I understand that this is a matte foundation, but this made my skin look so dull and lifeless. I have normal skin that tends to run on the oilier side as the day goes on. After using this foundation and being so disappointed I realize I like more natural and dewy foundations and do not need or like a mattifying look. I returned mine to Sephora because the color match was off, it didn't wear well and the pump broke!

This foundation is AMAZING! Its a liquid to matte foundation just like the popular liquid lipsticks that are on the market right now. You don't even need a setting powder for this foundation. It's not heavy or drying either.

I tried this in light beige. I like the color of it, it is a matte foundation. My make up stayed through the long day of work. The only downfall of it is that some parts of my face are very dry and I saw some dry patches on those parts of my skin.

I love this foundation. It has help my skin in general. I love how it last all day long. After my second time buying the product i felt more confident on how to use it, because this product can be really confusing when you are applying. Also you have to be fast, because it turns into powder really fast.

I only recommend this to people with oily skin.

I like this product, but it could be improved. I'm extremely fair with neutral undertones leaning more toward yellow. There isn't a color fair enough for me. Before using this foundation I was using Younique Touch Mineral Foundation. The products are comparable. However, Hourglass is better. They are both liquid to powder foundations. The powder that the Hourglass foundation dries to is much finer. I have dry skin, and it doesn't emphasize my dry patches too badly.

I'm not a fan of this product. I have extremely acne prone combination skin. I tried this a long time ago and I remembered liking it. I decided to pick up again during Sephora's most recent sale. The SA matched me to the color Nude and in the store it did look nice. I brought the bottle home and couldn't replicate the same effect from in the store. It dries very fast so it gets patchy. It didn't seem to cover well. It definitely causes me some big, painful breakouts. The worst thing is that it turns yellow on me. It made me look like I was jaundice, not a cute look. This will be returned ASAP.

This is actually a really nice foundation if you use your hands and rub it in really fast. I use shell and it's a really nice match for my NC25 skin.

So here's the thing with this foundation - if you're really and LEARN TO USE IT RIGHT then this foundation is absolutely amazing. But this foundation really is rather tricky to use correctly!

I have this in Shell (i'm about NC20-25, tho closer to 20) quite a while back and the first thing that I discovered is that - this foundation starts out creamy but dries REALLY fast so this is absolutely one of those fdnt that you should apply one section of the face at a time. Additionally, certain areas of the face it's a good idea to not apply too much, because this may dry so fast that it'll be hard to blend out - and then at that point the harder you try the blend, the more it starts to get kinda messed up (flaking/balling, emphasizing driness, etc., etc.)

First thing first, absolutely make sure that the pump/top is screwed on tight!!! my first bottle I didn't even realize that it came loose (super easily) and after the first use, it started getting very dry immediately. So as soon as you get your bottle and open it, make sure to twist the top tight!

Major trick - because of how fast this fdnt dries, it might be a better idea to use your hand/fingers to apply and ESPECIALLY ensure your hands are not just-washed and dry. For example if you just applied your fndt base or moisturizer, go directly into applying this foundation rather than washing your hands in between. If you forgot and washed your hands, you should rub some of your face moisturizer on your fingers/hand before applying the foundation. The few times in the past when I forgot and washed my hands after my fdnt base, it was incredibly difficult trying to spread/blend this foundation - the result was patchy and flakey with bits all over the place, and incredibly dry looking face. :( not happy. By ensuring that your hands have a bit of a slipperiness to it, it gives you time to blend the fdnt and get it melded to your skin before it completely dries down.

trick #2 - for smoother/bigger areas that has no crease/curve like your cheeks/sides of face use the appropriate amount, but for areas like your nose, around the nose and mouth, chin, around eyes, I suggest you use less product. this thing can cake up if you use too much in areas that has creases. if you use less, it actually look much better and controls the oil in those oily areas better. If applied too much, it kinda sits on top of your skin/crease and look terrible after a few hours.

trick #3 - after applying with hands, use a clean tissue and lightly pat down the skin to absorb any excess product and make it truly meld to skin. do this before applying finishing powder (and this is one of those fndt where I recommend only translucent finishing powder - if you layer actual powder fdnt on top it'd be way too much).

As long as I apply it this way, I find that this foundation lasts almost twice as long on my face compared to anything else I've used in the past. it's super amazing! My face still get oily as time goes on, but somehow it doesn't shine as much and you don't see all the huge pores - basically you get oily in an elegant manner (weird as that sounds). it also doesn't appear to oxidize like many of the other fdnt I've used in the past. The pump can get caked with dried product so cleaning may be necessarily periodically. the key is to make sure the product doesn't get dry inside the bottle or get too dry before you apply it to your face.

I haven't finished using my first bottle yet (I usually use it for the really long days), but so far i'm incredibly happy with this. I AM hoping to find a fdnt that's less tricky to use though, but in terms of lasting power, lack of oxidization, how it wears over the day, and how it works with my pores, this is definitely my top choice. just need extra time in the morning to make sure it looks good lol

I like this foundation but don't love it. This doesn't keep my matte all day but it keeps my matte longer than any other foundation I've tried, I also love the way it looks on my skin. This definitely is not full coverage and I don't think it's build able although I still think it covers my imperfections and redness nicely. I bought this during the vib sale for around 51 cdn but in not sure if i will repurchase this for full price.

It is the only product that actually has me feeling confident with myself whenever I walk out my house. BUT there are a few cons to this.
It emphasizes my pores, zits and blackheads. whenever I breakout, the foundation makes the pimple look as if it's peeling. It dries it out and makes it look like a scab. I put a lot of moisturizer on before the foundation but it still gets super dry. (I have 4 zits on my cheek so it's super dry and scaby) I have tiny blackheads covering my temples and ALL OVER my cheeks. The foundation just makes them look bigger and darker. Plus I have a bunch of tiny tiny bumps under my eyes (I don't know why) and the foundation emphasizes them! I sometimes contemplate on whether I should go out with the foundation on or not because it makes my skin look uncomfortable. once I wash my face my skin looks like it can breathe! The first two/three weeks of purchasing this I was in love! it was like a miracle sent from heaven. then as more time went by, it didn't make me feel the same way about it. I use a brush the lady tat works at Sephora recommended to me. It doesn't give me full coverage. my skin tone is dark and light due to anemia. so some parts of my face don't match the rest and I expected my foundation to fix that for me.
I really do love how this foundation keeps me from having an oily shiny face. it really does help me with my acne. I break out less, my scarring is slowly disappearing, my skin feels smoother (especially with the foundation off) and it somehow makes my breakouts gone within the week!
so it is a 50/50 kind of product for me. It has what I want, it's just not the full package. I will continue to purchase this product. but if I find something that meets all of my expectations I WILL GET IT EVEN IF ITS MORE EXPENISIVE.
I do recommend to girls with oily skin.
