I really wanted to like this. It got a complimentary, solid three-star review in Turin & Sanchez' Guide to Perfumes. Several well-known fragrance bloggers have sung its praises. It's available everywhere, the packaging is lovely, it's been around for over 20 years-- a respectable showing all around.
However, I just can't stand this fragrance on my skin. I've tried and tried, because I do like many of the notes (particularly the sultry white-floral top and the oakmoss base). I can even see how some women might wear this well. On me, it takes on a pungency not unlike the chemicals in an airplane toilet. There's more than a touch of urine about it, as well.
What's more, White Diamonds has a cloyingly artificial quality about it that takes over my body rather than meshing with my chemistry. Red Door is the same way; in fact, WD reminds me a lot of Red Door. In both cases, I get a pounding headache and the feeling of having been blitzed by cans of Glade.
Maybe I just don't get along well with late '80s/early '90s floral powerhouses. Particularly those that are now cheaply produced and mass-marketed. Regardless, I must sadly part ways with the cute sparkly bottle and its impressive lineup of matching body products. I can only hope that women who do wear White Diamonds aren't fooling themselves-- if it doesn't smell good on someone, it REALLY doesn't smell good on them.

This fragrance smells beautiful on my Mum!!! I compliment her whenever she wears this, so I shouted myself a bottle. Was impressed with the price, its very affordable. But it smells completely different on me!!! Was disappointed, cos it wasn't nice on me at all. Mum was happy though, cos I gave my brand new bottle to her :-)

This perfume is strong. My boyfriend got it for me for Christmas and at first I liked it a lot but then I noticed whenever I wore it it would give me a headache. Even when I wore 1 spray I'd end up getting a headache, it is very strong. So my b/f and I took it back and got another perfume that is less strong and overpowering.

This perfume smells very classy and elegant, so I only wear it if I am going somewhere nice and dressed nice. When I first tried it, I hated it- way too strong, annoying and headache inducing! However, I gave it a second chance and used the roller ball version and dabbed it very lightly on my wrists, and it works out better that way. Very beautiful fragrance when it is put on lightly. I have to agree with another reviewer, that it reminds me of Chanel no 5, it's just more affordable.

I couldn't find the right perfume for me all my life until... NOW! I'm in love with it! It's insanely elegant, classy, mysterious and very 'American' like! It is exactly the kind of perfume that I imagine E. Taylor could have designed! Love it. The classic, universal fragrance that tells a life story behind it... *wink*

I bought this fragrance purely because I absolutely LOVE Elizabeth Taylor, I agree with the other comments in regards to it smelling quite 'old' - it reminds me of chanel no5, very strong & bold but classy at the same time. I find I can only stand two squirts, one of my neck & one on my wrist. anymore would be way to over powering! It drys down into a nice floral scent. Its definitely for the older woman! However, I do like it. I wont go out of my way to wear it everyday but It will be used. I doubt Ill buy another bottle as It is a little strong for me but its still a nice fragrance & the bottle itself is very appealing, it looks very pretty standing on my dresser. R.I.P Liz x

As a teenager, I actually liked this product! I only like 2 perfumes this and "Fame" by Lady Gaga. White Diamonds to me does initially come off strong but then after that it tones down into a subtle scent. It's floral but not some cheapy, cheapy stuff you get. I started off with the Dollar Tree "White Diamonds" knock off and liked that one, so for this Christmas my mother bought me this. You can definitely know the difference as this lasts while the other one fades away after a while.
Now if only "Fame" was this price then I would buy that! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to give off an elegant/chic air. Hopefully it helps make a good first impression!

Another scent I didn't purchase for myself. My 80 year old uncle bought me this for Christmas. My first thought was "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" But, I would never voice that. I gracefully accepted it and thanked him for the amazing gift.
It's a LOUD white floral that dries down into a musky floral. Kind of reminds me of hairspray. Maybe it's the aldehydes?
It reminds me of an older Aunt with huge hair and a smoked too many cigarettes voice. Loud and kind of in your face. I'll keep it around and wear it when I know I will see Uncle. But not for everyday wear for me.

I tried this on at kohls because everybody overhyps this fragrance, sprayed it on me and I wish I hadn't lol it was like a rush of grandma's coming to pinch you! LOL I have to say it smells better than her passion's tho that one was just NASTY to me at least, gotta say white dia does last all day but not my style. I will stick with paris hilton, britney spears, and jessica simpson... sorry but this is TOO mature for my taste...

I thought this smell was mediocre. When I tested it, my friend and the shop assistant thought it was beautiful and said it smelt like "being on holiday in the sun".
I disagreed. Whilst it does smell rather luxurious and expensive, it's too bold and strong for my liking. It's the kind of fragrance that makes you sneeze!
It also smells a bit too vintage - which may be perfect for your gran - but not so much a young lady in her prime.
I was going to buy this for my mum but I may opt for Liz's 'Violet Eyes' instead, as I believe it smells sweeter.

Each to their own opinion, especially with perfumes as we all smell things differently and our own natural chemicals can greatly affect the scent.
I love this, I do not consider this an old lady perfume at all (I'm 21). I have never smelled this on anyone other than my mother and she started wearing it at age 23 all the way to 34. She passed away in 2005 so I have a bottle to spritz every now and then to remember her.
On my skin it is potent until it settles hours later, however on my clothes it smells divine and elegant. Exactly how it smelled on my mother :)
Bottle is gorgeous but price in NZ is HORRIBLE. $145 for 100mL though I got this on sale yesterday for $69.
Make sure you smell this in person and don't play a gamble with an online purchase!!
I only use this in my clothes drawers to make my clothes smell fresher and it doesn't "clash" with my other HG perfumes.

According to Forbes Magazine, "White Diamonds" is the most successful scent ever launched by a celebrity. I am not ashamed to admit that I own a bottle of this, but God knows I own a bottle of just about everything. And no, I am not yet a member of the AARP. Yup..old lady in a bottle. The smell you remember when you took the pink ribbon-topped powder puff from it's base and annointed yourself in the white stuff. What saves "White Diamonds" for me is the dry down..it's soft, unoffensive, even inviting. Grandmom morphs into you cool, approachable great aunt. If you already own "White Linen" you really don't need "White Diamonds." I'll keep both for days when I am feeling a bit nostalgic for the days when this was what perfume was all about. Could they have even envisioned a scent like "Angel" being all the rage years later?

Elizabeth Taylor was a stunning woman, loved her in Cleopatra. But unfortunately I have nothing but negative memories of this fragrance. My mom used to wear this until I begged her to use another fragrance. I think she started using Sunflower afterwards. Still not my cup of tea, but better than White Diamonds.

I've known about this perfume since I was born. My grandma's been wearing it forever. I don't mean this in a rude way, but this is the definition of an old lady's perfume. It's very musky (which I can't stand). Musky scents used to be in style back in the day, that's probably the reason why this generally attracts an older crowd. Musky scents nauseate me & give me headaches, which is what this perfume does. The bottle itself is beautiful. I have a bottle (that I've never used) that is solely kept on my dresser because I like the way the bottle looks so much. If I were to rate this perfume based on just the packaging alone, it would be a 5/5. But, I can't get over the scent.
I do like it in a sense, for the fact that the smell gives me a memory of my grandma. Every time I smell the bottle that I have, I get a sense of her back.

I just love White Diamonds. I know this fragrance doesn't get a lot of love, but I think it's beautiful---a lush, creamy, musky white floral that's perfect to waft up from the cleavage.
I wear the parfum. It's womanly, full-bodied and complex. It surrounds me with jasmine, tuberose and hints of violet. There's musk, too, which makes this slightly naughty. However, it's a clean musk, so this fragrance is still ladylike---just not innocent.
I could see this working for a nighttime ball, an afternoon tea or just out shopping. Any time you want to feel feminine and classy. The silage and longevity are excellent.

A light powdery smell, not too sweet or overpowering. Been wearing this for a few years now, seems to mesh well with my body chemistry. Not old ladyish if you ask me, but then again I'm not really a fan of those fruity scents that a lot of girls my age seem to like.
