Absolutely stunning! This was the first Shiseido trio I purchased. Smooth, buttery, blendable, pigmented color with decent lasting power. Do not be intimidated by the orange shade-it is all in the application and can be applied sheerer or applied with a damp brush for a more vibrant pop. For reference, I am about NW25ish with light brown/hazelish eyecolor. The orange just pops the golder tones in my eyes. I was actually more afraid of the dark color than the orange lol! The trios come with a generous size mirror, a sponge applicator and a decent for its size eyeshadow brush that will do in a pinch. Retail about $33USD. For a striking combination, pair with NARS Taj Mahal blush which is nearly the same color as the orange in the trio, and a light or nude lip-divine! Highly recommend. Take a trip to your nearest Shiseido counter and have the sales associate show you how to work with it.

The first shade is a charcoal, a browned charcoal that mimics the blackened, burning wood. Perhaps it's the miniscule orange and green shimmers (look close, they're there) that break up the depths, but it has a warmth to it. The middle shade is a burnt orange metallic, an admittedly intimidating color to wear. Finally, the ember turns to ash: a muted dove grey shimmer with a faint lavender undertone. It takes on a fine platinum sheen when it catches the light, with a complex of shimmers golden peach, pink, and hint of green (the more complex the shimmer, the better it refracts light). The texture is superlatively creamy, but so soft the longevity is somewhat lacking, still it sheers out very smoothly without patchiness, and if intensity (or layering shades, as I've done here) is desired, it builds upon itself beautifully. Charcoal + Ember + Ash = Fire... Literally, a smoky eye. It's not easy to wear, though you might get plenty of mileage from the ash and charcoal shades, but if you're like me, and you occasionally appreciate a beauty product for the sheer craftsmanship behind it, this is perhaps the most original, cutting-edge makeup design being produced right now. And it's mainstream.
