I can see why there is so much love for this polish! It is a super sheer white polish that's great for layering and is pretty idiot-proof / easy-to-use. I also love using it alone to get clean, sophisticated, work-appropriate nails.

The formula is incredible, it's self-leveling and goes one evenly with every coat, although you will need 3-4 coats to get a noticeable amount of color. I've never had an issue with flooding my cuticles and never have to do much clean-up with this polish, although the wide brush certainly helps the application process. It dries super rapidly, too, so you don't have to wait long before you can apply another coat.

The search for that perfect sheer natural polish is a tough one - too streaky, too pink, too peach, too sheer, too opaque, etc etc..... Don't Touch My Tutu was one I would have though looked too white in the bottle. When applied, it's a milky white with a hint of pink/beige. Gorgeous. Goes on very easily with no streaking. (3 coats for perfection). Lovely!

OPI Don't Touch My Tutu from the NYC Ballet Soft Shades Collection Spring 2012 is a beautiful high glossy sheer. In terms of sheers I would rate this the sheerest in its opacity level. If you are familiar with OPI So Many Clowns...So Little Time it is identical in terms of it's sheer quality high gloss finish and application ease, absolutely no streaking! This is a white sheer but it is super super sheer, what I consider the your nails but better category. I wear it on my nails when they are in their shortish medium phase of growth for the least amount of visible nail line. I prefer three coats for a bit more coverage. Two coats gives you that really nice and shiny clean looking nails appearance. This type of ultra sheer look you get in two coats reminds me of the sheer polishes the Duchess of Cambridge wears, just pretty understated glossy nails. I can't stress enough how amazing the application is, you could do it really quickly because it just won't streak which is one of my requirements for a nail polish. I won't wear a polish if it streaks, no matter how much I like the color. OPI's Mimosas for Mr. and Mrs. is also a pretty color sheer, much more peachy pink and opaque than this, but no way, not happening, I can't sit there and keep re-doing a streaky nail. If you want that ultra sheer white that is high gloss go for this one, you won't be disappointed.

This is a really nice sheer white jelly polish, application is pretty streak free. Is a scary solid white in the bottle but totally different on the nails, thank god. Can't abide opaque whites. Would make a good French manicure base.

I love soft shades and I love jellies even more. It therefore comes as no surprise that I purchased the OPI New York City Ballet Collection. All the shades in this collection are jellies, thus sheer; so if you do not like VNL, don't buy this. Do not complain about opacity issues when going for this collection; it would be like wearing nothing but a negligee in the dead of winter and then complaining about the cold.

Don't Touch My Tutu is a white crelly or jelly creme. The application is so good. It is sticky enough to avoid pooling at the cuticles. It is thin enough to spread evenly. It is one of the least streaky white polishes I have ever tried. It gives my nails that frosted milky glass look, which makes it nice worn alone or as a french mani base unlike other white jellies.
Every year, nail polish manufacturers come up with some thing sheer, something white or both. I wonder what took them so long to come up with something like this.
I compared Don't Touch My Tutu with some of the sheer white polishes I still own.
The closest is OPI Funny Bunny. DTMT is slightly warmer than FB. Both dry to a glossy finish, but DTMT is shinier and easier to work with. Funny Bunny pools a bit and dries longer. DTMT is more opaque by the second coat. Both are better as french mani bases rather than for the white line.
Essie Marshmallow is a lot brigher and cooler toned than DTMT. The Essie is also streakier and more difficult to apply. It is a jelly, far less glossy than DTMT. Marshmallow is more opaque though, making it a good soft white line for a french mani with just a couple of strokes.
Misa Snow White is a very warm toned sheer white polish. On me, it leans slightly cream or more accurately, a sheer antique white. It is very streaky and pools quickly. The opacity is between DTMT and Marshmallow. Misa Snow white is glossier than Essie Marshmallow, but not as glossy as DTMT. It takes a long time to dry. It is beautiful however, if you want to wear white nail polish that don't make your hands look zombie-ish. It is a lot cheaper too compared to the other 3 above.
China Glaze Moonlight is cold-toned; the tone is in between DTMT and Marshmallow. It is streaky, and took the longest to dry of the 5. However, it brightened my nail even though it is not warm like Misa. The opacity is similar to Funny Bunny. The gloss level is like that of Essie Marshmallow. It is the cheapest of the 5.

As a lacquer head, I can justify owning both Don't Touch My Tutu and Marshmallow thru the issue of opacity. I tried making a white on white french mani, and DTMT was nicely complemented by the bright jelly line made by Essie Marshmallow.
I can only justify owning both DTMT and Funny Bunny because of the cute names lol.

Don't Touch My Tutu! is from OPI New York City Ballet Collection 2012. Every year, around March/April, OPI will launch it's soft shade collection. This year, the color of this collection are all soft creamy looking shades.
This color is a soft milky off white with a tiny hint of pink undertone. It still mainly look white. The application is very easy. It only takes three coats to make it opaque. Normally soft color is difficult to apply because it can easily create a "pool" effect in the middle of the nail. But this one is an exception. It applies evenly and dries really quickly.
I personally find this jel finish very attractive. The white is not as intense as Alpine Snow but it's pretty enough to wear it to work or at any bridal situation. It's nice on both hands and feet. It's also a nice color to wear in the evening, contrasting the usual red and dark color. The only downside for this one is you have to have perfect nail bed otherwise, the color might look uneven. I will definitely buy another one as back up.

There are precious few jellyish soft whites available in the nail polish universe. Of those few, even fewer are easy to use. *glares at Essie Marshmallow*

In my experience, Don't Touch My Tutu! is by FAR the easiest-to-apply jellyish soft white available today. It is very sheer on the first coat, but with a careful hand it will not streak. In three to four coats, depending on your expertise, it will become nearly opaque, but retain its squishy, jellylike quality.

Dry time was average. It dries to a high gloss as is typical with most OPI cremes and jellies. Wear time for me was great. I try not to speak to wear as I have learned to apply polish so it pretty much stays put till I want to remove it, so YMMV as far as wear is concerned. Several thin coats will wear better than fewer thick ones.

It is appropriate for layering--a glitter or flake polish applied beneath a coat of DTMT! will be visible through it.

I bought a backup of this one--that's how good it is, and how singular in the world of whites. If you are looking for a soft, jellyish white--not Wite-Out white, that is not what this polish is about--this is for you.

Now to decide how to best dispose of my nemesis Essie Marshmallow. Bury? Run over with car? Stab with forks? It is spending its time in the corner, thinking about what it did, while I decide its fate. *rubs hands together*

Don’t Touch My TuTu! is one of six polishes from OPI’s New York City Ballet Collection. This collection is a group of soft shades and Don’t Touch My Tutu! is a soft white that dries to a shiny, jelly finish. This would be a perfect white for a soft French manicure. This is one of my favourites from the collection. Application was easy. It’s a slightly watery polish and the first coat wasn’t as sheer as I thought it would be, but I could still see the whites of my nails. Coat two gives more of a colour saturation, but I can still see the whites of my nails.
