Right off the bat I just want to say I LOVE this primer! I don't want to be without it, ever! I have oily-skin and throughout the day my T-Zone gets terribly oily to the point foundation rubs off, particularly around my nose. I despise over-powdering my face, it starts to resemble a speckly, flaky mess. After reading a couple of reviews I stopped by the Esteé Lauder counter and picked up a tube of the primer. It has a thin consistency, spreads evenly and has a whitish appearance that completely disappears on contact with my face. I only need around a 10p sized amount, and I always apply after moisturiser, letting it sink in for a minute or two. Love the sleek, streamlined packaging.

It really does a great job of controlling oil all day long, since using this primer everyday foundation hasn't rubbed on my nose once. In the UK right now we're experiencing some very hot weather, so I've been able to test it in different situations. Even though I feel my face getting warm and sweaty, everytime I look in the mirror expecting my foundation and powder to have melted off, it remains almost perfectly intact. I say almost because after a full day of being in the sun a little bit of oil creeps through, but in that dewy sort of look. It doesn't just work with my beloved Double Wear, I've been testing it with my Cinema Secrets foundation, which is a cream formula and it holds up brilliantly with the matte primer underneath. It's basically like a heavy-duty anchor!

I definitely won't be without this primer now, and will 100% repurchase.

I bought this when I bought Double Wear Light and I really liked it. I was kind of skeptical because I have dry skin, but the sales lady assured me it would work well with the DW Light and she was right. However, I tried it with my Cover Girl Ageless Foundation, which I have used for years and is very creamy, and it went on like a dry mess. So....perhaps this is a great primer for use ONLY with the DW Light foundation or another Estee Lauder foundation OR for someone with oily skin.

I am giving it four stars because I will wear it with the DW light and have found that when I just put it on my nose (if I am wearing my Cover Girl) it hides my pores beautifully. I bought this as part of a kit, so I don't know what the price point is by itself. It comes in a tube, so you can really control how much you use.

Wow, I've only tried two other primers, urban decay and victoria's secret. Both made my already oily skin, even worse. I used this primer with revlon's nearly naked, (which isn't even marketed as being matte finish) and I only had to blot about 3x in a 10 hour work day. My makeup lasted longer than with my usual MUFE mat velvet....I am assuming this will work wonderful with MUFE mat velvet, however I got it with the intention of being able to buy cheaper foundations, =D I'm going to test this with revlon colorstay as well, I've never worn the foundation before, but Hope it works wel together!

This is the best primer ever! Without the silicon-like texture it smothes the skin instantly. On it's own it makes my pores dissapear and my face look even. Worn with foundation it makes it just look perfect for the whole day and I go and stay for 3 hours at the gym and still I am wearing my foundation when I get home.
Sometimes, just for touch-up I apply it over the foundation and the perfect skin is reveald withot having to do anything else.
Best part is that it takes no more than one tiny drop of it to cover the whole face so one tube will last forever (and seing how perfect it it I got three whole tubes so I will never go without it).
I do have skin issues like nodulo-chistic acnee so I have to be very carefull what I put on my face but this has not caused me any problems and I am wearing it for about one mounth so I highly recomend it.

I think I've tried a dozen different primers and nothing seems to work for my oily skin. I recently bought this primer as per recommendation from a sales lady at an Estee Lauder counter and use it together with their Double Wear foundation.

It doesn't work miracles, but I do like it. It's probably one of the better ones I've tried. It applies easily to the face and leaves a smooth feeling. The tube packaging is classic and the one I prefer.

Overall, a good product and I think it works on most parts of my face. My T-zone though, I have no idea what I'm going to do with.

I use this just on my nose as an oil controller. It does pretty well. Feels truly silky, not overly slicony (Like smahsbox) or overly powdery (porefessional, primed and poreless). Not an amazing product but not too bad either.

But damn its expensive. £23? Really? Urban Decay's pore perfecting primer does better at £19. I shan't repurchase.

This is a fantastic product that I use everyday! I had almost given up on the idea of the perfect primer until I found this. It keeps shine at bay for the whole day and although I wear double wear foundation (light) on top it stays put all day. I alternate between that and my mineral powder and either way my skin looks fantastic throughout the whole day. I have had many compliments on the way my make up lasts and looks throughout the day and I honestly put it down to this amazing product. Highly recommend this.

I have tried several primers before using this product including Stila's One Step Correct Triple Swirl Helix Primer, Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer Blend, Laura Mercier's Radiance, and Too Faced Primed & Poreless. While the other primers I used were all pretty good, this is my absolute favorite. I am 48 years old, and I think Estee Lauder suits my more mature skin which is combination skin with some discoloration and some wrinkles. This works really, really well with my Double Wear foundation. I use the primer then I apply my foundation with EL's foundation brush. My makeup for the first time in my life looks flawless.

AMAZING!! I have tried out so many primers in different price ranges and I'm absolutely thrilled to have finally found this one, it wins hands down for me beating Laura mercier primer and chanel primer. I wear Estée Lauder double wear foundation over it so maybe this helps with them being from the same brand. It's a lightweight primer than spreads and blends extremely well and leaves my foundation looking silky, covering pores and just lasting longer. I noticed such a difference, because of its ability to blend and spread well you only need a tiny amount therefore it lasts for ages making the price bearable. I am in love with the tube as well

The only down side for me is the fact it smells a little like plasticine.

I've been giving this a trial run, and earlier today compared it with the cheaper Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer 002. On my upper cheek areas, on each side of my nose, I have a bit of redness and large pores so I figured that would be the best area to test them on.

I put the same amount of the primer on each side and waited a couple of minutes. Hmm...kind of hard to say, though it did seem that the red on the EL side wasn't as pronounced. Next step was to put an equal amount (only a bit) of my Clinique liquid foundation over both areas. I let it sit for a few minutes and then looked in the mirror. Well, I looked in a few mirrors with different lighting. Overall, while the Rimmel side still had red showing through the foundation (as I said, I used a very small amount) and the pores seemed the same, the EL side had no red and the pores seemed somewhat smaller or tighter. There was also definately shine on the Rimmel side, but barely any on the EL one.

Conclusion? The EL was the better primer, but I'm still not overjoyed with it. I've read that a primer is supposed to help blur pores and even skin tone, but it really doesn't do either of those things. Of course, what I read could've been written by someone who didn't have a clue about primers. At any rate, I'll be sticking with this EL one until I get a chance to test out one of the Smashbox or Bobbi Brown ones.

UPDATE- It's been about an hour now. Just happened to look in the mirror and it doesn't look like I have anything on. Foundation seems to have vanished and both areas are shiny w/large pores again. So yeah, I'd give the EL a pass if you have a better option. I've removed a lippie because it only took an hour to go back to a pre-makeup state.

I have been using this for a few weeks now. So far no break outs and my face does not grease up in the afternoons like prior to using it.
I think for the price though I was expecting a little more with regards to the matte coverage look. I would buy it again unless I come across a better product.

Hopeless.

I loved the older version of this, it made my pores almost invisible and kept my t-zone oil-free for most of the day. This is the new and 'improved' (ha) version and it's awful. It has no effect at all on my pores or oiliness - it's not worth using.

A big thumbs down to Estee Lauder for this and a 'please bring back the original formula' plea.

I usually use Too Faced Sensitive Skin primer and should have just stuck with a good thing when i got it...BUT i am always out to try new things so I picked this up with my recent Double Wear Foundation re-purchase. I love all things Double Wear and when i tried this on my hand in the store it gave a nice glow to my skin. The MA said it is great under the DW Foundation or mixed with it. When i tried this both ways i got no glow out of it...hmmm very dissapointed! Also it broke my whole face out...surprise since this is the first DW product to ever break me out. Ah well...i guess it must have some oils or something in it that irritated my sensitive skin!

I had about a three day sample of this and have decided that I like it enough to buy a full sized tube. It does go on light and silky, no greasy feel and virtually odorless. So at work every time I use the bathroom I blot my face because it's always greasy (I currently use Smashbox Primer Light, it's okish) And I always look at the blotting paper to see how much oil came off my face. There was definitely less oil than usual that first day, and the next day I did the same thing and the results were the same, I think there was even less oil than the day before, and the third day as well. So so far I'm pleased with the product and I will be buying a tube tomorrow and see if it continues to work as the weather gets warmer. It can't be any worse than anything else I've tried.

I tried this primer for 2 weeks with double wear, double wear light, invisible fluid, double wear compact, shiseido perfect refining foundation, sheer mattifying, advance hydro liquid, mattifying oil free compact, Maybelline dream matte mouse, dream matte compact and it only gives me 2-3 hrs before the oil show thru. I had so much hope for this primer but...guess I will continue looking for my HG primer.

Definitely my HG because it works wonderfully with my dry sensitive skin and MUFE HD foundation. My skin is mostly dry but I get a bit oily on my t zone throughout the day and this prevents oiliness without appearing too matte or flat. I love that it's also good for my skin and fragrance free. Since I'm the first to review, I thought I'd add Beautypedia's review since it's one their preferred primers and Paula sums it up nicely.

From Beautypedia.com:
This lightweight primer has a silky texture just like most foundation primers. But this goes the extra mile by offering skin a good range of beneficial ingredients, making it more advantageous if you prefer to prep your skin with a product labeled “primer” instead of one labeled “serum.” In truth, any well-formulated serum does double-duty as a primer, but perhaps the serum you prefer has a texture that doesn’t pair well with your foundation. In that case, a primer like this is worth a look, especially if you have normal to oily or combination skin.

This does a very good job of smoothing the skin’s texture while slightly filling in large pores and leaving a soft, slightly absorbent matte finish that works (for a couple hours at least) to keep excess shine at bay. In terms of filling in large pores, the effect is minor but noticeable, and of course, it’s temporary, lasting a few hours or less depending on how oily your skin is and the type of foundation you apply after this primer.

One last attribute of this primer is that it’s fragrance-free. It contains many of the same great anti-aging ingredients Lauder includes in their serums, but most of their serums contain fragrance, which isn’t helpful for anyone’s skin.

Pros:
• Goes beyond what ordinary primers do because it contains a good range of beneficial ingredients.

• Fragrance-free.

• Lightweight, silky texture smoothes skin and refines enlarged pores.

Cons:
None
