This mascara is really good. It does not give much volume but I have noticed some lengthening. I love that it does not clump at all and it can really lift and curl lashes without the use of an eyelash curler.
What has to be the most amazing thing about this mascara is the brush. It appears to be sort of big and scary and it resembles the traditional mascara brush of yesteryear. But in fact, its is the most comfortable, soft and gentle mascara brush I have ever came across. It feels good on the eyes and I am sure those who have sensitive eyes would appreciate what this mascara brush offers. It is great to have Va Va Voom lashes but it is equally good to treat sensitive eyes with care and this mascara is indeed a good one in the latter department.
I love big lashes but I cant deny how great this mascara feels and I may just buy it for the days when I need a little TLC for my eyes.

This mascara is kind of in the middle for me; it turned out to be dead average. I got this mascara in a set along with some other Smashbox products, and have been using it for about a month now. It works very similarly to BeneFit's BadGal; if you are familiar with that mascara, then you know the feel. The brush is massive- about 1 1/3 inches long, half an inch wide and super dense. So, if you have short lashes, like me, you may want to be careful when using just so that the mascara won't smear on your eyelids! Because of its size, it holds a ton of product and doesn't get a ton on the lashes, giving them a very natural look. It is a great thing if you love natural lashes, because this mascara achieves it really well! It gave me good length, but not much volume- with my barely-there lashes, it didn't seem to do the trick I had hoped. No clumping at all, though. I do like the formula- very black, creamy, and smooth to put on and comes off really easily at the end of the day. Oh yeah- that kind of contributed to some flaking problems I had experienced with it. It is a high end product, so it is pricey. Overall, I did not love this- I will continue to use it, but I did not find it to be anything special.

I bought the Smashbox try me set and I was super excited to try this product. I'm in love with it. I haven't used a product with this style of brush. I'm definitely in love. I have really sensitive eyes and it doesn't bug them at all. The formula is nice and not too wet. It doesn't clump and doesn't run. I love how it makes my eye lashes look.
I use two coats of it and its not sticky and hard to get the second coat on. It stays all day and night but then is super easy to get off when I get home too.

I don't get the bad reviews. I have sensitive eyes, and have tried alot of mascaras. Not only does this not irritate my eyes, but my lashes look full and amazing. It's a little pricy, but higher end brands are.

Just as everyone else is saying - it's just a regular mascara. I know some drug-store products that are better. As others have said, the pros are that it doesn't clump or flake. It just didn't impress me. After curling my eyelashes and putting this on, it really didn't even look like I had mascara on at all. I gave it to my mother, and she felt the same way about it. I think this is one you'd have to use in combination with another brand/formula.

This product was just ok. To me, it was just like a regular mascara. I have long, but very thin, fine lashes and I'm always looking for a intensely volumizing mascara. Pros: This mascara doesn't clump, or flake at all. It does add volume, but not impressively so. Cons: A bit on the expensive side, doesn't add an impressive amount of volume, I have gotten cheaper brand mascaras that add about the same amount of mascara. Overall, I would not buy this mascara again; rather I will keep looking for one that adds more volume.

Very basic basic mascara.Got as a Xmas gift ,was so exicited to try it .I only had it on at home ,but it smudged and didn't do a thing for my lashes . The boots natural collection mascaras as reviewed on here are much better .And only abouts £2 .Think this smashbox one is about £19 in boots .
A let down !

I received this as a valentines day gift from my BFF who loves it and swears by it. I like it, it gets the job done and doesn't give me raccoon eyes at the end of the day, but it doesn't do anything that my everyday mascara doesn't do. This is a quality product, but for $19.50 I could have bought something I'd use more often. Now I have a full size tube of mascara that I find mediocre but can't stand to waste ;) lol
One thing I seriously dislike is the applicator. It's a bit too big and awkward.

i really like this mascara! it's my favourite that i've ever tried. however, i've only used covergirl, maybeline, rimmel. so not high end brands. the only high end brand i tried is the benefit they're real in the birthday gift from sephora. i absolutely hate that one, but i digress. my lashes are pretty long but they are quite thin and the smashbox mascara really gives them great volume and also adds a bit of length and curl. i don't have any problem with the big brush like other reviewers. i like it a lot and though i kind of want to try the covergirl clump crusher next since it's cheaper, i would repurchase this!

I got this product assuming it was like a lot of other Smashbox products, amazing. Although I think it does give good results, you have to be super careful putting it on. The wand is huge and I feel like the product gets all over my eyelids and lashline, every single time. I have to use a kleenex or remover to get it off, every day. It doesn't offer spectacular length, but the staying power and volume are nice. I just feel that for the price, there are less messy alternatives that are just as good.

This is the most average mascara I have ever tried. It didn't smudge, so that is great, but it didn't hold my curl. It doesn't really volumize or lengthen and strangely it is the first mascara I've used that made my liner look very separated from my lashes (I believe the oversized brush makes it hard to get right into the base of the lashes). Also it made my eyes kind of tingle directly after application. If you are looking for a natural mascara this may be the one for you but this isn't the mascara for people looking for more than that.

Overall, pretty average. Good definition, good colour, keeps curl decently well, okay volume and length. Nothing spectacular to justify the price, which is why I gave it 3 lippies, but a good mascara over. It keeps my lashes soft and fluttery and doesn't smudge after a long day.

This product is so meh. I can build it to look nice but other than that its just so meh and average and theres no reason to buy this product as appose to another. its an averagely good mascara. its not bad dont get me wrong, but dont pay full price for it either. the wand is kinda big and gets in the way.

Pulls curl out, doesn't add volume, nothing to write home about especially for the price. If it hadn't been part of a Sephora mascara gift collection I would return it. Instead, it's going in the garbage.

This is the only mascara I can wear on it's own. Typically I like to layer multiple to attain the acquired look. The formula is amazing, not too wet, not too dry. I never have a problem with it flaking or smudging. I think I'm on my 3rd tube, and for $19, I personally think it is a steal! I'm not exactly sure why this is the cheapest out of the three mascaras Smashbox has to offer, but I'm not complaining! I typically don't like larger brushes but the formula is well worth the little extra work that needs to go into coating my lashes...Love. Love. LOVE!

I got this mascara a couple months ago-was fairly affordable at $22.00. The first time I used it I though it was probably the best mascara I'd ever used! My lashes were long and thick-touching my eyebrows. While I do have naturally long lashes they are very thin and light on the ends, and this mascara made them "pop". However the more I used it the more clumps I saw, and the thinner and dryer my lashes appeared. This is a great product, but be warned that it can be quite inconsistent and drys out easily making it clumpy.

I worked really well on my lashes. I like that the formula wasn't too wet or too dry. If I had the patience to put this on carefully I would get really long and volumized lashes and it holds my curl very well. The price is still pretty expensive for me but considering that this works great for me I think I would probably buy it again if I ran out of mascaras (oddly enough...). Still on the hunt for the greatest mascara for me though!

(I'm writing this based off a sample size) This mascara is pretty good. There was zero clumps and it seemed like a really nice coverage from root to tip, which was a nice change since I usually find myself brushing extra mascara on the tips of my lashes. In terms of "volume", I have used better.. I would recommend this for people wanting maybe a medium amount of volume, instead of a full out false-lash look. Since I have blonde fine lashes, I look for maximum volume - which ends up looking more medium haha! Anyway, the brush seemed excessively large.. I'm not sure if this is some sorta visual trick companies do to make people believe it's going to give you huge lashes? I find huge brushes coat more of my eyelid than my eyelash but this was surprisingly alright. My favourite part is this mascara feels incredibly light, it's not hard or thick feeling so it's great for layering on.

This is very nice mascara. It's really dark and plumps up lashes nicely. I didn't notice any real problems with clumping. I did comb my lashes because I wanted that flirty feathery look. I took off on lippie because I did notice some smudging under my eyes. I believe pictures are very useful when it comes to mascara reviews, so I'll add one very soon.

This product was a let down:( I was so excited to try out this mascara after reading such great reviews but it just didnt work for me. I have longish lashes naturally but they are very fine. This product provided great length but i had many clumpling issues with it and my lashes looked spidery and dry. The worst part was that it would flake and at the end of the day i would find black clumps of mascara in my eye and need to clean my eyes with a cotton bud! I loved the jetblack colour but the brush is a bit too big to get to the corner lashes. This product would more be suited for someone with naturally fuller lashes looking for seperation and length but not really suited for someone looking for volume.
