Hands down one of the most effective, cheapest, and great smelling dry shampoos I've used. Second only to the hair powder.

I really wanted to like this product!! I love not your mothers. But as a lot of the other reviews said, it is 'gunky' and makes the hair unworkable.. I have severe dandruff, and it seemed to be controlled until I sprayed this on the top of my head. It immediately dried out my scalp and my dandruff went crazy. And because the formula is so gunky, the dandruff kept getting stuck in my hair. This made it impossible for me to get the dandruff out completely. Also the smell is very strong and gag inducing. I gave this two stars because I got it on sale at ulta for half price. But compared to my usual favorite dry shampoo, Pssst, this is just a huge disappointment!

I work retail, so occassionally, I am scheduled to work at 8:00 a.m. When that happens, I usually take my shower the night before. My hair is normally pretty oily, so it looks greasy and limp if I don't shampoo it every day. I bought this dry shampoo on a whim. It's relatively cheap, and a fairly big bottle.
When I first started using it, I loved the results. It did a good job of controlling the oil and you couldn't even tell I'd washed my hair the night before. I also liked that you got the desired effect using very little product.
But then in March, I was schedule for 8:00 a.m. shifts 5 days in a row. I washed my hair the night before, and then used this dry shampoo before work in the morning. The following week, I noticed a major change in my hair. It became very dry, brittle, and started falling out. When I would run my fingers through my hair, I would find numerous strands between my fingers. I also started noticing more hair falling out in the shower. Not enough to be alarming, but definitely more than normal. My hair started looking like straw, which has NEVER been a problem for me before. It had to be this dry shampoo. It completely destroyed my hair. It has been 7 months, and my hair still hasn't recovered. It is still very dry, brittle, and falling out. I've tried using several deep conditioners to try and restore it to its former healthy condition, but I have yet to find one that works. Needless to say, this went straight into the trash, and I will NOT be repurchasing.
Also, I remember seeing this product on the Ulta website. So I clicked on the ingredient list. Here they are: Isobutane, Propane, SD Alcohol 40-B, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Isopropyl Myristate, Silica, Fragrance..
I was absolutely floored! The first three ingredients are isobutane, propane, and alcohol. No wonder it destroyed my hair. I would not recommend this dry shampoo to anyone. I definitely do not understand all the positive reviews. Terrible product.

I bought this dry shampoo because I wanted to try and wash my hair less. It is the second dry shampoo I've ever tried. First being Tresseme. Now you can only go up from that monstrosity so I figured for the price I'd give it a try. I actually really liked it at first, it seemed to give my hair volume and it has a tolerable smell. I wished my hair would've looked a little cleaner but for $4 for a huge can I wasn't complaining.
Then I found out I would be getting hip surgery soon so I wanted to grab another can of dry shampoo for when I wouldn't be able to shower properly. I picked up batiste. That sold me. I won't buy this again because batiste works wonders on my blonde fine thick hair. It does leave a white cast but it brushes out and it looks like I just got out of the shower which is much more than I can say for NYM. NYM also feels gritty you really have to work it in before you brush it out If you can't get your hands on a can of batiste, I would recommend this but I would also say that batiste does a better job if its available.

Terrible. I have lots of long hair with thin strands and roots that get oily after a full day, so I love dry shampoo and I often try ones I haven't used before. I had a coupon for hair products at CVS so I chose this because it was cheap and the bottle was amusing. Unfortunately, it's crap. It makes my hair gunky. I regularly use dry shampoo by Batiste, Oscar Blandi, Rene Furterer, etc. and I have never come across a dry shampoo that was this thick. The bottle is a spray can, which is my favorite way of dispensing dry shampoo, but it seems like the formula of this particular dry shampoo is much less elegant than others. It comes out white (not a problem, since you brush out the leftover powder), but it just does not brush out well. It makes my hair heavier and does a garbage job at soaking up oil. I've tried using a lot, using a little, spraying from further away and nothing works. I tried brushing my hair first to distribute the oil, waiting a little longer before rubbing it in and brushing it out and it is still gunky. Just for laughs, I used this on the front of my head and Batiste on the back of my head and the Batiste worked beautifully, while the Not Your Mother's made my hair heavy and gunky. Definite pass.

This was my 2nd dry shampoo and it preformed really well and I do like the sleek and colorful packaging. But I just don't like the smell,I force myself to finished it but now that it's gone I won't repurchase.

This was my first dry shampoo & I love it ! The smell is really clean and refreshing. You do have to be careful tho. If you wait to long on 1 area you will get a white spot of powder thats a lil hard to remove. My hair is super oily and a few quick sprays is all I need! It will also take you ages to use all of this up!! Def better then the PSST dry shampoo which smells weird & comes out wet. This one comes out as a powder. LOVE!

I've been curious to try this dry shampoo for awhile now. Not your Mother isnt available in Canada that I know of as far as at the drugstore, so I grabbed a bottle of this when I was in the US.
- the smell is clean and pleasant. my tres emme dry shampoo's scent is too strong compared to this
- you see very little white residue after spraying, and it can easily be removed by just brusing your hair out
- oil is instantly absorbed and adds volume to the roots of my hair.
- the size of the bottle and amount of product is decent and seems like it will last me close to 1 month
- I purchased this for $8.00 US. I feel like it might've been marked up where I purchased it. Compared to my $4 Tres emme one, this is a bit more expensive but I dont mind.
- with 3-day hair, I do have to spray this after 2 hours. the oils in my roots start to produce again .

I really like this. I have never tried dry shampoo before using this product so I had no idea what to expect but it works really well. You spray it in your hair and then brush it out. You have to make sure you brush it out all the way or else some spots of your hair will be white. I use this on second-day hair if my hair is a little more greasy than normal. After using my hair no longer feels greasy. Great product for the price.

I was actually really surprised by this! It works for me. I used to use an Ojon dry shampoo, but they changed the formula and I switched to Stila's "hair refresher." I love the Stila BUT I forgot to pack it on a trip, and bought this Not Your Mother's to use. I love it. It gives my hair the dry, almost chalky texture that I like on the day after washing, and gives volume back. (Dry meaning it gets rid of the oil, unlike Oscar Blandi, Klorane, etc, which smell nice but leave my hair still slick/oily/heavy.) It doesn't have much of a smell--just a faint clean smell, not flowery or perfumey. Maybe slightly cucumber? I'll definitely buy this again, possibly instead of the Stila. This stuff does spray on white, and it's very visible for a minute, but once you rub it in and around, it isn't visible anymore.
