I've bought countless bottles of Witch Hazel over the years. Not only as a Face astringent and makeup remover but it also calms down any kind of Skin irritation (Bug Bites, rashes, shaving bumps etc). It is a staple in my bathroom cabinet. I normally buy the el cheapo dollar store ones but I ran out and bought the Dickenson's Pore Perfecting one. I needed a replacement for my MUAC Pre/Post Peel which is essentially witch hazel. I do not find the alcohol in this overdrying. It is Natural grain alcohol rather Isopropyl or Ethanol which can be found in a lot of toners even the very expensive ones (Hello Clinique?).
Acne
Shaving bumps/Irritation
Ingrown Hairs
Incect Bites
Sores, Swelling, Bruising
Sooth and heal diaper rash
Shrinks bags under the eyes
Tightens skin (that is why it is used for hemorrhoids)
Poison Ivy/Oak
Chicken pox blisters
You can also make this smell better by added an essential oil that is good for skin like tea Tree or lavender. I make my own toners and I use this as a base for my homemade concoctions.
I cannot live without this.

I really like the cleansing, healing, and moisturizing properties of witch hazel however the alcohol in this makes my skin very dry and red. Too much for daily use. I've switched to a no-alcohol witch hazel toner (with cucumber).

This is a great everyday toner! I apply it after I wash my face with a cotton pad. It removes any leftover dirt and makeup that your facewash didnt pick up, and overtime noticeably reduces the size of your pores. It is very inexpensive. The only con is that it has a slight smell which you get used to, but thats only beacuse it all-natural witch hazel!

I've been using this since last yr,maybe late Nov. Early Dec. So I guess now I can give a full, good review on this product. I decided to purchase this after reading about it on someone's blog. She was raving about how much she liked it & how cheap it was, also how big the bottle was. I had stop using a toner after a bad experience with the Clinque one...smh. I decided to purchase & do the full 3 step as I use the Clinque mositurizer. And OMG! The toner totally broke my skin out! It left a bruise like on my left forehead,it literally looked like I had been punched,so my doctor referred me to a skin doctor which I've never had to go to before. I had a melen-whatever(mask of pregnancy) no I wasn't pregnant. Plus I read a toner wasn't really needed, but then I read it was as to close pores after cleansing. I got the Olay one,but when I saw this one was also natural I was sold since my skin is senitive. My pores aren't too bad & I guess it does refine them some. I've also been using this on my 14 yr old sons face as he's starting to break out & it helps. But its a good buy.

I love this product, I really began to see the difference with continuous use. I honestly don't think I'll switch to any other toner. Since I've started using it, my acne has minimized greatly. I only get the same ones during that time of the month. I'm motivated to use their oil controlling astringent, and currently I've just bought their gentle cleanser to give it a try c:

Ever so often, I have pangs of guilt about the $ I spend on beauty products. I don't buy a lot of high-end products but it just seems like I buy a LOT of products in general. This stuff is so cheap for such a huge bottle! I like this product so much I'm on my 2nd bottle of it. I usually cleanse my skin thoroughly at night and usually use this only in the morning to just kind of prepare my skin for the daily onslaught of cosmetics. It doesn't burn or sting and it doesn't feel like it's stripping my skin at all but it does feel soft and clean. I was using Neutragena's alcohol free toner but it's kind of pricey for such a small bottle and I feel I get the same (or better) effect with this. I like this because it feels gentle to my skin and at 42, I'm not having to try to control crisco amounts of oil on my face anymore. Glad I took a chance and bought this.

Absolutely fantastic product! I have used Lush's Rosewater, Clinique, Aveda Enbrightenment and Thayer's Rose Petal toners, and have never seen such a dramatic pore-tightening effect as when I tried Dickinson's! I have combination skin that dries out in harsh Canadian winters and gets oiler in our humid summers.
I thought I'd had it with alcohol-based toners after using Clinique's Clarifying Lotion (was super harsh on me!), but even the 14% natural grain alcohol in this toner seemed to help rather than dry out.
PROs:
-Gives my skin a really awesome glow (not shine)
-Tight pores
-Cleansed, soft skin
-Dirt cheap! ($6 at Walmart US)
CONs:
-Like everyone else has said: the smell. Ick.
With most toners, I am always left wondering if they do anything other than remove a little excess make-up after cleansing (like swiping nice-smelling water on my face). Dickinson's has really changed my idea of what a great toner can do for your skin!

This is an absoulutely amazing toner! I was a little hesitant on buying this product because of the alcohol content but I figured because of my oily skin it would be fine and I was right ! it is not over drying at all its inexpensive and very reliable . I had a huge zit on my cheek and I put this stuff on it with a little cotton ball it calmed the redness and the size of it in about two days. The only downer is the smell, I got used to it rather quickely. Buy this product it is awesome

I was so excited when I found this in the store because of all the rave reviews on the Internet and yt and it was a lot cheaper than the $20 acne cleansing kit I use....unfortunately this product broke me out horribly. I tried using it for a month but after 2 weeks of continues break outs and the pimple were getting huge! I stopped usage immediately and my old cleanser cleared everything almost up:)

Honestly, I'm not sold on this product. I bought it because I read many excellent reviews about it, but it doesn't seem to be working for me like it has for others. I have sensitive, oily, acne-prone skin, and because witch hazel is supposed to be a natural oil-free moisturizer, I thought this would help soothe my skin. While it is moisturizing and initially calming, it has caused ugly breakouts on my T-zone and on my cheek bones during the last two weeks that I've been using it.I haven't changed any other aspects of my skin care routine, so this has to be the culprit for the new blemishes. I really want to like this stuff, so I'm hoping that maybe my skin is going through some kind of a purging phase due to the 14% concentration of alcohol in the product and the mere fact that my skin is not used to a toner. I will continue to use it for at least another few weeks, and I will update then. If I am still breaking out, I will probably give this to my mom or one of my sisters and try the Thayers witch hazel toner which contains no alcohol. Aside from the negatives, this product is extremely inexpensive (I paid $4.45 for mine at a local grocery store) and easy to find.

I can't even express enough how much this product has helped! I thought this would be drying to my skin and it is quite the opposite! It balances my skin. I have Eczema and really cannot believe how much this really helps with itchiness. I get eczema around my eyes and it really is quite annoying ( I can no longer wear eye make up). I agree that this stuff doesn't smells like flowers or fruit. It actually smells horrible, however, it does not linger on your skin. I use this in combination with Dickinson's Foaming Facial Cleanser (which I am loving!). I know what Paula Begoun's stance is on Witch Hazel, but it works for me. When you have problematic skin, you gotta go with what works and currently this is it......

I have been using this on and off for a couple of years now, mostly on. I always regret trying something else (usually for no actual reason, either) and go back to this within a couple of days. My skin is sensitive, combination, and mildly acne prone, and this keeps my face looking and feeling it's absolute best. I shower at night and wash my face with Alpha Hydrox in the shower, then follow up with a little of this and moisturize. In the morning I just rinse my face with warm water, and use this toner and then moisturize and that's it. My face is much happier now with this simpler routine (with this toner as the star) than the many, Many other regimens I've tried.

I have used quite a few toners at this point from LUSH, Boots, Avalon, and other brands as well. I was excited to try the Dickinson's line and while I like the 100% natural witch hazel face wash, I am not a fan of this toner.
At first I thought it was working well on my skin, but over time I noticed increased redness, irritation and dryness of my skin. The culprit being the alcohol contained in this product. For those of you who are well informed about toners- you know that alcohol is a no-no for the skin.
The soothing properties of witch hazel are great, but counteracted by the negative ingredients in this product.
I would highly recommend just using pure witch hazel maybe mixed with a little rose water. This product was thrown in the trash for me, not good for your skin overall.

SAVED. This product has saved my skin. My skin is very acne-prone and I went through a phase of constant big and painful breakouts on my cheeks. I use to only breakout on my forehead and chin. My cheeks were spared but without warning I ended up with a completely acne ridden face with no relief in sight. I’m not talking about those stupid little white head reddish bumps - I’m talking about full on angry red ones that don’t come to head for about a week and scar even if you don’t touch them.
It was really out of hand y’know? I wore more and more foundation to cover it and would scrub my face with various cleaners to no avail. A friend of mine who has acne as well told me to invest in a toner. My only experience with toners was short – it was some CVS brand that was a bright blue liquid and it smelled like nail polish remover and made my skin feel so dry and painful.
Hesitant to try a new product I held off thinking my skin was just going through a weird freak out phase. After a few more weeks of breakouts on breakouts I bought myself a bottle. The results took a week to kick in and wow. I cannot imagine what my skin would be like now if I had never invested in this stuff.
With a swipe of the cotton pad, you could clearly see dirt and left over makeup that my cleanser failed to get rid of. This has really made me believe that you CANNOT just rely on a cleanser to remove all your makeup, especially the amount of foundation us acne sufferers put on. I’m not even saying I cake on foundation but I sure as hell don’t just dab once or twice on my face and call it a day with foundation.
It took about a week or two to see the results and it was such a relief. The amount of acne coming up was significantly reduced. I still breakout due to hormonal acne but it is definitely at a manageable level now.
I use this every morning and night! Right after my cleanser and before my moisturizer. You can usually find this on sale for half off often at Walgreens too :> I hoard the bottles and keep them stock piled when they are on sale hahaha :D
I don't even care about the smell since it has done wonders for my skin. Just hold your breath or fan away the smell with one hand, it's not like it lingers like perfume :x

I give this 3 lippies because:
Pros: Oil-free, all natural, big bottle, cheap
Cons: smells horrible :-(
So far, it has not broke me out nor has it made my face more oily during the day (This tends to happen to me when I use toner on my face)...I try not to use the toner everyday. If it gives me good results, I'll gradually work it into my daily rountine, but for now, I'm using this every other day. I will update.
Update: 6/18/12
It still smells horrible, but I've gotten use to it. It works. It keeps my skin clear. I started to realize that it works when I had large pores and when I had some redness on my forehead faded the following day after application. Try it out. Theres new products (face wash and cleanser) at Walgreens. Theres a rebate for it which means you get to try the products for free! Try it out. I'm trying out the new face wash, works good. It leaves my skin smooth and ready for makeup the next day.

Oh my goodness! I have been using this for about 2 years now, and this has never broken me out. It definitely tightens up pores and makes your skin feel really clean. It does have alcohol in it, so if you have dry/sensitive skin it may not work for you, but I have normal skin and use my Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser, then this, and them my moisturizer. As long as you moisturize, this product works wonders! The only thing that's weird about it is the smell. At first I thought I was going to hate the product because of the smell, but I've gotten used to it and I can't say enough about it. It honestly makes my skin flawless. My friends always comment because I hardly ever break out, and this is my secret weapon. It is really inexpensive as well, and you can pick it up right at the drugstore or even your grocery store.
