I started using the Round the Clock 11 p.m. dark charcoal eyeliner a couple weeks ago, and I'm already in love. Several people have noted issues with sharpening this pencil, but I have not run into that problem at all. I use a MAC pencil sharpener that I've had for about 7 years now. A couple quick, short cranks and the pencil comes out smooth and looking just like when I bought it. I'm guessing the quality/type of sharpener is making the difference here.

PROS
--- glides on easily & smoothly
--- lasts all day (7 a.m. to midnight for me) & does not smear
--- easier & faster to use for me than using an angled brush & Fluidline by MAC, my previous favorite

CONS
--- pencil seems kind of short overall for the price
--- I seem to be going through it kind of quickly, which might make Fluidline more economical

When I first got this eyeliner fresh from ULTA, I was in LOVE with it. It makes a very clear, thin, solid black line, and I could even use it on my waterline. I was practically salivating over how perfect this eyeliner was. Then the tip, naturally, wore down, so I sharpened it to use it again...and this eyeliner is now awful. The tip is so soft it breaks and leaves clumps behind on the base of my upper lashes that are really difficult to remove and make my eyelashes feel very heavy even before mascara. It's impossible to use for a thin line, and a straight line requires a VERY steady hand, which it did not when I first got it. Considering the price, I'm sad I only got about ten days of use out of it. If I could figure out how to get it sharpened to its original state, this would definitely be 5 lippies. The pigmentation is really astounding, but the fact that I can't use it properly outweighs all the original perks.

I really thought these would be my HG eyeliners, but they are not :(.

Performance wise, they are great. They are richly pigmented and have great staying power, even on the waterline. I was so impressed when I first got them!

However, sharpening them is an issue. They are so soft that the lead breaks off and they do no keep a point. You waste a lot of product, and, eventually, I stopped using them.

I don't believe they are worth the money, even though they have great performance. Too bad.

Generally my experience with eyeliners that claim to be waterproof and long-lasting is that I need to re-apply after about 3 hours, vs. after the 1 hour my regular eyeliner lasts. Bare Escentuals Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliner, unfortunately, did not defy my expectations. It did, however, go on smoothly and produced a natural-looking fringe around my eyes. My biggest problem with this eyeliner is that it costs about $15 + taxes and the tip is literally .20 inches long, if that! There are no "reserves" to retract, and one cannot sharpen it once the tip is gone. To make matters worse, upon my second usage of it, half of this tip fell off! Now I have only .10 inches of an almost-blunt tip remaining. $15 + taxes and I will probably only get 1 1/2 weeks worth of eyeliner, out of it. I think I will stick to my regular, drug-store eyeliner--it may not claim to be waterproof but after many applications it's lasted over 2 months, so far!

I got one of these in a kit called midnight and then promptly bought a kit of just these eyeliners called Seize the Day, I was so impressed by how they went on and stayed on.

I have slightly crepey eyelids at my old age so these go on so smoothly with no skipping or tugging. The line can be smudged if you get to it fast enough but then it dries to pretty impermeable. For instance I rewashed my hair one day and my eyeshadow was gone but my liner and mascara was still intact, like no water had touched it--AMAZING!

The first one I tried was a smokey gray but then I bought the kit and it contains 5 eyeliners and a sharpener:

5 pm: smoky plum
3pm: shimmery copper
1 pm: teal
noon: navy
10 am: shimmery olive

When I first saw the colors I thought I would only like the plum but I soon fell in love with the olive and the teal. The navy and copper are only ok for my hazel eyes but I'm sure I'll use them. The plum is full size and thoughtfully so since I will probably use this the most.

Note: This formulation does contain some lecithin for those allergic to soy and avoiding gluten. I'm hoping I don't have a reaction.
