Oh my gosh, what's with all of the bad reviews? Pentachord Verdant is my first try of the Tauer creations and I just love it! My review is based on a sample given to me from a fellow perfumista and I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this fragrance. Yes, a little goes a long way and it's very long lasting. I get alternating wafts of spearmint, forest greens, and a lovely sweetness. I for sure would like a FB.

Wow, Verdant is really strange. At first, the mint kicked me in the teeth. Then I noticed there were 4 other notes. After a while, I started wearing just a drop on one hand in the morning (don't spray!!). It helped me feel energized and cheerful at 0600. I'm growing to like this totally alien space perfume....

I appreciate Andy Tauer's perfume line and love to support independent perfumers whenever possible, but I really just can't handle this one at all. It evokes a very strong scent memory for me, and unfortunately, not all scent memories are pleasant. Way back when, I was a girl scout and went to summer camp every year. One summer, we were housed in large tents set up on wooden platforms that could sleep eight girls. I believe this was the summer between 6th and 7th grade. One girl in my tent had a bed-wetting problem. After a long, hot West Texas summer day in the sun, her bedding had a very distinctive aroma. Urinous of course, but with a bit of a sweetish, "green" tinge to it. I had forgotten all about this until I sampled Mr. Tauer's Pentachord Verdant. Very evocative :) I'm afraid I will not be purchasing a bottle of this fragrance.

My apologies to Mr. Tauer, but the smell of this makes me nauseous. Ivy forest?!? Maybe, if that ivy forest is covering a shallow grave of tiny rotting woodland creatures. Perhaps it's the leather plus greens thing that has this effect, but to my nose it comes off as flesh that is just starting to rot covered in moss. Seriously.
Despite my negative reaction, I wore this for 3 days straight and didn't get the slightest bit of enjoyment until 10 HOURS into it, when it finally mellowed into a somewhat woody greenness.
