Many years ago when this first cam out, I had a sample and whenever I wore it.. I got compliments. I never get complimented on a fragrance. So years go by and I am searching for a new fragrance.... I tried chance, Gucci flora, burberry beat... and while those are fine... nothing was what I was looking for. I then remembered The AV and purchased it online without even remembering what it smelled like.

at first sniff in the bottle.. it does smell a little off. I understand the aqua velva aftershave comments... but you must try it on.It's soft, floral, clean and fresh.. not a sickening sweet floral or a too strong oriental.

It's worth a try and great for a light daytime clean fragrance. I do not think it smells cheap or cloying. The only problem is that I cannot detect it very much on myself....but others do and it's all good.

Wow this got really bad reviews but I own several bottles of this and when I wear it people ask what do you have on! On me this is a light powdery scent but NOT extreme powder like loves..and my teenage kids like it too.

AV smells just like soap... I tried it on and that is all I got... SOAP... So I guess it would be perfect for someone who loves that "fresh out of the shower smell", but for me a perfume should be a perfume and not a substitute for a shower on some level - I know that people who enjoy this type of scent are not using it as a substitute for a shower; that's just what it would make me feel like.

Awkward, ugly bottle housing an ordinary fragrance. Smells like a drugstore cologne marketed to those who want to smell "sporty."

I have it i wear it, it's not marine at all. It smells kinda like heavily fragranced shampoo. Good for a light spray on a cold winter day. Blandly warm and pleasant, if you like citrus notes. Lovers of more sophisticated fragrances, you will not like it.

The initials "AV" must be shorthand for Aqua Velva [aftershave]. I just tossed a nearly full bottle of AV in the trash after allowing it take up space on my dresser for 2 years. I was hoping I'd grow to like the fragrance but I actually hate it even more.

The first time I wore this, I couldn't get enough. The second time I wore this, it got on my nerves. If you like marine scents, skip this one. Go for Shi, Cool Water, or Acqua di Gio.

Oh my, this was nasty! It's supposedly a marine floral scent, but on me it smells like cheap cologne and lots of chemicals. Not a winner at all!

This is supposed to be both floral and aquatic. Unfortunately, on me, it smells a little like bug spray.
