Wow! I think I'm in love! This lipstick is so wonderful- I was a little scared of how dark it was in the tube, but once it was on, it just made me feel so awesome. I can't wait to wear it out somewhere and figure out what to do with eye makeup to complement it!

This is a Pro shade which I managed to pick up in the 2011 MAC Me Over collection. It's a dark blackened-plum lipstick in a rich, velvet finish. Similar to Diva lipstick, but less red and more vampy. Totally in line with the whole "film noir" feel it is named for.

Since it's a matte formula, the lasting power is great and it does not feather even without a lip liner. That said, it is not hard to apply and does not drag unduly on my lips or make them chapped, as this is not a retro-matte like Ruby Woo. The lipstick stays true to the shade it is in the tube. Also stands up well to having gloss applied over it, since it's a pigmented matte texture.

It may seem over the top but I love it most paired with dark smoky eyes for a glamorous 20's inspired look.

One word of caution if you drink, talk or eat throughout the day; Like all lipsticks, the color at the center of your lips will transfer and fade away over time, and that will be instantly more noticeable with a dark shade like this, so some touch ups will be in order to retain that perfectly-painted look.

Very pretty and vampy lipstick, it can be worn for daytime as well as night. I always feel so sophisticated when I wear it and the matte finish is so edgy but still classy, I love this lipstick. NW40 for reference.

I am pretty impressed with this lipstick, howver as is the case with so many matte lipsticks, it can be slightly drying. In order to avoid this, i first use a lipbalm or some vaseline. I then line and fill my lips with Rimmel lipliner in Black Tulip, after which I apply the lipstick. I find that using it this way makes it last longer and also it isn't as drying. Overall a fantastic colour for day and night. During the day I wear it with a very subtle eye (eg. just mascara), however at night I am a little more bold and add some eyeliner for a bold look!!! A great colour and I would definitely recommend!!

This lipstick is absolutely WONDERFUL! It is a dark reddish purple. It kind of reminds me of Mac's Media. I love pairing it with Mac lip liner in Portside as well as Beet. Depending on which one you choose, you get a different outcome. With the beet lip liner, you bring out the red in the lipstick, whereas with the portside liner, you bring out the dark purplish, plumminess! It is absolutely my favorite for fall/winter so far. I love it so much I actually went to get a second one and the Mac website was sold out! Either way, I got myself a back up :-). For reference, I am porcelain in skintone (MUFE HD 110 & Nars sheer glow Mont Blanc) and it absolutely looks wonderful with a bit of brown on the eye lids or even the retro liner! A definite must for the fall/winter seasons!

MAC's Prince Noir lipstick is from the Mac Me Over Collection that came out on August 25, 2011. I have wanted this lipstick since February when we started hearing buzz and seeing the face charts with it. It's everything I wanted in a matte lipstick. The only little thing I wasn't too pleased with was that the color description has it as a deep blue purple, but it's more of a burgundy/redish purple lipstick instead. MAC has really outdone itself with this new matte formula. The color payoff is intense, but you can make it less subtle if you prefer. The lipstick lasted about 4/5 hours on me w/o a touch up and as it fades it leaves a beautiful lip stain on your lips. This is definitely a must have shade for the Fall/Winter. Go for it ladies. You will not be disappointed.
