I was hoping I loved this product as I absolutely love the Plumping By Terry foundaiton (teint declatation)... But I HATED it.... No matter how I applied it, fingers, sponge, or brush and no matter what primer I used underneath it, it looked horrid!!! It is a matte finish foundation but it balled up on my skin giving a really uneven coverage. It looked patchy and provided only about a medium coverage... If you tried to layer more it just turned into a bigger disaster!!! I wish I could have loved it... I really wanted to.... But it loses my vote, especially at AUD$98. In the end I gave it to my mum who is not as fussy as me when it comes to foundation.
A pump packaging would be nice, never a fan of screw lids as they get all gunky and when you screw the lid back on it often gets covered in foundation and messy!

By Terry usually delivers - and this foundation is not exception. I am a user of the more expensive Teint Delectation (which is pretty much perfect if you are over 35), and decided to give this one a go.. awesome. Enough coverage but not heavy, silky, demi-matte, the smells dissipates after a while. Worth the money. I wear bobbi brown beige 3 and got the cover expert in 4 - good match.

A truly beautiful, luxurious foundation that is justifiable for the price, in my opinion! The texture is phenomenal- it's a lightweight silicone formula that just glides on your skin, leaving it looking polished with a satiny finish. The coverage is not full, on my skin which has minor imperfections and a few broken capillaries to cover. It seems to be a solid medium, with a little bit of layering in certain areas. It does not claim to be a long-lasting foundation, yet I find that it did last most of the day on my skin when I set it with loose powder. There was absolutely no caking or creasing. My skin also looked rather dewy at the end of the day, instead of greasy, as I am quite oily. Oh and a little tip, don't store the foundation standing up as it has a tendency to leak out of the bottle, wasting product, my only little gripe. The packaging is not as nice as other By Terry foundations, but still, it is functional and you get can get every last drop out.

This foundation is definitely one of my favorites, and I have tried many high-end ones! Regarding color matches, I have swatched a few of the lighter shades, here is a list:
#1 Fair Beige: MAC NW10-15, very fair ivory with a slight pink undertone.
#2 Neutral Beige: MAC N10-15, similar shade intensity to #1 but with a truly neutral undertone. Reminded me of a paler version of Revlon Colorstay Buff.
#3 Cream Beige: MAC NC15, a neutral-leaning-yellow shade, very similar to MUFE HD 117.
#4 Rosy Beige: MAC NW15-20, a fair beige color with a slight pink undertone. Similar to CG Classic Ivory shades.
#7 Vanilla Beige: MAC NC20-25. A darker version of #3 with similar yellow undertones.

There is alot of truth in the saying "You get what you pay for!". This foundation is fabulous.. The coverage in my opinion is full. I do not have alot to conceal and my skin is good so it only enhances good skin care. The lady behind this product helped create YSL's Touche Eclat and she is on to something with this line... For dry skin it is wonderful. It goes on very beautiful. Staying power for me has been fine but I do dust a little translucent setting powder on after. It doesn't dull the finish. It feels luxurious and your skin feels great when you take it off, like you are also getting a skin treatment underneath the makeup.. It's pricey but a beautiful product. Of course I will repurchase.. And I will try more products in her line... It's lovely!

Really a splurge. but it was worth it. The cverage is not as good as it claims but the finish is quite natural---doesn't look like a heavy duty fooundation at all. it really is velvety, matte while silky. And for my super dry sensitive skin, it lasts all day long without drying or irritating my skin. Love it, except for the cheap tube packaging.
I am wearing shade1, which is slightly lighter than my skin tone, but it looks pretty natural in winter.

This is awesome!

It does not provide full coverage at all - and I have LAYERED. It doesn't cover my acne or my bad hyerpigmentation from past acne... but it covers a fair amount, it's just not full coverage and it does make your skin look flawless. It's like airbrush in a bottle! It smooths out the texture, erases pores, makes my skin look soft and smooth like nothing I have ever seen. It also makes it look glowing and really, really healthy. It provides an AMAZING base. And the shades are awesome. The lovely SA matched me to shade 3, which is a really awesome match - the undertones are really natural and neutral, no oranges or pinks - though slightly on the yellow side :). I'd say I am roughly at nw/c18. I tried the two lighter shades - I'd say shade 1 is about a nw/c10 or lighter. And shade two is a nc/w 15.

In contrast to the sheer glow, this provides slightly more coverage. This hides pores better, makes skin seem more flawless. But the sheer glow is just as lovely - provides a phenomenal glow to the skin, with relatively good medium - only a little on the sheer side, coverage. both just melt into the skin, making it look naturally beautiful! This definitely provides a lovely glow - makes skin look gorgeous! Best base for my skin ever (tied with Sheer Glow) - though you shall definitely need concealer, it makes skin look so beautiful that the lacking coverage doesn't matter (and what are concealers for, for most of us!)

So far, it also has pretty good staying power (haven't worn it for very long yet though) as it stays on well through my insanely hot room - which all over foundations have melted off in (and I have had like 5 on rotation, this definitely wins!).

The price is so worth it as it just makes your skin look amazing!

Absolutely one of the best foundation I have, I put this side by side with Sheer Expert. This have more coverage obviously, than Sheer Expert; I can use this as a concealer over SE or sheer it down with some silicone primer.
For my summer NC 30-35 skin, I picked #9 Honey Beige, truly skin tone, no yellow, no orange, no pink. If so desire, one can always add blush for further enhancement.
Totally worth the $75. I ordered it thru a US website since By Terry is no longer at Holt-Renfrew anymore.

Well, it has a good cover and nice finish especially with wet sponge. But it transfers and oxidizes.I will stich to double wear i guess.

Have been using this for a few days and am in awe of the feel, wear and coverage. I don't have particularly oily skin (in fact I'm more combination/dry) but living in a humid, tropical climate means there's not much foundation left on my face at the end of the day. By Terry however has been lasting amazingly and has maintained good coverage throughout the day.

Perfecting is a great title for this amazing foundation. It pretty much does everything - minimizes lines and pores, looks like real skin, blends seamlessly, imparts beautiful glow without shine, lasts all day and night. It just makes my whole face look like I have luminous baby skin.

I have very dry skin and it's hard to find coverage that doesn't emphasize my fine lines and flakes. This makes my skin look super smooth, velvety, and glowy at the same time, and the rest of my makeup applies beautifully over it. The first day I wore this, I couldnt stop checking out my own skin in the mirror, it's just looks so pretty, in a believable way, not an obvious mask-like way.

I really love Eclat de Rose Tinted Moisturizer too, but I like how Cover Expert is able to go a little further and hide all the discolorations and visible veins around my eyes and nose. This makes it a great problem-area concealer/skin smoother when I'm wearing the TM.

By Terry has the most beautiful foundation formulas you can buy IMO. I was so disappointed when light expert 101 was discontinued, and indescribably happy there are finally some more color options for my pale skin!

Wow!. Can't say enough good things about this or the Sheer Expert. Both are so far superior to anything else I've ever tried and the list is long. By Terry Cover Expert does all it promises. The imperceptible coverage is phenomenal and it only takes a small amount to achieve this. It also defintely camoflauges signs of aging, which my 52 year old face appreciates. I take good care of my skin and want a foundation that enhances it, which this does perfectly. If it feels like a mask, then too much was applied. This hides dark circles, redness and broken capillaries and still looks natural! Simply amazing. For a perfect color match, call Alex at Barney's on Madison Ave.

I had never heard of By Terry before visiting a new cosmetic store in downtown Ann Arbor. When I described my skin as dry in most places and very sensitive, and the medium long-lasting coverage I desired, the clerk directed me to By Terry. This foundation is AWESOME. It is velvety and covers my slight redness perfectly. The coverage lasts even when I am a bit heated. The price is steep at $65 but well worth the price at this point. BTW, the concealer is really good too.

I've finally stopped looking for a foundation that works for me. This is it! It's a perfect colour match (I'm nc25 and wear 7 vanilla beige), lasts all day but isn't hard to remove, doesn't clog my pores or break me out, doesn't make me oily or dry out my skin, is easy to apply, provides full but natural looking coverage and looks fantastic in photos. I have bought literally hundreds of foundations over the years and nothing has come close. I've actually thrown out all my other foundations now and hope to God they never discontinue this one. I used to use Lumiere Veloutee but this is better (i didn't have a colour match in that and had to mix two, and it didn't look as natural). It's cheaper than past By Terry foundations too, although still on the pricey side - but definitely worth it. My only tiny criticism is that the tube tends to dollop out more than I need and the lid gets messy. Thank you By Terry.

Well, I think this will split the consumer and be a 'love it' or 'hate it' product. Why do I say that?

Fragrance: it has quite an intense fragrance which personally I like, it smells super luxurious and gives me a sense of enjoyment as I use it.

Finish; the 'velvet' finish they promote is SO acurate that it gives quite a heavy look. Personally i don't want my face to look velvet, I prefer more natural. It gave me a velvet mask, ok flawless and even, but not very real. As i say, some will love this aspect.

Colour; Don't be fooled by the 'beige' names, there is still rather a pink tone to these shades. I have been using #1 fair beige which is the palest. I have to say it is much lighter than most so called pale/fair/porcelain colours, I can actaully wear it, which initself is really unusual and a pleasant surprise. It is however too pink and once we get into summer and I stop wearing scarves high neck tops, I will have to stop using this. For ref. my default foundations are Chantecaille in Porcelain and Armani LSF in #2 (slightly too yellow but works). One of the strengths of the By Terry is how well it lasts throughout the day without the colour oxidising at all.

Feel; now the thing Idodn't understand is how brands like this that promote luxury credentials and distincitve ingredients that benefit the skin can use ingredients in a product like this that are actually bad for you! To me Cover Expert not only looks like a velvet flawless mask but feels like a mask that isnt allowing my skin to breathe. Such a shame.

I do think many people will love this. There are some superb aspects to it. It's not for me though.

This is the best foundation I've ever tried and my search for the perfect foundation is finally over! I have tried loads of different foundations including HE, drugstore, bb creams etc. I bought this and the new creamy foundation by dolce & gabbana at the same time because both sounded like I could like them. This one is far far better.
I have combination skin leaning on the dry side, a few broken capillaries and acne scars that need to be covered. At the same time I hate if it looks obvious that I'm wearing foundation. I am 29 years old and a few lines are starting to show, I'm using AHA and retinol products that sometimes leave my skin dried out and flushed. I was always searching for a foundation that covers everything nicely but still looks natural with a semi matte finish AND I wanted it to give me this airbrushed, glowy "model"-look. This foundation does all that! It's amazing. It is also so easy to use. I apply with my fingers and if I didn't have a mirror it would still look good because it never cakes or creases, the colormatch is PERFECT (I am a MAC nw 20 and I use shade number 4). I also like to use mac strobe cream underneath it and I'm pairing it with helena rubinsteins magic concealer (which I also recently discovered and it's just amazing for undereye shadows AND to conceal spots). staying power isn't as long as eg. EL double wear but it looks much better, smoother and it is very easy to add another layer without looking masky. I do have to blot my forehead once or twice a day but that is because I have to moisturize a lot with my dry skin. I recommend this to anyone with dry skin who wants good coverage and a natural finish. the scent is also amazing, it strongly reminds me of my childhood (and it's not that typical by terry rose scent) so if anyone knows what it could be (I think it could be a product my mother used to wear in the 80s), please contact me! I will not buy anything else again and I probably won't even finish the d&g one since the color doesn't match me that well and it dries me out quite a bit, finish is also a bit too matte for my liking.
it is worth the pricetag and I love it to pieces! :-)
