This is a nice warm deep red with gold shimmer to it. The polish applies well and is streak free. There is nothing really special about this polish, i think i have one too many red shades. That said, overal it is a nice colour and will look good on most skin tones.

All I can say is WOW!!! My HG vamp color!! This is a warm-toned, dark garnet red with red microshimmer. I have slight yellow tones in my fair skin and this color did wonders for making my hands not look sallow. The application was a dream - very slight streaking on the first coat but totally opaque and even on the second. And it looked like GLASS when I was done - even BEFORE the top coat which I then added. I did have some trouble with the smaller brush but I switched to the prowide from a different bottle on the second coat and application was much easier. I think there would have been fewer streaks on the first coat with the prowide brush. I can't comment on the wear yet but I expect to have tip wear by day two as I type all day. This would be a definite repurchase if I ever ran out. Two thumbs up!!
EDIT: Going on day #6 of this manicure and the only visible sign of wear is very minor tip wear. It's still highly shiny, no chipping near the cuticles, and no crazing or cracking of the polish. I believe I could easily get another few days out of this with minor touch-ups at the tips.

I love this color. There are very few colors I feel that way about, but every time I try a different red (always on my toes, I only wear nudes on my fingers) I always wish I had just stuck to this one. Yes, it's quite dark, and probably more of a winter color than one for the beach -- but I wear it year round because it's so pretty on me. Deep red/burgundy with a barely perceptible gold shimmer to it, it is always elegant. My skintone is a medium Asian olive and it's very flattering.

I had seen several pictures of this one and they totally had me lemming CotG so I was sad to discover it is discontinued. However, I was lucky enough to receive it in a recent swap. After finally getting my hands on this one I have to say I’m a tad disappointed. I don’t hate the color, it just isn’t as pretty on me as it was in the pictures I saw. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood for a red the day I wore it, but to me it was just ok rather than the WOW I’d felt when I first saw pictures. The gold shimmer is very noticeable and creates such great depth. It’s pretty even indoors, which is where I am most of the work week. I will keep it and try it again though, because it really is very pretty in the bottle and I think it deserves a fair chance. Application was easy and I only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

Love this color! It's so worth it. So i bought this color years ago and I never used it until a few months ago. I was never into the dark colors, but I decided to use it. It's quite lovely, It's almost black, but when it's under the sun, there's a purplish/copper undertone.

This shimmery, coppered, reddish brown is a jewel - it's so gorgeous. I don't usually do deep nail polish on my hands, leaving the color to my toes, but I wouldn't be opposed to this for my fingernails. As with all OPI polishes, wear is lovely and long, and it doesn't streak.

This polish was definitely worth the wait. I'm in love! Changing of the Garnet is before my time (before I was "into" polish) but I was able to get my hands on this via swap. Gorgeous, dark deep garnet red with superfine microglitter that adds a little extra umpf that RtaP and R&J lack. CotG does looks a bit more brown in indoor lighting than RtaP and more reddened that R&J, but it is really burgandy red in direct sunlight. A must have for me but if you aren't able to get your hands on it FP Black Cherry (or is it Mixed Media Maroon?)is supposed to be a very close dup. For reference, I'm a warm toned GGG.

I'm just sort of "meh" about this color. I don't love it, I don't hate it. It is pretty, but it just didn't wow me enough to keep it.

Truth be told, I was quite disappointed with this polish. While the colour itself was stunning, the application was far less pleasant. Changing of the Garnet is from OPI's 2002 European collection and reminds me of a less brown version of Romeo and Joliet. This polish is quite antiquated which may be one reason why it was so disgustingly streaky and bubbly. Anyway, the fact of the matter is that I really struggled to get a smooth finish with this one. Even with three coats, I was less than satisfied. Desperate for perfect coverage, I layered it with Charge it in Milan. The orange undertones in the latter really amped up the deep ruby-russet of Changing of the Garnet for a truly glamorous result. It's a little difficult to describe the resultant colour but my best effort to classify it would be as a deep sparkling blood jewel. Glamorous without being vampy, this is the quintessential colour for candlelight dinners and fancy restaurants, or any game that requires seduction. I painted my tips and toes with CotG layered with CiiM for New Year's Eve and had many people (mostly men) comment on how sensuous the colour looked. If you're dark-skinned, this would look fabulous on you (I'm an NW 35 for reference) and I'm confident it would look equally well on fairer skintones. Overall, I did not enjoy using CotG by its own due to the less than perfect application but will continue to use it layered with Charge it in Milan. The only reason I rated it as high as I did is because everyone else here seems to like it, and I was reluctant to bring the rating down :) Might have been just my luck to get a bad bottle. I won't be repurchasing.

I really love this color - especially as a winter/fall toe color. It is a true, deep garnet - reddish brown with shimmer. It's a great neutral red to wear with peep-toe shoes, it doesn't clash with any I've tried so far. The wear is fabulous too - this is a must-have.

I am comparing this to Romeo and Juliet as well as Russian to a Party... They all look slightly different in the bottle due to the pearl powder but once it goes on (full 2 coats) the difference is really rather marginal... I am rather fair so all burgundy reddish looks good on me... (hands and toes)

In the bottle this shade reminds me of a redder Romeo & Joliet. It's got the same copper shimmer, but the base is decidedly more red. It's got a pretty multifaceted shimmer, and it's very interesting to look at in different lights. It's also pretty warm in tone due to the copper tone of the shimmer. This is a d/c shade and it's really quite pretty, so snag it if you can if you find it at a good price, but I wouldn't let yourself get gouged for it as there are so many gorgeous reds out there. Finger Paints Mixed Media Maroon is a good approximation of this shade, and frankly, I think I may like it a tad better.

If I had to wear only one red for the rest of fall and winter, Changing of the Garnet would be it. That should say a lot coming from someone who has tons of reds. I actually prefer to wear this on my hands (instead of toes) because you can see the red shimmer in it. It's a darker garnet red with shimmer. I am complimented on this whenever I wear it. I just love it. Changing of the Garnet is from OPI's 2002 fall/winter European collection.

For the last few years, I've been wearing my nails as natural as possible. Because I tend to let them grow long, I always shyed away from dark colors. This fall, I decided to go short & dark. Changing of the Garnet is now my favorite polish! It's not too flashy & it makes me feel a little like a rock star :o) It compliments african-american skin tones great!!!

Like everyone else has said, this is a pretty deep red loaded with copper shimmer. I like it but really prefer Russian to a Party over this (even though RtaP requires 3 coats for me, while CotG only needs 2). It's different enough from RtaP to own both, though.

This is a beautiful burgundy shade with copper shimmer that really comes out in sunlight. Usual OPI quality. Can't say I'd repurchase, only because OPI has so many other colors in this family.

This is a great deep garnet red polish. It's got that superfine microglitter in it that makes it super sparkly in the sun. It is the exact color of my garnet bracelet, so it looks a little brownish indoors, and really burgandy red in direct sunlight. I great color for Fall.

I LOVELOVELOVE this color! Although, it's pretty dark - I only feel comfortable wearing it around Thanksgiving/Chrismtastime. It's a very sparkly ruby red color - beautiful! And, as always, terrific application, stays on for quite a while w/o chipping, esp if used w/ quality base/top coat.

Its a nice deep shimmery burgundy but I don't see what all the fuss is about. I swapped for this thinking I was missing some important staple in my "vampy collection" but this looks blah against my pale, slightly yellow toned skin. It is pretty enough but Russian to a Party is much nicer on me and easier to find.
