Love the color and consistency but do not love that this doesn't last and it even smears. I am off again to look for a pencil of this color that lasts but in order to do so, it doesn't look like I used a magic marker on my eyes.

I've used the highly raved MAC/Bobbi Brown Gel eyeliner (their colour payoff is really good and lasting), Clio/Heroine liquid eyeliner but somehow at a point in time, their formula always end up making my eyes itch! It feels like powdery particles have dropped into my eye. I'm baised against pencils because it seems like their colour payoff is low and will not last me through the day.
However, upon discovering eye primer (I'm using Urban Decay), this MAC Coffee eye pencil has work wonderfully on me. With the use of UD eye primer, the colour payoff is very good (with a few swipes, it looks better than gel/liquid), does not smudge, and it lasts me all day. I would only need do minor touch up once after work and the look is as fresh as in the morning!
For my upper lashline, I draw it directly on my eyelids as close to my lash line as possible, and use a eyeliner brush to help blend/shape it a little. For my lower lashline, I prefer to use my eyeliner brush, go over the tip of the pencil to grab some colour, then apply with the brush on the lower lashline. This gives a softer, more even and natural look.
The shade of brown is flattering to my black iris and is definitely a good alternative to black which might appear too harsh.
I would highly recommend this!

My all time favorite pencil eyeliner. It is a good, deep brown that doesn't look too harsh on me-I'm pale with blue eyes. Black usually looks way too harsh. It has great lasting powder and blends well. It does smudge and the formula tends to work like one of the kohl pencils, although it doesn't claim to be a kohl. You can get other cheaper browns, but this particular shade and formula works wonders for me. Definite repurchase.

You go on so smooth. You let me blend, reapply then blend again. A quick Smokey eye without tools can lead to confusion "is she on the walk of shame or not?"
True u may not stay for long when put up against that water line, but when I want my skin or my lips to take centre stage, then its you. Only you. Coffee. Soot is too harsh, a simple brown is insipid against me, but just like the hot beverage, coffee is my sunrise surprise. Hits the nail, every time.

This is the only brown eyeliner I can use without making me look tired. Its a lovely dark brown, with no red undertones. Its makes my blue eyes really stand out! I can't say how long it lasts without a primer, as I always need to use a primer (even with MAC Paint Pot), but with the primer it stays put all day. I only bought this about a month ago, and I can say that for once in my life, I am not wearing a black liner daily........hurrah!

I love this color - it's really beautiful and natural. I use it for more natural everyday looks, although I think it is really nice for a brown smokey eye later at night :)
It is not the best in terms of applying in your lower lash line/waterline so forget it if you are buying this eyeliner for that reason. I mainly use this to fill in between my upper eyelashes, and stays there all day even though I have crazy oily eyelids.
If only they made this color more smudge proof for the lower lash line -- then this would be 5/5 for me.

I love wearing browns instead of black liners just because it looks more natural and not as harsh. This color is gorgeous but ive had better. When I apply to lower lashline, this smudges and transfers everywhere. I do have oily lids but other liners I've tried doesn't smudge/transfer like this liner. Prob going to use this as a base for brown smoky eyes. I would not repurchase this line of mac liners but I do love the pearlglide liner in "lord it
Up". (shimmery bronze/gold color)

Eh, again, I'm picky on certain browns. This was a real nice brown, but it wasn't deep enough for me. The lasting power was not impressing at all, I thought it'd be just as great as their shadows or lipsticks.

This eye liner SUCKS. I don't know why the MUA recommended it. I asked for a pencil that would stay put and wouldn't smudge. After applying, within the first hour without fail it will transfer to my under eye area. I don't wear eyeliner or shadow on my lower lash so it looks awful. It lightens and wears off within a few hours and transfers to my upper lid.
The only way to get this to work is to apply then smudge out with a stiff brush. This softens the colour so I just use it for natural looks. I DO like the colour (no red undertone) so I'm trying to get my money's worth. Going to stick with powerpoint or technakohl from now on!

Coffee is the best brown eye pencil I have tried. It's a deep cool toned brown liner, and the thing I love about this product is the fact that it's long lasting and doesn't change colour. In the past I've had liner's that turn red/orange once applied onto the waterline but Coffee doesn't do that at all, it stays true to its colour. Love it! A definite repurchase when it runs out.

I went to the MAC counter and had my makeup done and the guy used this coffee eye pencil.. at first I didn't love it but then I realized I loved how natural it looked oppose to using black eye liner. I LOVE this eyeliner! I use it everyday and I've had it for over a year now and its at least an inch shorter than when I first got it I have to say It is really long lasting, unlike some products from MAC you get your moneys worth definintly!

This is my HG brown eyeliner and is THE perfect brown eye pencil. It is neither too gray, too red or too muddy. It is a great true coffee brown that looks wonderfully natural on me. I almost never wear any kind of black makeup because everything I have tried turns ashy or blue on my skin, so I stick to brown as my go to liner color. This pencil stays true to color with out fading to a muddy mess. I wear it on my top lid only so I can't say how well it sticks to the water line. It is very smooth, easy to apply, easy to sharpen and easy to smudge when needed. Will continue to buy until the end of time.

Firstly i think this eye pencil is a beautiful colour. All to often i find brown pencils are too red or maroon but this is a lovely flat brown.
The consistency is lovely. You can smudge it with your finger for a smoked look or draw a thin line for a neater look. One thing i have been doing is covering my lid with the pencil smudging it in then applying to my waterline. A very quick and easy smoked look.
It seems to last fairly well. If you smudge it and have oily lids like me you may find it slides a little.
Overall my best brown pencil so far!

On me it applies an average black colour, not dark enough to make my eyes pop, but you can't detect any brown either. I'm not great at eyeliner, but I did manage to make a nice line with it, so not all bad then. Edit: I used this again today, the top line stayed perfect all day (12 hours), but it did smudge and flake under my eyes and needed Q tips and some reapplying. On the other hand this is probably the best my eyeliner has ever looked. I attempted winged eyeliner and, whilst not quite even (my fault, not the pencil), I'm pleased with it.

A good eyeliner, nice brown color with NO RED UNDERTONES that makes me look tired, a good alternative to Teddy Kohl which I can't wear because of the red tones. Good for neutral, brown, bronze colors. Doesn't smudge like crazy, but isn't as longlasting as I wanted it to be.

Great color, as perfectly described below. Not as deep of a brown as I was hoping for, but nevertheless wonderful. Pencil is slightly harder than most so it wears nicely, to apply I do give a little blast of my hair-dryer to soften. This wears about 4-6 hrs for me, depending on the activity. I cant wear a brown alone, so I layer overtop of my black to give this more depth. Only things I'd change would be to deepen the formula, make it slightly softer and/or longer wearing. I have others that are softer to apply and last longer. Otherwise a great standard basic deep brown liner.
Edit: Found Prestige kohl's to be of superior quality and considerably lower price.

I purchased this about 4 years ago. I asked the mac sales associate for a brown liner and this is what she gave me. Out of all my liners this is the one I use the most. It's a dark brown with no red tones at all, it goes with pretty much every color (except for black and grey in my opinion) and gives a softer look than black.
After 4 years I still have 95% left, it is lasting me forever! It's smooth to apply with no tugging yet hard enough to sharpen without any problems and to last a really long time.
I do have a little problem with it lasting on my bottom lashline and in the tightline, it smudges very easy.
I'm lm nude in tm and tender rose in mmu for reference
I may repurchase when I run out (which may be never :)) but I think there are many comparable and better liners out there so I may not.

I have a love/hate relationship with this eyeliner. I've been using this particular color (coffee) on and off for years.
-Pros: Easy to apply and glides on smoothly. Rich dark chocolaty brown (which I LOVE). Great on any skin color.
-Cons: Doesn't last throughout the day and smudges easily.
The way I use it, to avoid those embarrassing raccoon eye moments: apply liner first, then go over it with a shadow that's similar to your liner. I would purchase again (obviously) but it depends on my mood ;)

This isn't a bad pencil -- the dark brown color is perfect for me and it does blend well -- but on the other hand, I find it doesn't have great staying power. You will definitely need a touch-up before going out after work. I have found less expensive eyeliners, such as Avon's Glimmersticks, that last longer. So while Mac makes a pretty good pencil, I doubt I will purchase it again.

This is my favourite dark brown eyeliner I use. Its versatile you can do a natural look or brown look by building the colour up and smudging it. I tend to wear this almost everyday.
