This is a HORRIBLE product, avoid Bare Minerals at ALL COSTS!!

Got this for myself on a splurge (this is Expensive with a capital E) and am regretting it terribly. When I first used it, I loved the effect the powder gave. It was really powder-cream as the write-up promised. And the blush that the starter kit came with gave my face nice definition.

But after using it twice, I noticed that my skin began to itch slightly. The itch got so bad on my fourth wear that I felt like I had to scratch my entire face off. It was so unbearable that I popped into the first drugstore I saw, bought a pack of make-up remover wipes and wiped the whole thing off before I put my nails to my face. Never used it since.

I discovered later that some of my friends had the same problem using this and she put it down to perspiration. She said that when she used it and did not perspire, her face did not itch.My research online said that the itch was due to bismuth oxychloride in the product. This is DEFINITELY NOT a pure-minerals product. I would give this a minus rating on MUA but unfortunately MUA does not allow that so I had to give it a 1.

DO NOT BUY!!!

I give this product a 4/5 because for the following reasons:

- it provides wonderful matte coverage (i have acne/acne scars)

-lasts almost all day

-easy to apply (tap, swirl, buff!)

-lasts for a few months

Cons:

-can sometimes cause a slight irritation (possibly allergic to one of the ingredients)

-somewhat expensive

-can only purchase at a bare escentuals location

I've made the mistake of not completely tightening the top and the powder went EVERYWHERE. it was not a pretty sight (or easy clean up).

I have used BareMinerals products for the past 7 years due to the fact that it provides great coverage and does not break my skin out. While I have to admit that my skin is not crystal clear, this makeup does help hide any trace of imperfection and gives me more confidence. I would suggest purchasing a BareMinerals kit with a full set of brushes and mineral veil. It's a perfect starter kit!

I used to wear BE original formula when it first came to stores. I quit usuing it a couple years ago becuase it would make me oily. I just recently started using it again. I think it will be my winter foundation only. I love the coverage and glow it gives me...but I will hate that "glow" once my Arizona summer is in full force. It's weird because without makeup, I am not oily at all. But with this foundation and extremely hot temps, I get oil in my Tzone.During the winter, this is amazing. So, I highly recommend it for my skin type in the not-so-warm months. When summer comes around, I will try the matte version again.

Also, just an FYI- I use this over Hardy Candy Skin Perfecting Primer. I like BE's Primetime, but not as much as Hardy Candy.

I dont like the sticky (silky as they claim) feeling of BE minerals. It is buildable, but it looks really dry on my skin. and the color is not a perfect match, I looks pink with this shade, and switch to golden medium

I actually can't decide if I would buy this again or not, because while it did make me look flawless and I always received compliments while wearing it, it also made me break out from time to time and it does settle in to creases and wht not , doesn't work great for dry ski I guess.

When BE was new to the market, I tried this shade and I loved it. I was not happy with the short duration that it lasted on my skin but the shade was exactly my shade. I am supposedly NC30 but I am not that yellow. My skin is mostly beige than yellow. In fact, yellow shades make me look sick. The other thing that I do not care for in BE is their mineral veils. The original veil does not have a tint but it creates an ashy shade on the mmu. So I do not apply the mineral veil on this. When I apply this over my beloved Palladio Primer, it stays on for a long time. I also like the fact that this foundation truly makes my skin look and feel better. My test is always to see how my skin looks and feels when I wash off my foundation and indeed, this makes my skin look and feel good. I guess I am hooked on BE now. Last, but not least, I am not happy about the price on these products and that is why I only use their foundation.

this makes good skin better and since i can't claim that privilege, this foundation gets 2.5 lippies.

ITCHY: it makes my skin itch once i sweat a little which is shocking to me since reacting to makeup is almost unheard of for my tough, big pored, combination skin.

PORE-EMPHASISING: in day light, this foundation insists on highlighting the unevenness of my skin and on darkening my pores. even prime time's magic cannot save this. and prime time can save a lot.

AWESOME GLOW: i still use this sometimes cos of the incredible (im so happy and healthy) glow it gives although i restrict its glory to when there'll be cool air and dimmer lights. and since i don't lead a blanche dubois like existence, it's not very useful to me :(

I used to use this alone, but recently I've been using this foundation as a setting powder over liquid foundation. I prefer using this product over pressed powders. It gives a great flawless finish that's so light and pretty hard to look cakey. Another product I buy over and over again with this, is their foundation in Dark. It's by far the best contour/bronzer ever. Bare essentuals is great for a natural, flawless look.

I have been using bare essentuals since December , treated myself to the starter kit as a treat. Did I like it at first, NO felt i wasted £49 , but I kept trying it and can say finally it is working , my skin looks lovely with it on, covers beautifully ... I have a few under eye wrinkles but it does not settle into them. It does take a little bit more than the amount they say ( but not much ) I think it is all down to application technique. I think it is the easiest to apply and may never go back the liquid foundation again.

Devoted to BE since 2003 and although I used other foundations over the years, I always went back to BE. While the others had similar claims as BE, none were able to rise to the claim like BE-my skin looks very youthful, no lines (although I have to give genetics a high five), and the minerals glide on smoothly. I never had problems with dark under eye circles or crows-feet so thankfully the cosmetic doesn't settle into lines that aren't there. BE leaves my face with a natural glow and the colors are extremely forgiving and non-irritating and has been my SG (saving Grace) for nearly a decade. Here's to many more wonderful years together BE/BM! Cheers!

Ah yes, the one and only bare minerals. After countless tv infomercials, I finally broke down and bought this, and was surprised at how well it was. It covered flawlessly, and you could control how much coverage you wanted (sheer - med - heavy) I was in heaven! And continued to use it for about a year, and had nothing bad to say about it. Until ... I don't know what really happened, but my skin just started to look super cakey when I applied it. In photos it looked like I was wearing a mask?! I thought maybe it was the shade, so I switched and that didn't seem to help. I was so much in love with this product that I just didn't want to believe that it wasn't working for me like it use to, but I eventually gave up - and found a new lovely foundation. I have come to the conclusion that with my oily, acne prone skin type ... the powdered style mineral make up just doesn't work for me. Too bad. I really did love this stuff. I did however have to store it in it's own bag, because the powder gets EVERYWHERE. Even with the click, lock and go system.

I have used Bare Minerals for about 8 years and I have to say, it's time to give it up. I first purchased this foundation when I was 24. I was in love! It has good coverage (sheer to full depending on application) and good lasting power (has lasted at the gym and club). My complexion was flawless! It was really quick and easy to apply, although it was a little messy with the sifter and lid, etc. The reason I have decided to abandon it after so many years is because as I have aged, I have acquired a few fine lines, and BE foundation emphasizes this. It is also pretty poor at covering dark circles (again, it sinks into fine lines when you apply enough and doesn't cover if you apply too little). I seriously started thinking about switching when fine lines would show up only when I was wearing this foundation. My skin has always been dry but now I feel I need a more moisturizing foundation to prevent dullness. The shimmer in the BE foundation was increasingly starting to look ashy or chalky more frequently than radiant. It might sound silly, but I almost feel I'm ending a meaningful relationship. We were so good together for so many years, but it just isn't working anymore. I am sorry to have to move on.

The only thing i was set off by is the price. Its not reasonable in my 15 year old budget to buy this 28 dollar thingy that doesnt last me more than 3 months. In the tutoral the lady is like putting tiny amounts of it in her hand, yeah im using like 10 times that to get to the level of coverage it promises. Thats the only thing i was not happy with. I never bought it again for that reason. Otherwise its a beautiful NATURAL foundation thats great for people who can afford to buy it :)

I'm one of those people that switch from foundation to foundation depending on my mood. I've got from BE to MAC to Revlon Colorstay and back to BE after a horrible breakout with Revlon. This is the only foundation that rarely breaks me out. If it does, it goes away within a day or two. The sales associate matched me flawlessly with Medium Beige in the original formula. The foundation looks gorgeous in pictures but I live in the humid climate of Florida and I honestly wish it would not look greasy after a few hours. The only reason I used Revlon was because it would stay flawless after a few hours but the breakouts I got from it weren't worth a few hours of matte. BE is now the only thing I use until I can find something with more benefits.

This foundation is the best I've used yet, I've never found a foundation that ticks all the boxes until I was recommended this by two of my friends. I wasted lots of money buying expensive foundations believing they would be the best for my skin. This make up provides good coverage, doesn't make me look orange and doesn't dry out my skin. It looks really natural and would recommend it to anyone with sensitive or dry skin. If this foundation is used with the bronzer it gives you a lovely complexion....5/5 from me!! :)

I use a primer first (Clinique) which fills in any large pores and also leaves a matte finish. Then I use a brush to set the BareMinerals foundation. After that I use Mineral Veil by Bare Escentuals (same company as Bare Minerals) to complete the process. It looks very natural and stays on all day

I'm a former liquid foundation junkie (MAC NC40) and this is my favorite foundation of all time!!! My husband compliments my skin everytime I wear it after switching from liquid. He also notices when I switch to liquid and tells me he prefers "The Minerals". This foundation covers EVERYTHING. Use the concealer brush to dab on extra product where needed first, then buff on with a kabuki brush. I like to finish with the "Clear Radiance". I will purchase this for the rest of my life, even when I wear liquid foundation I dust a light wash over my face.

This is junk and a complete waste of money. Messy, and delivers poor coverage. It is made up of rather large particles (not finely milled at all). Also, buyer beware! I read that when airborne, breathing in the particles can cause cancer, I think it's the titanium dioxide. Be sure to hold your breath while applying this, or if I were you, I'd just take it back. I've found that BE packages their products in such a pretty, "girly" way to make their buyers "feel good" about purchasing their overpriced mess. This belongs in a drugstore.
