Tried a sample. Sticky and shiny finish. Oily around T zone. Doesn't particularly feel moisturizing

I use this moisturizer strictly for night time and I love it. Kiehl's is one of my trusted brands for skincare and I normally don't do much for my daytime skincare routine except wash my face put on some sunscreen and I'm out the door. I like the texture of this gel cream, it soaks up really easily into my skin and I experienced no breakouts what so ever. I felt that it wasn't that good layering over my acne lotion from my dermatologist because the acne medication is sticky, but I found other ways to make it work like putting my acne medication on top. I wake up with plump and moisturized skin and I definitely really like this. It's enough for my skin even when I have the flakes from the fall weather. A little goes a long way and I'm loving it. I love how it doesn't clog my pores either because I tend to get white heads and blackheads really easily, so thats a good thing. :) Definitely my go to moisturizer for any occasion, I haven't tried it during the winter, but I'll see and I'll let you guys know. I'm also in love with the toner and I think both the oil-free toner and gel cream go great together with my sensitive combination acne-prone skin. :)

edit: forgot to mention I gave the gel cream 4 stars because I wish it came with a scoop so I don't have to dip my fingers into the tub. :/

I have oily skin and I've been using this moisturizer for many months. Initially I bought it because the I thought the oil-free part appealed to me, but my face still gets oily after one hour... it is less oily as before though. the oil control isn't as good as I expected it to be, but it does keep my face moisturized and there's no stinging sensation or whatsoever despite my sensitive skin.

feels light when i apply it after cleansing, but when my face starts to get oily, it feels very heavy and uncomfortable.

pros: been using it for a long time and there has been no breakouts or whatsover despite my sensitive skin; easy to apply and it does keep my face moisturized

cons: oil control isn't as good and it feels uncomfortable after a while

This is a good moisturiser. The product is pretty light and applies on easily. It managed to keep my pretty oily skin dry for some hours! It smells kinda pleasant too.

I took 1 lip off because I have been using the same tub for a few months now and it discoloured. It was slightly milky white when I first bought it and now it's more like brownish. Like having tea added into it.

I did not dare to use it seeing the colour change and I bought another!

This gel is recommended for oily, and acne prone skin. Despite being a moisturising gel, it feels quite heavy, and takes a while to absorb. Once it has absorbed, it is still rather heavy, leaving a shiny residue on my skin. If anything, this moisturiser made my skin more oily. I thought it may be because I wasn't cleansing or exfoliating properly before applying, or my skin needed to adapt to the moisturiser, however, after using it for 2 weeks, I had broken out so badly because of all the excess oil on my skin, I had to discontinue using it. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I found this gel cream a bit sticky, though it says it's oil free. Compare to Lancome Hydra Zen gel cream, though more expensive than Kiehl's, I like that better. The face stays matte for a longer period of time.

Overall this product is quite expensive and it is not effective for my skin which is oily in the T-zone, acne prone and sensitive. After using it, my skin gets oilier and in the next days some pimples start to appear. It has a good gel-like consistency and the packaging is good. I really like Kiehl's but this product isn't for me.

I love this product! I have acne prone skin that gets really dry from proactiv, so I've been looking desperately for a good moisturizer to wear on top that would not break me out. This is probably better for oily skin types, but for me it's doing it's job just fine, would definitely buy it again!

Great ingredients for acne-prone skin but i won't purchase it again because i can not wear make up over it, it cracks a lot.

EDIT: I removed one star cause its not sensitive skin friendly. I've been using the acid treatment from avene as of late and I cannot use this product even by itself. It stung my face so badly.
EDIT2: I decided to give it a try again after stopping the use of glycolic acids for a month. And again, it caused me to react badly, my entire face was covered in itchy red bumps and also several acne breakouts. BAD PRODUCT.

I have been using this for the past week. My face has been very oily combi as of late, plus it is apparently sensitive to the silicones used in moisturizers (I guess the film of silicones made me break out).
What I like about this gel cream is that it is oil free, cone free and paraben free! Parabens are terrible as they can cause damages to your hormones.
Anyway, this is great for oily skin people. It absorbs quickly and keeps my face LESS(not totally) oily. I live in a very humid country so most moisturizers are a big no-no for me.

What sucks is that it has a high alcohol content, probably to replace the parabens as a preservative. I guess it's a trade off but I'm okay with it. This cost me S$48. I do not like the salesperson who sold this to me at their branch in Ion Orchard, as they were very pushy and kept asking me to buy this and that when all I wanted was this moisturizer. Not happy. They were also very stingy with samples. Everything is either out of stock or they'll just give you one pathetic sample.

It does not hydrate my skin, instead it makes my nose turn flaky! After applying make up, i can feel dryness around nose and mouth area. I don't like the feeling upon application, somehow it makes me feel like i'm applying UHU gum on my face, with the stickiness and alcoholic smell. My skin is combi/oily but sensitive in some area. definitely not worth it!

I am a huge kiehls fan and for years I have used the original ultra facial moisterizing lotion, but I noticed it started to make my face greasy so I was glad they came out with an oil free version. I love the feel of the gel! I feel like it absorbs really quickly too, yeah its sticky, but only for like a second, then its gone. It's great under my make up and doesn't get greasy at all! I love it!

The advert for this product was convincing enough, so i bought one at the airport.

Packaging:
It wasn't too bad... It's one of those jar type things where you have to stick your finger in, but I didn't mind it too much

Pros:
No funny smell
Not too expensive
easily available in most countries

Cons:
Does not work at all!
Been using it for 1 month:
- Sticky and shiny finish
- my T-zone gets oily within 15 mins
- Mild moisturizing effects only

The L'Occitane Riz Rice Ultra-Matte Face Fluid is a million times better, although more expensive. (i'm on my 5th bottle, caz it finishes too quickly)

Im actually not sure if I would buy this again, though I chose No as my answer. It feels a little bit sticky after u applied this on, and I dont apply just a little bit, I applied an adequate amount that I feel should be applied as a moisturizer each time I use this.

Overall, my skin has not reacted to it yet and im just using a sample given to me by the SA at Kiehl's.

Bought this producrt and have been using it for a week now and I think it works fantastically. I use a q-tip to take a small amount out of the jar, which is really all you need. I think that may be why some people say this product feels sticky (using too much).

I do get some stinging, as others have mentioned, but it only lasts a few minutes and has no ill-effects on my face other than it turning red for a bit. What's a little concerning is that it doesn't always sting, only occasionally. Kind of weird. Either way, it leaves my face very conditioned, balanced looking and matte. I love it. I also use the oil-free face wash of the same line, and it is by far my favorite.

I hate this moisturizer!!!
1) it stings my face for like 20 seconds

2) it's has a very sticky feeling after applied on the face, I had to wash it off because it's so uncomfortable. And takes like forever for the skin to absorb the gel.

3) the smell is awful, had a really weird smell

And definitely not worth the money.
If you have oil skin I recommend you use the Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel, it smells ok and feels very comfortable on the face, absorbs quickly too

I purchased the Ultra Facial Oil-Free gel cream over the weekend and have used it AM/PM for the last three days. My skin is combination/oily, and I have particular issues with a very oily t-zone. My skin is sensitive to most products (very acne prone) and so I was reluctant to try it...

So far, my skin has reacted very well to it. No breakouts, and I'm not too sure what the others were saying about stinging/burning - it goes on very smoothly and doesn't have a sticky finish like others have mentioned. In fact I find it to be very light and almost refreshing, although the consistency probably does put people off initially. The cream is really actually a more watery, thin texture than what we are traditionally used to as a "cream." It requires very little product and I find it easy to apply.

I'll have to continue use to see if it "normalizes" my skin long-term (their terminology, not mine). So far my t-zone has remained oily as per usual, but skin has felt much softer and not parched/dry as it usually does.

---

UPDATE: Jan 30, 2012
Unfortunately, I will not be buying this again - the entire container did not last long at all (I feel honestly like the product evaporated with each use) and my skin was not hydrated at all after using the product. Yes, it was light and easy to apply (cool and refreshing, even) but it did not achieve the results or skin tone I had desired. My skin became even more oily than usual (the opposite of what is supposed to happen) and for the price, I would not repurchase.

This product didn't work for me at all. I have sensitive skin that is dry on the outside and oily on the inside. I bought it because i read about rave reviews, but it made my face really red after application, and it stings really badly as well. I'm guessing it might be due to the high alcohol content in this product, but i don't usually get such a strong reaction even with other products that contain alcohol denat. I also dislike the scent of the product. I also did not see any improvement in my skin condition even with continued usage. Will definitely not repurchase this product, it's not worth the price at all.

I love this moisturiser... I HAD a very oily T-zone with dry cheeks and temples so I found it difficult to find a moisturiser that reduces oil without stripping the moisture from my skin. This actually works and it's the first moisturiser I've ever used that didn't make my skin feel drier after applying it. It's crazy but the dry patches are no longer dry and flaky and the oily patches are no longer oily...
I love the whole Kiehls Ultra Oil-free line and I'm really shocked at how much my skin has improved. My pores have reduced in size and I found myself blotting the oil from my t-zone only once a day if at all.... I will definitely be repurchasing these products =)
