Amorous is a dark plum satin finish. It is also very bold, pigmented & easily buildable if you wanna go deeper. I saw a tutorial on YT w/the MUA using this lipcolor who happened to be around the same complexion as me so I decided to buy it. It just feels Blah when I apply it alone to my lips. Im still trying to figure ways to liven this shade up. The lady at the MAC counter suggested to add Viva Glam VI lipglass on top (it looks nice) but I was being cheap lol...
Guess I will go back & cop that Viva Glam lipglass!

This is dark mauve colour on me and I like it mixed with a creamier lipstick as it can be slightly drying. It a natural MBB type of lipstick for darker skins and I like it for day time use.

I do not understand why everyone loves this color. I'm NW45, and Amorous looks very muddy on me. Not neutral. Muddy. And not in a good way. I've tried it without liner, with chestnut and bittersweet liners from mac, and with a plum-colored liner (from a different brand). Either way, looks like mud. i returned it and went with mac's Plumful color which is WAY better if you're looking for a professional neutral with a pinkish/plumish tint to it. I think the undertone to amorous is way too brown. which is not good, unless that's the look you're going for. hated it!

This is another lipstick I got for fall as it's such a deep plum color that looks great for the cooler season. Its not as purple as say rebel but that's what I love about it it's a wearable red plummy shade that works with everything.

I apologize for the incoherent review, but there's not a well-articulated way to explain my love for this lipstick.
This and Creme in Your Coffee were my first MAC lipsticks, and these are still my two favourite lipsticks of all time. Amorous is the perfect deep pink/plum colour for the cooler months, and you honestly have no idea how excited I am to whip this out again now that it's nearly fall. I'm a bold lip girl, and this is just too beautiful for words. I pair it with Soar lipliner to soften it up just a little bit, and, boy, it really is lovely on the lips. It makes an absolutely stunning contrast against pale skin no matter how you wear it. I've used this as a stain and applied it straight from the bullet. Amorous has never failed me and always pulls my makeup look together.

My all time favorite lipstick! A dark reddish purple. It can look very heavy if you aren't careful to apply it correctly. I prefer using it as a stain and tap it gently on my lips. Because I'm 16, this would definitely look too mature or vampy if I applied it fully. Dramatic but not crazy on my NC20 skin.

This plum color is from their Satin collection and is great with my NW15 skin. It's not too purple. It is colorful without being too bold. I love this color because it really brightens my whole look and brings the color out in my cheeks. It is not the easiest to apply, so it takes some practice especially if you're used to more sheer or lighter colors. For daytime, I kinda tap it on my lips instead of swiping side to side that way it doesn't go on too heavy. This is a ultra creamy and long lasting lipstick. It is slightly drying as it wears off, hence the four lippies. It's a must to use it with lipliner, and I would almost suggest using a brush to apply it with since it is thick. I might try using it over chapstick to combat the drying effect.

I jadore this lipstick!! Its one of those one can easily bypass. Ive never really been a lippie person, but Ive started paying VERY close attention to mac lipsticks. And my preferred finish is satin, its not as drying as matte. Now this lipstick is for those days that u have no idea what to complete your look with. Throw it on and it pulls everything together. A must have mauve for brown girls.

Just received this color today in the mail. Love it!!! It's a mauvey-plum color. I had to keep checking the finish because it comes on like an amplified and lasts like one also. Which I love. It's a satin finish which is usually a little more shiney on my lips. The color lasts all day. I only had to touch up before leaving work since I'm going out tonight. Highly recommend it for those who love unusual colors and want their lipsticks to last most of the day.

This is a lovely mauve/plum color and I have no complaints about the color, but this particular MAC formula is very drying. I think you can find this color in other lines (Laura Mercier's Dry Rose for example) that are more moisturizing.

I'm a little shocked at the emo/goth comments this lipstick is receiving!

I have jet black hair, and pale NC25 olive toned skin, and this lipstick does not make me look goth/vampire-ish at all!

This is a gorgeous mauve/plum/wine shade, that is soft enough for day wear, and dark enough to play up for an evening look!

For a day look, I downplay my eyes with just simple mascara, and for the evening, I'll add a swipe of a slate gray liner to add drama, and update the typical pin-up look. Either way, this lipstick gives you a CHIC and high-fashion look from day to night. A well-appreciated break from the classic red lip.

LOVE this. and I will buy it again when I run out.

dark plummy mauve satin finish... the look is perfect if you stain your lips with it or use it with a balm on top.

Goes on way different than it looks in the tube. I picked this shade quickly and now regret it. It looked as though it was a medium pinky wine colour in the tube, but goes on as a dark plum colour which looks horrible with my light skin tone. Would probably go best with a darker skin tone. In terms of quality, I am not a fan of MAC lipsticks. I find them to be dry and short lived. I will not buy this one again.

My husband was out of town and wanted to buy me something so I quickly went online and chose from the shades. (Not the best idea!) I was very disappointed when I saw that Amorous was a dark, plummy, a bit too purple color. It's just way too dark. If I put it on too thick, I look like I'm from "The Adam's Family." Although if I put it on lightly, it can look like a lipstain that can be wearable for me.

I've bought this colour a few times. It's a medium, pinky mauve. I'm a (strictly) cool toned ppp with a lot of natural pigment to my lips...I put Amorous on, blot, put some balm over top of it and get a MLBB look. So...some call this dark and mysterious, but for me it's the closest to a "nude" lip I'm ever going to get. Will continue to repurchase as I've tried several other brands & similar colours never to find one as good as this.

Wow -- what a sexy dark cool mauve color! I love the creamy consistency and the semi-matte "satin" finish.
I love this so much more than Mac Captive that I wound up returning.

Beautiful dark mauve/plum stain. Reminds me alot of LM Mulberry Stain. Provides a sexy wine stained lips look. The satin finish is new to me, as I tend to seek out more glossy finishes, but I think it adds to it's sophistication. Nevertheless, I'd recommend using a little balm underneath (preferably with SPF). EDIT: I recently darkened my naturally dark blonde hair to a medium auburn-brunette shade found this color too dark for me. Made me look a wee bit goth/emo. If you have dark hair and are into the vampire craze, go for it. I passed it along to my sister.

This was my first MAC lipstick purchase and a good choice indeed as well. The colour has hints of pink and brown - kind of dark too. I've been using it a lot - but normally I layer my clinique gloss in Guavagold to even out the contrast. I'm an NW25 and I find it very hard to pull off nude/light pink/red lipsticks. I mostly stick to natural tones, but this was a bit out of my league and I was still able to wear it without having it washing me out. It's just too much of a gorgeous colour.

This is a lovely rich plum shade with definite hints of rose and brown. For some reason I was expecting it to be a deeper pink from looking at photos of it, but in reality it's quite a bit darker than I had anticipated (I often find this happens, flash photography often lightens things, I should be prepared).

It's a satin finish and usually I don't have many problems with lipsticks being too drying, but this particularl formula is quite drying on me and settles in the little lines on my lips unless I am careful about application. It goes on very opaque which can be a good thing, but if you're looking for a softer look I recommend applying with a brush and pairing it with some gloss, rather than applying it directly from the tube (my method of choice!)

I'm about an NC15-NC20 and this definitely suits my skin tone, as a lot of other MAC mauve based shades seem to. However, as I tend to favour a more neutral lip on a daily basis, if I wear anything darker I am usually met with an expression of horror from my other half! If you're pale and wear dark lips as a matter of course this will seem quite tame to you. I personally think it's very wearable, skintone willing, and on darker skins I can imagine it has quite a natural stained effect and has great potential as an every day colour.

I like this colour.
I was looking for a nice mauvey colour to wear to work and this works quite well for the office environment. It gives my lips a very MMLB to the max look as it is fairly dark compared to the natural colour of my lips.
I also like the satin smooth texture of this. It isn't drying but almost slightly balmy and isn't too heavy.
I love MAC lipstick packaging, very smooth and convenient.
Very wearable product, especially for someone who works in an office.
It can look more purple in fluorescent lighting but overall a nice mauve
