Dr. Who fans will recognize this color as TARDIS blue, which is why I bought it. Just gorgeous. This gets me tons of compliments.

Generally, I like Essie polishes. I have quite a few. I really like the colour of this one but the formulation is problematic. It is very clumpy and it goes on streaky as well. It is very difficult to apply a nice light coat and because of this, and the clumpiness, the end result appears thick and ugly and not at all attractive. Too bad as I like the colour quite a lot but I think this one is going in the trash. I didn't buy this very long ago - a few months maybe. A few weeks back I bought the Watermelon from Essie and that formula works so much better - so it's not Essie overall, just Butler Please that I so far have had major issues with.

SIMPLY AMAZING!! This color is so unique! I love Essie polishes overall but I find this formula to be especially nice. Very creamy, super coverage and impossibly beautiful color payoff. I did one coat and a top coat, perfect! I keep my nails shorter and this looks very nice on them. Longer nails might be a bit too much of a good thing. GET IT!

Most beautiful color EVER. My favorite Essie color EVER. beautiful creamy cobalt blue. Thus color paints on with perfect coverage with 2 coats. Dries matte but that can be fixed with a good top coat. Only 3 stars bc it chips within 2 days. I am wearing it now on my toes. This is the 3rd pedi with this color & each time it chips quickly. The first time I thought it was me, maybe I painted it on too thick. But no, I prepped my nails with vinegar, pushed back the cuticles, let it dry between coats & used Seche Vite for my top coat. Three toenails are chipped in less than 48 hrs.
I will continue to purchase Essie products since I am a nail polish fiend & this brand has never let me down before. But I will look to another brand for a similar color. Wish I could make this last..........

I oriongally saw Butler Please on instagram from a few profesional nails blogs i follow and i instantly fell in love with the vibrant shade of blue. But before purchasing any type of cosmetics I always read reviews so I know I'm getting my moneys worth. I was very quickly turned off by all of the terrible reviews here and decided even though i loved the colour i would save the 10$CAN and invest in a better rated colour. A month went buy and I have to admit i was still thinking about Butler Please and how nice all the photos looked. I was at the grocery store and they had all the essie's on sale so i gave in and hoped for the best. I am so happy that I did because it totally payed off. I don't know if i was just super lucky and got a good batch of the product or they re-formulated it or something but my polish was fine. I didn't give it a 5 star rating because i did at times find it was a bit streaky but a second coat leveled it out. I also am not a fan of the fact that it dries matte (a topcoat fixes that but still), and in some light the colour doesn't come off as vibrant as it does in others. Overall i didn't have the terrible experience with this polish that others did, and i'm happy i picked it up!

This was the first Essie polish I ever bought. Not a good introduction. Such a shame, because the color is the most beautiful blue creme I have ever seen in a nail polish. It looks very similar to a discontinued it seems Essie shade called mesmerized, but I picked this one because I liked the shade slightly better.
This is streaky. I've had difficult nail polishes but this is one of my most annoying to work with in my collection. Even after three coats it was still streaky. Not good. At all. Streaky polish is nasty. On the plus side, it lasted for a week before it chipped to oblivion, hence the two stars for that and the color. I've had good Essie polish since so I wonder what's wrong with the formula on this one.

I have this, I hate it. Thick, streaky and flaked/peeled ALL OVER THE PLACE. Flakes in my hair, laptop, bag, clothes. Screw that. It's currently sitting in my nail polish box collecting dust. I found a blue from Brucci (yep, that cheap drugstore brand that doesn't chip) that's named "Luscious Lori." Lasts forever and doesn't chip! Not to mention it's like $6 cheaper. NEXT!!!!

For those of you who love this color but hate Essie's difficult formula, I am happy to tell you that this is a dupe for Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue. I would say Essie is faintly darker and has a slightly less purple tinge but it is not noticeable at all. I really could not tell them apart once applied on test strip.

Honestly, the color is amazing and it truly is unique. Looks amaaaazing on a good tanned skin. The problem I've had with this polish though is that; the polish itself is extremely thick, so it layers on thick. You definitely need a top coat because it has no shine to it and it chips in one day, maximum. I wouldn't buy it again, Essie isn't the cheapest, so I'll just finish this up.

I usually love most Essie polishes since the application is easy and the formula isn't too tricky to work with. This colour is absolutely stunning but a complete pain in the ass to apply. It's goopy, streaky, dries matte, and hard to get it even despite doing a second coat! I won't be using this again considering how time consuming it was to get it on. It still doesn't look as nice as my manicures usually turn out. Unless you're willing to put up with all the trouble, look elsewhere. This is going to disappoint.
