This is a review on Sephora's Matte top coat. This is the only matte top coat I have tried, so I don't know what to compare it too. I did a manicure about two weeks ago using Orly Bonder rubberized base coat, Doir Gris Montaigne, and this as a top coat. I have never, I stress never had my nail polishes last more than a couple of days, I use my hands a lot and I am not gentle about it. I have had Dior last up to Three days using a different top coat. This time it lasted five before a single chip appeared. I really wasn't expecting the lasting power of my nail polish to increase like that.
I will say that for a matte coat, I have to apply it thicker that I would a regular top coat to get the mattifying effect to be even on all nails. The first time I applied this I put what I thought was a bit too much on thh first nail and a little less on the rest. When they dried, you could see that the first nail was significantly matter than the other nails. For some reason applying a second coat didn't make the nails more matte.
I have just finished a second manicure with this, same base coat as before, Doir in Purple Revolution, then This matte top coat. It has gone much smoother and more even this second time. I really truly enjoy the matte look of a nail polish much much more than the glossed. But also, for fun, the contrast of the two, putting on a matte top coat and then adding a gloss as an accent on one nail. It's interesting. I hope this isn't a passing fad, because I love matte nail polish on my hands.
