I'm 56 and my skin can flake. I found it works nicely if I put some coconut oil on and then brush. I use circular motions because I think it gives me a more even exfoliation. Have read in natural remedy health related books that it does contribute to removing toxins. As for cellulite, I haven't seen much difference. I only do it once a week but do it very vigorously (it takes time) and I use lotion after showers. I've found this provides great results.

For reference, I have dehydrated-normal skin and eczema.

I tried dry brushing using a natural bristle brush that I received as a gift. I tried both the long strokes towards my heart and the circular motions, over a period of about a month. I did it daily for 5-10 minutes, and did not notice any remarkable improvement in my skin texture/softness, health, or overall well being.

Although I normally use a Salux towel, for the purposes of trying out dry brushing I stopped using it for a week. Dry brushing did keep my elbows and knees somewhat softer than they would have been without any sort of physical exfoliation (in particular, I found the circular motions most effective for this purpose), but my Salux towel is a much easier and faster option.

For me, dry brushing was a nice calm activity and provides gentle physical exfoliation, however I think the draw is more the pampering experience than anything else. Overall, it didn't do any harm but since I didn't see or feel any benefits I removed it as a step from my routine.

I've been doing this for almost a year and I really like the results. My instructions were to use long strokes on your skin towards your heart. I do it before my shower and my skin is really soft! Don't know about the detoxing or cellulite reduction, but they would be nice bonuses. Really great for exfoliating before applying self tanner. Couldn't be easier or cheaper.

This is a technique done before bathing. You basically take a dry natural bristle brush (not one for ur hair) and start at ankle and brush in circular motions toward the heart. This will exfoliate and give u super soft skin as well as help ur body eliminate toxins and smooth or remove cellulite. Been doing thrust since I was a teen. I do this before showering at night and when I wake up in the morning my body looks amazing like I spent the day before at the gym and my skin is super soft. Google it and try it for yourself.
