For the price, it is a very good eye primer for starters. I found it made my eyeshadow last all day with no creasing, and the wand allows for quick, easy application. The reasons as to why I wouldn't repurchase this product is because I find it to be a little wet, and because I have fair skin and it comes off a little orangey on my skin. There are way better primers in the market I don't mind spending the money on & feel work better. Nyx, urban decay, too faced, lorac are my favourites.

I love this! Prevents creasing and makes shadows look brighter and stay on all day...wish the packaging was like two faced shadow insurance so u can get every bit but for $2 or whatever it is its great just as good as high end primers...also works good as a concealer if it matches ur skintone

It doesn't work for me. My eyeshadow started to crease after 1 hours, and 3 hours later its completely gone.

This primer works most of the time (85% of the time) but sometimes it makes my eyeshadow crease. Great for the price.

I like this product especially for the price. As it seems this is probably better for people who don't have oily lids. For me it works good, doesn't crease, my eye makeup lasts all day. It goes on really good with a brush and even fingers. I don't really have anything bad to say and for 3 dollars you can't really go wrong.

I admit the formula to this product is very wet and hard to use but I wipe my brush off a lot before applying it to my lids and its not too bad. I love that its a colored base so that I can apply my eyeshadow right away and the colors pop (I only use neutral colors). My eyes don't crease through out the day and it doesn't fade my color away either. It makes it a little hard for me to apply eye liner but I still mange. The price is definitely worth it and you get a lot of product for that price as well.

I bought this in desperate need of a primer base. It's a bit cakey and sticky and the smell isn't great too. But what I really don't like is the color. It's not neutral enough, and leaves my lids looking a bit orange. This is not a bad product by any means, but It's not stunning either. I find that it settles into lines quite easily leaving them looking orange. It does an okay job at intensifying pigment. Can't say too much about the staying power since I haven't used this often enough. Definitely a budget friendly buy but not comparable with, say UDPP.

It won't work on me at all. It does make no difference, if I use this base or not. My eyeshadow will still crease in 2-3 hours. It's also too watery and it can get messy in first try.

I wasn't a fan of this product at first and stuck to the sample sized Urban Decay Primer.
But I have finally figured out a way to use this product. The UDPP 's consistency is considered sheer compared to this product. Essence's Primer (EP) is thick and sticky! So when using this product, less is more. Due to its stickiness within the 30 seconds or so, I find this an amazing base for glitter.
For reference, I have relatively normal eyelids that can get a little oily. (Without primer, Maybelline Colour Tattoos usually don't crease on me but on a really humid day, it can)
Because creasing isn't an overall problem for me, I mostly use primers to intensify the colours of eyeshadow making them true to the colour in pan/vibrant and last longer. I find that when I don't use primer, my eyeshadow fades throughout the day. With the right primer however, it looks close to freshly applied.
Little info about the product.
- It is dirt cheap in Australia. $5 mark.
- It looks like a concealer! I am around an NC20-25 and I find that it smoothes out my eyelids and tints it a little. Does not alter the colour of eyeshadows though.
- The packaging is tacky. Looks cheap.. but hey it is cheap, so I'm not complaining.
- Sponge applicator like lipgloss packagings. Others call it unhygienic, I call it handy.
On to the real deal. The trick with this primer is to apply a small amount as over applying may cause the excess product on your eyelids to ball up when applying eyeshadow. I dab a minute amount on one eye, blend it out with my finger and while it's still sticky, I apply the eyeshadow and work on that eye. I then proceed to do the other eye. The intensity is amazing. Eyeshadows are vibrant and really do last.
Today I compared both EP and UDPP, the UDPP did not last against EP's! I'm am writing this review because I am sold. SOLD. I applied this at 5:30am and it's been 12 hours. (Went to the gym with eye make up for the sake of testing this out haha!) The eye with UDPP has faded a little but the intensity on the eye with the EP is vivid. I should also mention, I used Relvon's eyeshadow quad. The one that has 4 strips in the pan (discontinued). This is a chalky, powdery and overall crappy set of eyeshadows but wow, a sticky base can do wonders. It looks as if I applied the eyeshadows on wet!
Enough! If you're looking for a drugstore primer to intensify your shadows then definitely give this one a shot! I am never buying ELF (not good), Australis (not good), L'oreal decrease (good) NARS Smudge Proof (great) or.. UDPP (good) again.
EDIT: I used this under my eye before apply highlighter and concealer. POWOAH. Gone are the creases I used to get under there.

I picked this up at Shoppers (Canada) for $2.99 and am really glad I did!
I don't have oily eyelids, so please keep that in mind! I found this base to be rich and creamy. A little goes a long way with this! I use an ecotools brush to smooth this on to my lids. I've used this for both matte es, shimmer es, and pigments and I found this to work perfectly for me.
This product feels like a mix between MAC's p+p eye & UDPP.
I'll continue to buy this product as it doesn't crease for me, is extremely lightweight and is non-scented.
Give this a try, it's affordable and returnable!

I bought this because I thought it would be similar to the Benefit Stay Don't Stray, which I love(but hate the packaging). I like the packaging of this base a lot, and I like to use this as a concealer for under my eyes. It works fairly well and does cover up most of my dark circles. The shade could be a tad lighter though (I have medium skintone) and I wish it was a little less cakey? it still works though cos its not that noticeable.
I was lookng for a liquidy concealer and one that was cheap, and this works fine! I have yet to use it as an eyeshadow base though. I guess I would repurchase for the price and stuff, but I think I wanna try out more concealers/bases/

surprised at all the bad reviews on this product. purchased this over a week ago and ever since I have been using it every single day. yesterday I had put it on at about 7:30 in the morning and had it on all day until I got home at 10:30 that night. there was little creasing, it had gotten a tad oily but to be honest it wasn't too bad, I'm quite satisfied with it. for the price I'd say you can't really go wrong, even if it doesn't work for you, it's not like you're throwing away a lot $$ down the drain so give it a try, it might work for you!

Probably the worst primer I've ever used! Yes the price and packaging is decent but the product itself is terrible!!! I simply had to throw it out, I couldn't bare to look at it. (Thats a bit dramatic but its true) It made my eyeshadow DISAPPEAR even with my mac paint pot on top. My eyelids aren't ridiculously oily either which annoyed me even more, I walk out of the house with my shadow looking perfect, an hour later its not there any more. This product makes me so mad, completely put me off essence for a while now. Even now I'm paranoid my shadow isn't on even though I don't use it anymore, back to UDPP for me!

Normally I like essence products and maybe I just got a bad tube but this stuff was horrible. I normally don't review till after a week of usage cause I find somtimes with newly opened product it doesn't work as well for some reason well on myself anyway. I also realize that products don't work the same on everyone so hey maybe this will be great on someone else. First of all let me start by saying this stuff burns my skin when I put it on. How odd is that. Is that how it makes eyeshadow stay on all day by burning it to your skin? I don't know. Plus it didn't wow me my eyeshadow stays on all day without a primer to begin with. I had high hopes for this but was truely let down. One product that I do find works pretty good as an eye shadow primer and is super cheap is nyc cover up stick. So if looking for something budget friendly try that!

I like this product for the price because it is only $3. But the lasting power is only about 3 hours for my eyeshadows to still look good and not crease. It does NOT dry clear so on darker skin it may look ashy. Compared to my favourite primer... Urban Decay Primer Potion.... It doesn't really compare.

For sure a Hit 'n miss, I wasn't sure what to expect, When i first tried it out i found it creased but made my shadow more vivid, Then after watching a review video the woman stated she only put a little tiny dab on and it was wonderful for her so i tried that and IT WORKED!, As long as you don't cake it on there should not be any issues, For sure it's a affordable, product that i would buy again.

I like this better than the stay don't stray by benefit.I find that as a base this one is alot less shimmery. This is a yellow/ beige color so if you have medium skin tone this might be better for you than stay don't strays (white sparkles).I haven't had any creasing with either product but for the price will stick with the essence version.

this did absolutely nothing for me. the consistency is way to creamy/rich to not crease. the color payoff is no better and i get all the creasing as i was not using a primer. this could work as a concealer though, if you dont like to waste your money out.

This base did not work on me at all. It creased within an hour and it made my shadows really muddy. The base was easy to blend on my eyes but my shadows were hard to blend out. I even tried applying two coats and it lasted a bit longer but my shadows were still muddy and there was creasing. I won't be buying this.
