I've had my eye on l'impatiente for months now and today while I was leaving Shanghai airport dad spoiled me and got it for me!
I naturally have a very dark sense of style so I was really hoping for it to just been a dark yet subtle way of adding colour to my everyday black outfit haha.
And honestly this is such a beautiful lipstick. From the way its packaged to the way it sits on your lips. Its rich. Matte. Velvety. I absolutely love it.
The only down fall about this lipstick is the price, how it could be a little more matte, and the way it does go a little blotchy if you dont have a lip liner or a lip primer.

Other than that. If you can afford this baby. Do it. You wont regret it.

This is the most incredible dark lipstick I ever had. You don't even need a lipbrush to apply it, it goes on super smooth, lasts a few hours (depending on what you're doing). It just has the right consistency...I would highly recommend this!

I do own La Fascinante(No:38) which suits my skin tone. It's long-lasting and surprisingly not drying. Perfect choice for autumn and winter as it's name already suggests: "velvet".

Very annoying that this won't let me enter the color name and create a new review. This is for the color L'Impatiente from the Holiday collection 2012.
First, the texture. This to me is very silicon-y. Thin, non-creamy matte, but not drying. The only thing weird to me is that the color doesn't seem to go on evenly. You really need a lip pencil with this one.It does feel comfortable on the lips though. To me, if feels a lot like a long-wearing lip color.

the color reminds me a lot of Clinique black honey. It is a deep plum. Scary in the tube, but not at all scary on. Very beautiful. It could be sheered out very easily. If you are expecting a goth-type lipstick, you might be disappointed. Just a sophisticated plum color.

My lips are quite prone to flakiness and dryness. This is a good matte lipstick, but I will still have to apply balm before. I feel it slightly drying after a couple of hours of wear. My lips are generally not in tip-top shape at the moment, though. So I would not scare anyone off this lipstick on that account - it is a great, pigmented matte lipstick. I love its look!

My concrete shade is La Ravissante (the ravishing one). And ravissante it is, this shade! For a coral fan (correction: obsessed), it is a must have. It is a dark matte coral, and there are not many matte corals out there at all. Over and Scandal by Illamasqua are very neon, and very orange and pink, respectively.

La Ravissante is part of my top coral favorites. It is darker than my most classic matte coral, Bobbi Brown Calypose Coral Pot Rouge. Pimpante by Chanel itself is of course shimmery, but also way less opaque and lighter.

I want to try out La Somptueuse (dark red) and a light pinky shade.

I hate glossy lips particular on older women and I have never found a long wearing matte that isn't drying and leaves a nice stain until I tried this lipstick. I had to guess on colour since I have no Chanel counter near me and I ordered from Nordstrom. La Raffinee is a very wearable shade, doesn't bleed, doesn't feel like a matte going on, no pulling. Just make sure you exfoliate first. I have tried almost every lipstick brand but this one and rouge coco Mademoiselle are my holy grails. I am sticking with Chanels from now on, they are worth the money as you will use them right down to the bottom of the tube.

This is fantastic. Its an actual long wearing lipstick that feels comfy on my lips and does not dry them out. I love the texture. Its so silky smooth and light weight. I wear this with a very natural e/s like Rimmel Walnut Pearl e/s duo, pink blush like Artistry Moxie or Chanel de Soho, and it looks amazing! This lasted me 5-6 hours including eating and drinking. It left a nice stain behind and wore off beautifully and evenly. Def repurchase. I'm finally sold on matte lipsticks since I always hated them until now!!

You really can't go wrong with Chanel's Rouge Allure lipsticks in general, and the new Velvets are no exception. I avoided matte lipsticks before as the only ones I tried (MAC) were terribly drying; if there's anything I hate, it's the feeling of dry lips. On the other hand I'm not a fan of ultra sparkly/glossy lips either. The Rouge Allure Velvets are a happy medium, as they're not so matte as to make your lips look/feel bone-dry but not so moist as to defeat the purpose of wearing a matte lip. However, I still would recommend exfoliating lips before applying and putting on a dab of balm immediately after--if you put balm on before, the color can skip. I personally prefer applying with a lip brush. The colors are simple, sophisticated, and adult, so if you're trying to make a huge statement these are not your lippies. Longevity is superb, and the color is surprisingly transfer resistant. The only thing I didn't like was that they can't be quite drying after a few hours, so the Velvet formula isn't as moisturizing as the regular Rouge Allure formula is.

Ah, Chanel. Long have I resisted the siren call of your fantastic cosmetics, preferring to save my wallet the burden of loving anything more than your perfume.

When I went to the website and saw the ad for these new Velvet lipsticks, though, I knew I was in for it. As a vintage-loving gal and a lover of matte reds in general, anything in that family of lipsticks obviously gets my attention. I picked this up in #39, La Somptueuse. I'm reviewing formula here, I'll review colour in the listing for that one specifically.

One thing most gals hate about matte lipsticks is how ridiculously, incredibly drying they are. My lips chap easily, especially in winter, and this weekend I noticed I had more flaky skin than usual. Even so, I slicked on the lip balm, headed to the Chanel counter, and tried my luck. I put the shade on my hand first before buying, but I already knew what shade I wanted based on swatches. I shouldn't have worried. This formula is rich and buttery smooth, going on almost like a balm itself. The colour payoff is rich, highly pigmented, and absolutely gorgeous. The finish is matte and smooth. This stuff is amazing. It comes in a heavy tube with the well-known Chanel click mechanism. I am in love.

This is fantastic. I bought this because I was looking for a coral red lipstick and I found La Ravissante from this range. It is a beautiful colour which really looks good on my skintone and with my coloring. It is quite matte so looks very modern and cool. The packaging in divine! So sleek and shiny and modern. Absolutely beautiful. Will defninitely rebuy this if I ever run out ... which doesn't seem to be happening in the near future because the bullet is quite big. Highly recommended although not the cheapest ...

I bought No 37 L'Exuberante yesterday and...I LOVE IT!!! A neutral hot bright pink, it matches the Rose Exuberant nail polish perfectly. It is not as matte as I expected, more like a soft and nearly weightless creme. Looks gorgeous even without a lipliner and applies evenly. Love the pigment! Lasted through a sweaty spinning class where I was literally kissing the water bottle. I've tried several Chanel lipsticks, and this is by far my favorite. From Rouge Coco the only one I love is Cambon, the rest are too uneven and very noticeable on the lips. Rouge Coco Shine has no staying power. Rouge Allure Laque requires way too much precision and I don't like the smell particularly. Another noteworthy mention is the awesome packaging. I will absolutely buy more of them, primarily to substitute Gabrielle and Rivoli. I like the RAV so much that I have high hopes for the Rouge Allure lipsticks as well.

These new lipsticks from Chanel are fantastic. The texture is like nothing I've tried before - it goes on quite creamy and then seems to "set" itself to a matte finish. The look these lipsticks give is extremely sohphisticated and long-lasting, the absolute antithesis of gloopy glosses. I bought La Raffinee, which is a lovely pinky red. A previous reviewer said that the online swatches on the Chanel website are not accurate representations of the colours and I would agree with that, go to the counter to see the true colours and to feel the gorgeous texture!

Look at those glossy, shiny lips! They look so dated and old.
Come on! Who wants to be brought to 90's "Girl power" events again?
Chanel is changing our tastes. We all want a full mouth with intense, deep colour.
That's why Rouge allure velvet is made for. It's like having your mouth first treated with powder and then with lipstick, as women did during 40's.
But luckily nothing so uncomfortable. This lipstick blends fast on your lips like real velvet and it mattifies in one, two minutes.
It's like having a pampering cover on your skin.
That's comfort and a genius for winter. The colour doesn't fade, as it happens with most reds of Rouge Coco.
N. 34 La Raffinee is the best tone ever for brunettes and for blondes with golden, honey locks.
It's a dark rose in the sun that becomes more red with the artificial lights.
Really refined and classic. With its matt tones it enhances and sculpts perfectly the lines of the lips.
Buy it before it goes sold out. Throw out your bunch of glossy-gloss tubes.
From now on you can't be up without a soft, velvety mouth that never shines.
EDIT 10.5.11 I tried all the eight shades of Rouge Allure Velvet when I had a makeup lesson by nice Ezio, italian make up artist for Chanel. For reference my skintone is NW25-NC20, my hair is medium brown with sand highlights and I have goldenbrown eyes.
La Ravissante: I like it, but it's very orangey. Looks better with a full makeup treated face.
La Caline: not impressed by that. A plain cold rose.
La Raffinee: as I wrote before, the "it" colour of the range.
L'Exuberante: too pink for my skincolour.
La Distinguee: I bought it too. It's a luminous peach rose, perfect for day.
La Fascinante: a bright red that it's too much for everyone except for Dita Von Teese and a few others.
La Somptueuse: a very classic, deep red with warm tones. Perfect for fall.
L'Exquise: I was tempted by that. It's a very flattering brown red that looks good even in the sunlight.
EDIT 10.16.2011 I've taken away one lippie because after a month of daily use I've noticed that my lips are much more dry.
Use always a balm before applying it. I didn't do it so now I'm back to Rouge Coco Mademoiselle that never disappointed me!

This is the best lipstick I have ever tried. I went to the Chanel counter to get Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle 05 but the SA kind of pushed this new line on me. I tried it and went back for the lipstick. There are 8 shades in the line: 2 beige tones, two pinks, 3 reds and 1 brown tone. By all means DO NOT trust the colors they show you online, they do not match the actual shades at all! Go to the counter it's worth it.

I hardly even know how to describe this. It's just as advertized - a matte yet luminous finish. Your lips will literally feel like velvet, you can hardly feel that you have any lipstick on! It goes on smoothly and contours well, you don't even need a pen. I got it in #34 La Raffinée which seems to be a bright pink online but really is a dark pink/red color. If I apply very lightly then it's perfect for everyday wear, say at college or work. Or I can apply more and it's great to go out at night! There was also a beautiful coral shade I loved... I am rather fair (Guerlain Lingerie 02, Estee Lauder 1.0, MAC NC20) and all the shades looked great!

The lipstick isn't hydrating but it's not as drying as other lipstick (YSL...) I own. I think I'll buy La Mer lipbalm to wear under it but I wouldn't have to.

Very long lasting, I can eat, drink and it stays on for hours. The packaging is also gorgeous, classic 'click' mechanism we know from Chanel.

I would definitely purchase again, I do hope this is not a temporary line!
