I love Chanel products but do not like this EXPENSIVE lipstick. This is Chanel Rouge Allure in "Famous". This lipstick is drying, and cakes up on your lips. The color is beautiful however. I wish they made this color in their Hydrabase lipstick, which I also have, but I don't think they are making it any more. Hydrabase is probably the best lipstick I ever bought -- creamy without stickiness or cakiness.

First of all, the packaging is amazing. Doesn't affect the product at all, but it really is luxurious. The colour is a pinky red, with subtle fushia shimmer which barely transfers onto the lips, not enough to be glittery but enough to bring another dimension. I am an avid red lipstick wearer, so have alot in my collection. This is unlike any I have seen before. It wears beautifully, isn't too drying (but make sure you do wear a lip balm under it) and is just amazing. It's very wearable but still makes you walk taller. I have found also with this colour, that I don't need a lip liner, nor do I need to apply with a lip brush. It looks amazing without any feathering or bleeding. Definately one of my top 3 reds, I'm making my mum get me a back up for christmas, because I know I'll be wearing this non stop for awhile

I just love the Rouge Allure lipstick packaging, it is so, so classy and always reminds me of something a spy might use ;)
I've walked past this product a few times and it just never called out to me, but one day I was wandering around the Chanel store and the SA wanted to try this on me.
I am very fair, around Chanel's Vitalumiere Hydra 10 Beige(Asia-only product I believe), slightly lighter and pinker than MAC NC20. A perfect match is RMK 202 powder foundation. Shu Uemura 774 is a little yellow but I am able to wear it, so I hope this gives you an idea. Famous is a cool-toned red with a slight cherry to it and some shimmer. I got many compliments while wearing it as it brings out the radiance in a cool-toned complexion. If you are cool-toned, you need this lipstick pronto!
So, Famous is my new favourite red. I was previously a fan of Dragon or Mac's Dubonnet but if I had to pick but there was never a time I would wear a red lip two days in a row; Famous changed this. It is so non-drying compared to Insolent, the only other RA I own. It is easy to apply straight from the tube (yes, sue me ;) and does not need a liner to go along. Does not last as long as Dragon but it is so easy to apply that I don't mind. Also, did not really bleed on me like Dragon does even though I was having drinks with straws most of the time. Very impressed and might have to go and buy another tube!
I wish it was not limited edition! :(

This is a limited edition from the Holiday 2011 collection. It is beautiful and unique.
Inside Nordstrom, the shade looked warmer than it does in natural light. For me, this is a good thing, as I prefer cooler reds :)
It is a bright, not overly dark, cool leaning red. It has some shimmer. It stays on well. Not as well as Dragon, but hardly any lip color stays on that well. Dragon is much darker, sheered out and worn as a stain it is about the same intensity, but much warmer.
Lipsticks I have that are similar are in color: (none of the following have shimmer, but 'Famous' does)
YSL Rouge Volupte #11, but its slightly bluer, darker
TF Pure Pink is the same intensity, but slightly cooler
TFCherry Lush, a bit darker,
Guerlain RA #121, same intensity, but is warmer.
