I went to the drugstore looking for Revlon's Midnight Haze (from what I could tell on a youtube video) and they didn't have it, but the new L'Oreal Project Runway display was out AND stocked. I have seen these at other stores, completely picked over & empty, so I was glad to see what all the colors actually are. Raven's Strength looked like a close enough match, a silvery, shimmery black, so I bought it. The formula is fantastic as far as application--it went on smoothly and evenly with great coverage. I applied two coats & was very satisfied with how it turned out. However, I did not apply base or top coat & noticed it was not as shiny as I would have liked (I wanted it to be shiny like essie brand). I left it alone & figured I'd apply top coat (out the door from sally's beauty) the next day, which I did. I noticed Raven's Strength had already started to chip, so I applied a third coat to even it out & cover the nicks before the topcoat. Bad idea. It looked good for the first hour, but then the tips just wore right away and it chipped more in a few places. I should have just done the topcoat right after the 2nd coat right away--maybe that would have worked better. It's opaque and nice in two coats, the 3rd was just to hide my neglect. I don't advise using 3 coats because that makes it too thick, and easy to peel. This is a beautiful color, but I wonder if L'Oreal polishes just chip easily & wear away fast, or if it was my sloppy care?
