I really wanted to like this product. I had heard such good things that I felt like I needed to run right out and buy it. I got three colors, all of which were promptly returned. The color payoff is really poor - streaky and thin, even after applying several layers. It does stay, I'll give it that, but the formula felt really heavy and sticky on my eyelids. The colors are beautiful in the package but, sadly, that just didn't translate into a nice finish on my face.

These are by far my favorite cream eyeshadows; I have 10 of them! For their low price point, nearly all of them are incredibly well-pigmented and have great staying power, and are great as a tinted base for powder eyeshadows or even as sheer wash of color. I don't feel that they hold up to their "24HR" promise on their own, especially since I have oily eyelids which sometimes causes colors to crease if I don't wear powder eyeshadow over it. But it it's still an easy fix to just blend it into itself again. The pigmentation is quite intense for most of the colors, with minimal fading throughout the day and into the evening.

These come in sturdy glass jars no different than most gel eyeliners (in fact the product melts like one too). I personally do not like jar packaging as I find it not so hygienic, and the longer the jars are opened and exposed, the more prone the product is to drying out. But this kind of packaging allows for the eyeshadow to be versatile as I can apply this as an eyeshadow with my fingers or an eyeshadow brush, or I can apply it as a smudge-proof colored eyeliner using an eyeliner brush.

Something to note about these eyeshadows is that nearly all of them come in a shimmery finish; the only three that come in matte finishes are Fierce & Tangy, Painted Purple, and Tough as Taupe. The color selection for the permanent catalog is also very basic as opposed to L'Oreal's permanent Infallibles, but Maybelline does offer more sophisticated Color Tattoos as seasonal limited edition shades.

Lastly, not all of the colors are equally pigmented; I have nearly all of the Color Tattoos in the permanent catalog, and I have found that Painted Purple takes a little more work to build up its intensity than any of the other shades (in fact, it looks like a watercolor wash when applied), and Bold Gold is not so bold as one might think, since it sheers out quite a bit and the gold flecks in it are more noticeable. But I suppose that's why they released Gold Rush in their Metallic Color Tattoos.

Overall I find that these make quite durable bases for amping up my irreplaceable powder eyeshadows, and haven't really had a need to purchase any other eyeshadow primers or bases since.

I wish Maybelline would make more mattes and how about some browns too? I have many of these and found that I don't use them as often because alot of the colors are way too frosty on my lids. I hate to leave a somewhat negative review as many of you love them but my Tough as Taupe dried up fast after a year and a half of using this as a brow color and liner and Bold Gold, what can I say? Bold Gold was great in the beginning. But when I got further down in the pot (this one dried up too) it got more glittery and splotchy and flakes on me. I had to throw this one away. Maybelline makes too many golds in this line. The one gold from last year, Gold Shimmer, is brownish gold, not as frosty, is pretty good. Too bad it is LE. Good thing I got two of these. The latest offerings, the spring line, I bought Lavish Lavender, Blue Paradise, and Shady Shores (another gold, come on Maybelline, stop with the golds, will ya?) Only it barely shows up on my lids, will do as a primer for powder e/s only. Inked in Pink and Lavish Lavender are great together. Blue Paradise is a duochrome ( pulls purple on me) but it is frosty. Sigh. No sign of any browns in this line up. Anyway, good thing they are nice and creamier than when they first came out.

I finally caved in after reading all of these amazing reviews and I am so impressed. The pigmentation and texture of these shadows are BEAUTIFUL. And the best part is that they are long lasting, even on my oily eyelids they last better than my regular eyeshadows. Only thing is that they are kinda expensive( about 10$ CAD for one little pot), but I say worth every penny.

Sheer Perfection. Also a great dupe for MAC Paint Pots and BeneFit Creaseless Cream Shadows, not in colours but in texture and longetivity.

Price: $7 CAD
Colours
Seashore Frosts (LE): sky blue based duochrome with seafoam green/light teal/peachy gold/slight palr bronzy sheen/hint of lavender with pinked peachy shimmer
Bad To The Bronze: dark metallic cool-toned bronze
Barely Branded: metallic champagne-beige
Sandy Shores (LE): pale frosty yellow with white/pale gold/mint green duochrome
Electric Blue: deep pearlescent navy
Tenacious Teal: bright turquoise-blue with green shimmer
Tough As Taupe: matte warm grey
Pomegranate Punk: pearlescent burgundy-plum
Pigmentation: opaque (except for SS)
Wear time: all day

All of them provide an excellent base for powder eyeshadows and they can be worn alone as well. On lazy days, I just pop on BB with BTTB in the crease. SS is such a pretty colour, such a shame that it's LE.
For the price, they really are on par with the high-end makeup that cost triple, if not more

I cannot stop buying these things! First I had to try Tough as Taupe to use as a base for smoky eye looks, and since then I purchased 3 more and impatiently waiting for the new limited edition collection to arrive at my local Walgreens.
These are very versatile and easy to work with. I never use them alone, since I enjoy blending different shades together for a seemless look, these are a bit tricky to blend if you only use color tattoo (in my opinion). But as bases they work great and make even a cheap, poorly pigmented eyeshadow pop.

Amazing product with an affordable price! Texture is so smooth and creamy. It's very pigmented and long wearing. But it can be dry after using for 5-6 months.

I loved this product! It surely lives up to its name ... The eyeshadow stays on for a long time. I purchased this in Bad To The Bronze. Really compliments my skin tone, easy application and just the right amount of shimmer. Definitely going to get more of these!

My first colour tattoo was Bad To The Bronze. It wasn't bad quality-wise but I didn't really like how the colour looked on my skin. As a result, I barely use it. Then I came across another one which is Inked In Pink and I fell in love with it! It's the perfect colour to wear for an everyday look as it brightens up your eyes. I usually use this for my lids then blend it out with a brown eyeshadow on my crease.

As far as quality goes, I haven't really had the chance to try it without a primer because I'm so used to using primer on my lid first before anything but as far as I can tell this thing lasts for hours on end. I'm not a fan of shimmers though so I didn't really like how they don't have anything that's completely shimmer-free/matte. However, if they had a collection of matte colour tattoos, I will surely buy more of these bad boys.

One word: AMAZING. I used to be obsessed with the MAC paint pots but they're hard for me to get a hold of and also a bit pricey, I was stoked when these Maybelline ones came out. Honestly, I like these A LOT more than the MAC paint pots. They're soooo much smoother and creamier. A lot easier to apply. I have the one in Barely Branded which is a beautiful beige champagne color, kind of like MAC's Bare Study. The Maybelline Color Tattoos definitely stay true to their name. At first I thought because it was so creamy that it would crease and be gone in like an hour but once they dry on your eye lid these things aren't going anywhere! You can use them as bases for other eyeshadows or just wear them on their own cause the colors are beautiful. The packaging is just a little glass container with a screw on top. The price was about 7 dollars at my Walgreens but you can get them literally anywhere like Walmart, Target, CVS ect. I am so in love with these products. Definitely worth buying!

I never thought I would like a cream eyeshadow, but I really like color tattoo! It dries quickly, doesn't crease at all, and lasts all day. It's a little difficult to apply if you're not used to cream. You really have to pack a lot on if you want the color to look like it does in the package. Otherwise, it's not nearly as opaque. Some of the lighter colors, like Icy Mint, make a great primer for powder shadows. When wearing color tattoo under my powder shadow, the powder shadow lasts all day and doesn't crease. This is great for me because I have oily skin. Normally, my eyeshadow doesn't last more than a few hours. With color tattoo as a primer, my shadow looks as good at the end of the day as it did when I first put it on in the morning. A miracle! After using color tattoo, I won't buy an expensive primer! Alone, I don't love color tattoo, but they make a great color booster or primer for powder shadows.

I've been suckered before by cream e/s (creasy, greasy, poor colour pay-off) and so was pretty skeptical about these. These are actually pretty good especially for the price. My one remaining bit of niggle about these is the inconsistency of colour pay-off and texture in the range, and that the full range isn't available in New Zealand.

I have:
Bold Gold - Sheerish light gold with shimmer rather than glitter. Most traditional 'cream' texture. Reasonable pay-off, but sheerer than I was expecting.

Tough as Taupe - Matte greyish-brown. Work-friendly, dryish texture but easy to smear on and go.

Audacious Asphalt - Medium silver grey with silver sparkles. Hard to work, goes on unevenly, really hard to blend, too much work.

Painted Purple - Metallic purple with a hint of pink iridescence. Poor pay-off, but is useful as a base under purple e/s.

I find a sponge-tip applicator works really well for applying these (except Asphalt for which I don't know WHAT would work) as brushes get gunky and my fingertip doesn't do a good blending job.

I have found that these need to be stored upside down to prevent them drying out. I've had the four above for at least a year and they haven't dried out yet.

I love these eyeshadows! I don't use them for straight eyeshadows though, unless I'm in a hurry. I usually wear them as a base to make my eyeshadows I put on top of them pop more. I want to get every color! So far I have 7. They are very pigmented, super inexpensive and worth every single lipstick I gave them! If you don't own one, run out and get one now!

I have this amazing product in four shades (bad to the bronze, pomegranate punk, too cool, and bare beige) and I definitely plan on getting more! My eyelids are the traditional Asian eyes, so there is no crease and the eyelid sort of folds in on itself, giving my virtually no room to do any cool makeup looks :( . Anyways; my eyelids are also naturally oily so it's just a recipe for disaster. I used to NEVER wear eyeshadow because evrytime I closed my eyes, you would see the eyeshadow gathered in the would-be crease of my eye. That is definitely not a pretty look. Thanks to Maybelline, I can now wear eyeshadow without it creasing! I usually have to touch up my makeup midday during lunch, but that's only because my lids are extremely oily and I just find joy in doing my makeup xD. Aside from that, these go great by themselves, or topped with eyeshadow! I tend to top them with eyeshadow ebcause it lasts much longer on my lids, and shadow also intensify the base a bit more which I need since you don't see my eye makeup unless I blink. These cream shadows also help my eyeliner stay in place which also used to run into my crease. These are my HG in eyeshadow bases, and no other primer or base has ever worked for me, including UDPP, MAC paint pots, or any other pirmers. Overall, I will keep repuchasing these shadows over and over again and I hope Maybellin enver discontinues them; they found a repeated buyer in me!

I bought this in "Bold Gold" and I really like this product!

It is a small package but a little of this hard-cream shadow goes a long way. For a cream based shadow this product does not crease during the day, even when I applied it without a primer first. I was very impressed because I find cream shadows are usually so disappointing in how fast they crease.

The color was pretty bold, maybe not quite as bold as I had hoped it would be, but very pretty when layered for a night out or with one application for day. I'd like to try this in other colors.

I really like these! They are really pigmented and last a long time on my lids. They don't crease and you don't have to use a primer. Just keep in mind I don't have oily lids or anything like that...I like to use Barely Branded on my lid and inner corners in the morning to make me look more awake. Inked in Pink is really pretty with it as well if you place it on your lid and work it into your crease for contrast with the barely branded.

I absolutely love these and will of course continue to repurchase them. First of all, the colors are gorgeous and nicely pigmented. I have Bad to the Bronze, and it is a gorgeous color that looks amazing just as that one color on my lid, which is really quick and easy to apply. Second, I really like the consistency and texture. Third, they are really long wearing and you don't need a primer. I got my head wet by accident while wearing this eyeshadow and it did not budge. These are amazing and I will definitely buy more! Even though they are kind of on the pricey side for drugstore eyeshadow, it is totally worth the money. These are soooo amazing I TOTALLY RECOMMEND I LOVE THEM SO MUCH WORDS JUST CANNOT EXPRESS

Love those, I have 7 of them. I can put just one color all over the lid and it will look stunning. The only thing I have to say is that they're hard to blend out since they are cream shadows. I still love those & I will keep purchasing them until I die.

THis product is really nice! this is my first day using this, i have the color 'tough as toape' i go for natral products since im 13 i go for more natral shades. though this shade is gourgous! But... its not really that natural. this product was also 8$ +! Thats kind of expensive to me.

PROS:
1.The color is pigmented and has a variety of colors
2. The actual shadow is really creamy but stubborn sometimes.
3. they stay on nice without a primer

CONS:
1. Applying the shadow is a little tough, its not so creamy when you put it on.
2.The price is 7-9$... that more on the expensive side
3. To open the jar it is confusing.. i though it would be on te opposite side.. the label is on the bottem side also.

over all i love this product!
