This is - beyond all doubt - the best kajal I have ever sampled and would buy it again without a single hesitation.

First of all, let us dispel some myths about kajal and its use.

Kajal is not - and never has been - intended for use outside of the waterline of the eye. Due to its essentially cream-like formula, it is useless as a traditional "eyeliner" even when powdered down in an attempt to prevent smearing.

When used correctly, most kajal products will achieve some degree of success. However, even when used within the waterline, some contain very powerfully aromatic ingredients and as a result will cause the eye to water (although this is quite harmless). As a result, the product will smear and smudge very quickly. One thing that can be done with such products is to apply a small amount of black eyeshadow to the kajal, which will set the cream, although it will not make the product last any longer and it will need to be continually topped-up throughout the day.

This product does contain some otherwise aromatic ingredients, but I have to say in precisely the right proportions not to cause any kind of watering. This product is not just creamy, but I would go as far to say oily. One swipe across the waterline will not be sufficient - it is necessary to use small strokes up and down several times over to product a good, jet black effect.

However, the important point is how this fares after application and I am extremely pleased to say that, first of all, despite the very oily texture of the product, it does NOT require any powdering down with eyeshadow. You can apply this and leave it alone without any fear of smudging or smearing. I have tested this product over the course of a full day and at the end found no black marks around my eyes which has been so characteristic of other kajals.

As for the lasting effect, I topped the effect up twice in a period of 12 hours. This was in fact only around the corners of the eye, which is generally where any kind of product starts to fade on the waterline due to the fact that it will always be moist. However, on the plus side here, only you would notice this. From a distance nobody else would see this slight imperfection.

Finally, in terms of definition - I have to say - no other product has defined my eyes in quite the same way as Biotique Bio Kajal. Several people - both male and female - have commented on the difference in my eyes when I wear this product. I have never received comments from the gels I have worn nor any other kajals. This one seems to be a head-turner and that is more than likely due to the fact that, if applied correctly (to the waterline), it will appear absolutely jet black - literally as black as pitch. The other point is that it looks truly lovely, almost a shine to it that is really apparent. Finally, the definition this product gives is truly amazing and it would be very hard not to see this.

This is most definitely my "desert island make-up" and I would highly recommend it for anybody. It is incredibly cheap (I purchased a set of 5 from Ebay for less than I have spent on just one single product in the past) and very long-lasting.

I bought this because it was touted as nourishing to the eyes and encourages lash growth. I don't know if that's true , but it is very nice liner. Helps tremendously with filling in the water line - I have blepharitis and don't like to use anything that will aggravate it - and for me this product has not - will purchase again
