugar scrubs seem to dissolve to quickly to be effective, or leave an icky, oily residue on my skin. Not so with the ones I've used from Philosophy, which also have adorable packaging. I did deduct one lippy because the ingredient list contains some toxic items.

PRICE : $25 for 20 oz
WHERE TO PURCHASE : Sephora, Nordstrom, skinstore.com, philosophy.com and various department stores and boutiques
OTHER NOTES : I first bought this back in 2002 and it was wonderful! Well worth the money. It made my skin like silk and the shower a very enjoyable experience. The smell is wonderful, like ginger ale and brown sugar! It got all of my dead skin off and my elbows were smooth for the first time ever. The formula must have been changed, because the last two times I purchased it (after years of not using it), it's totally different than it was in 2002! It does NOTHING. At all. I might as well rub a piece of paper on my skin. I'm finding a lot of Philosophy products are not the same as they used to be. Maybe something to do with Christina selling the company? They're probably using cheaper formulations and ingredients. Don't waste your money on this! Get some large sea salt, cane sugar, brown sugar and add a few drops of oil (like jojoba) and call it a day. Or Google "dry body brushing"! My (new) favorite way to exfoliate my body skin. And free (minus the brush).
INGREDIENTS : Sea Salt, Glycerin, Polyglyceryl-10 Dipalmitate, Fragrance, Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Plankton Extract, Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp) Extract, Algae Extract, Fucus Vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract, Caramel, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

The smell is alright, not like a cookie, more like just plain ginger. Not a gingerbread man. But I'm alright with the smell of ginger, it's very spicy, and the scent doesn't last very long which i appreciate. The scrub is very effective, and leaves my skin very soft. I especially like to use it before i shave my legs. It leaves them much softer.

I do not like the scent of this scurb. It doesn't smell like gingerbread at all. In fact, I think it smells like Coke or Pepsi! The grit is fantastic and the fact that it is not oily is a big plus. There are way better scrubs out there, that cost a lot less and perform much better.

I use my gingerbread man twice a week and my body loves it!
It keeps my body very soft and I feel great afterward. You can feel the difference right away as you put on the body lotion.
Worth buying!!

Not exactly the scent I was imagining when I first opened the jar, but I grew to like the scent. I can only describe it as soothing, not the warm gingerbread cookie smell. The scrub itself is nothing unique but it does its work. My skin did feel softer after using the scrub. It feels a bit unsanitary because it's just a huge tub that you unscrew the lid off of and scoop out however much you need. I avoid going for a second scoop and always make sure my hands are clean and dry. The tub holds quite a bit and lasts pretty long. I would repurchase just because I like the scent, it does its job and I haven't really ventured out to try anything else. It's my lil luxurious bit of pampering.

I absolutely love this scrub! I have repurchased it many times! It is the perfect texture - highly granulated, not at all oily. It leaves my skin really really soft and I love the smell - not really gingerbread, but a lovely ginger ale type scent. I use it once a week and on dry skin before I get in the shower - perfect!

This is the first salt scrub I have purchased & after trying sugar scrubs previously, and most recently, Davies Gate Walnut Scrub, I thought I would give a salt based one a go.
Gingerbread Man comes in a HUGE tub, and is quite thick but not at all greasy. But if your skin isn't properly moistened, then it's a little difficult to get this one going, as it needs the water so it can dissolve a little & make it easier to scrub with. I found that the feeling on my skin was similar to that of a sugar scrub (fairly coarse texture) & a little more abrasive than the Davies Gate. It does make my skin a little red initially, but nothing major. And my skin is very smooth after.
Fragrance wise - as others have mentioned - not like gingerbread. It's more of a citrus smell - much like L'Oreal's Body tonic sugar scrub. But I quite like the fragrance - very fresh. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with this - I think with that size tub, it will last for ages. So great value for money.

Great scrub, non-oily and leaves my skin very soft. Will last ages so great value, and doesn't leave a mess in the shower.
Only thing is I don't detect any warming action and, as many people have commented, it doesn't smell of gingerbread! Not unpleasant scent, like Origins' Ginger or citrussy ginger ale, but not what I wanted.
Will try another Philosophy scrub again, but in a different scent.

Okay, I never knew how soft my skin could be until I started using this scrub. I've been using it at least once every two weeks for the past year and I could not live without it. It's so great to use before a hot shower, and you can notice the difference right away, especially when you apply body lotion afterwards. Just use it on dry skin before you start your shower/bath for the most exfoliation.

This stuff rocks my world and I don't believe in spending money on scrubs. It's a fantastic salt scrub that has a great gingery scent (like the Origins ginger stuff, sort of like ginger soda) and has a warm hot heat to it when you use it. It leaves you smooth and actually moisturized! Hard to believe but it's true. The scent lasts on your skin all day. Plus, it doesn't leave an oily gunky mess in your tub. I love this stuff.

I just finished up my tub of Gingerbread Man, and it took me one whole year! That's with weekly scrubs of my legs and arms...such a value. This scrub is effective yet gentle (not too harsh), and since it's water-based, it easily rinses from the tub. One note: this scrub smells more like Origins Ginger line than actual gingerbread (there's no sweetness or sugary notes here).
Just for fun, here's what the back label of the product says: "he cleans, he soothes, he caresses, he pampers, and he loves unconditionally. he takes baths and showers with you while always smelling positively delicious. no late nights at the office or sunday waste-away football weekends for this man. he is strictly a girl's guy. the gingerbread man will nourish your body and soul. he is a gift every girl deserves, at any age whether she is single or married."

I don't like the gingerbread man scent at all, that being said i do like how well this product exfoliates, especially my feet! Come to think of it now, i'll probably use the rest of my gingerbread man body souffle on my feet! The amount of product for the money made this purchase even more worth it. It took a long time for me to use up the huge tub the scrub comes in. This scrub is thick and spreads evenly over the skin. Very good for elbows and knees too.

Very nice product! One of my top two scrubs (the other being the now-discontinued Pure Simplicity Cocoa scrub). I adore the thick, non-oily texture, and the salt is scrubby without being harsh. It leaves my skin super smooth and lightly scented, although I do need a lotion afterwards. The scent is fantastic, a fresh ginger similar to the Origins Ginger products. It's warm in the winter and fresh in the summer -- the perfect scrub! And on top of that, it comes in a HUGE tub.
