I love this color and the gloss pencils! The texture is great and I really love that I can wear a glossy color that my hair doesn't get stuck to. I have several of the gloss pencils and I have had very good luck with them. You can blot to make the color more sheer or layer to make darker. I will definitely repurchase!

Lovely matte brownish purple, but unfortunately pigments settled into my lines. This happens to me with Nars lipstick too. Strange, since I'm 30 and by no means have deep lines. It faded on the smooth part and left really dark, obvious clumps in the creases. Yuck! I will not repurchase. The pencil format is a pain too.

Oh, how I love these gloss pencils! NARS describes this shade as "sheer grape," but I think it's more complex. It's a medium-deep mauve/plum with a touch of brown and a bit of shimmer. It wears beautifully--meaning better than a traditional gloss, but slightly worse than a traditional lipstick--and leaves a bit of stain, which increases with each application. This is a great addition to my collection of NARS mauve/plum lip products--Damage, Shrinagar, Fast Ride, Sweet Charity, and Female Trouble.
Since I hate applying traditional glosses, the pencil component is a huge selling point for me. For those having trouble with sharpening--pop the pencil in the freezer for a few minutes before sharpening. You'll be amazed at how easily they sharpen and how little waste there is--and it doesn't alter the texture of the pencil, even if done repeatedly.
I hope Francois keeps these coming, because I'll keep buying!

I'm really drawn to chubby lip pencils like this and am always on the lookout for lip colors in the purple range. I saw this swatched on a blogger's site and it looked stunning on her -- kind of a plummy brown mauve-y mix with subtle pink and gold shimmer. I bought it online and tried it out and only then did it occur to me that the blogger is Asian and has completely different coloring than I do :/
I'm kind of on the fence about the color, but I like the way it goes on. It's advertised as a gloss, but I'd put it in the lipstick category. It's not at all sheer like a gloss and has the staying power of a lipstick. It feels good on my lips -- light and moisturizing. I've worn it quite a few times and am not even near having to sharpen it.
I'm 40 and at my age find bold lip colors kind of challenging. In my younger years I wore bright and vampy colors without giving it a 2nd thought, and those same kinds of colors can look really stunning on older women who need a bold lip to brighten the face. But at this stage in my life, too bright or too dark can be really aging or too childish, so it's dicey.
The color is gorgeous on my hand - the same way it was on the blogger - but on my lips it goes into the burgundy/wine category and looks really dark. However, if I blot it, the multifaceted highlights show up and it's quite pretty. I'd like it more if it had mauvier and browner tones, I think.
I've been wearing it with a cheap Ulta brand gloss I picked up called Sublime which has similar tones but on its own looks really blah. On top of Club Mix they make a nice shade that has all the tones I'm looking for - browny plummy mauve with peachy gold and pink shimmer.
