My review for this item is similar to my review for the Got 2 Be Smooth Operator Mousse.

I have fine curly hair and whenever I use this product, the results are pretty much non existent and then my hair gets frizzy regardless of humidity or activity. It has no hold. I won't buy it again.

Overall, I can't seem to find why I used this product so long.

PROS:
-smells good
-easy to use
-dirt cheap

CONS:
-made my hair crunchy (no matter how much I used)
-didn't help too much with frizz
-didn't really make my hair shiny

This is a great, inexpensive mousse that I used to add definition and hold to my wavy/curly hair. It works in terms of hold and definition, but there are a couple reasons I won't buy again.
1.) After applying it to damp hair and letting it air-dry, my hair would still be left feeling sticky and, by the end of the day, almost slick to the touch.
2.) The smell is chemical and overpowering, and doesn't wear off during the day. I would put it on in the morning and hope the smell would fade eventually, but by the afternoon it was still as smelly as before.
3.) Unless I made a cocktail by adding a leave-in conditioner or jojoba oil to the mousse, my hair would feel dry and somewhat stringy.
Overall, this IS an effective product, but I don't feel like dealing with the aforementioned side effects anymore.

This is apparently great on thick hair, but not so good on my fine, naturally curly hair. I just could not get it to work, and tried every way I knew how.

I absolutely love this mousse. I have medium length, medium thick, wavy hair, which often gets frizzy. This mousse keeps frizz under control and makes my curls defined. A friend commented that my hair looked really nice, not at all frizzy. I guess you have to put the right amount (not too much), some people complained about stickiness.

I cannot believe how much time this "mousse" has saved my styling routine! I have naturally very thick and curly hair. My curls are "S" shaped and very frizzy and unruly. Until this product, I have resorted to blow drying and flat ironing every day for the last 17 years. Now, all I do is hop out of the shower, detangle with argan oil and apply 2 golf-ball sized globs of Captivating Curls mousse. I let it air dry into the most beautiful and frizz-free curls I have ever had. Normally, air-drying is out of the question because my thick hair gets way too fluffy and frizzy...even with gel or other products. The best part is that my hair is still soft (not stiff!) and my curls are uniformly defined. Great stuff, Suave!

I may have found my HG styler. I have naturally thick and curly hair, and my hair loves this stuff! The texture is rather thick for a mousse, which I like a lot. I saw the overwhelming amount of positive reviews and had to try it...now I'm a believer. It did exactly what it claims to do--it left my hair shiny, soft, AND touchable. No crunch! And it's dirt cheap, so why not give it a try? :)

This product is AMAZING.

I have coarse, THICK, wavy/curly (2c) hair. When other people say that they do too, I usually laugh, because my hair is more difficult than probably anyone's that I've ever known. Stylists will always groan at my hair when I go in for a hair appointment ("Oh... your hair is so... thick...).

My battle with my hair has been a life-long war. I've done Japanese straightening multiple times, Brazilian blow-outs, etc. I've chopped my hair off and pulled it back into buns/pony tails. Most recently, I've started getting Deva hair cuts and learned how to scrunch my hair with Deva Arc Angel gel, which I thought was the ish because it defined my waves and de-frizzed them, even though it left them crunchy.

Then I found this mousse, and I was so sure that it wasn't going to work for me because 1) I've had bad experiences with mousse in the past and 2) thought that Suave = cheap = poor quality. However, the first time that I used it I was FLOORED. This stuff blows Deva's Arc Angel and Ouidad's gel out of the water! Both of those left a weird, crispy look to my hair that I always hated, but this mousse provides wonderful definition, moisture (and no frizz), and a gorgeous, natural texture to my hair. I've been stopped on the street and in my office so many times by people who wanted to tell me that they were jealous of my hair, that they thought I looked like a Hawaiian girl out of a brochure, etc. I've never been so complimented on my hair in my life!

Also, I think the smell is very subtle and clean. Last night my boyfriend came up and hugged me from behind, and said that my hair smelled soooo good. I was surprised, since it had been something like 15 hours since I washed and styled it (and there were no other products in it besides this mousse). He also loves this mousse because he can touch my hair and it feels like hair, not like plastic!

This stuff is a godsend, and at roughly $3 a bottle, it's pretty much the perfect hair product. I always make sure I have a stock of at least three bottles in my closet at all times. TRY IT, there's nothing to lose!

If Suave ever discontinues this mousse, I don't even know what I'll do. This is my HG mousse! I used to have very curly hair and then straightened my hair every day for a year. When I tried to go back to curly, I noticed my hair wasn't as curly as before and was very damaged. As I let my hair go back to normal, I discovered this mousse. It really defines my curls and holds them all day, even if I lay down to nap or whatever. Plus it doesn't make them crunchy at all!
I tried the Panteen version of this and it doesn't even compare! Don't waste your money on that and try this one! You can find it at most places for like $3

I'm a girl with fine, wavy, dry hair. Since I've been trying to grow my hair out, I'm trying to stop using heat (straightening!) on it and focus on its natural texture and shape. When I apply this to my hair when it is semi-wet (after towel-drying) and scrunching, it comes out with pretty, enhanced waves! Since I only wash my hair once a week, I keep this in my hair throughout the week. It keeps my hair pretty wavy. If you have anything from wavy to kinky curly hair, I would recommend! Very good :)

I started using this last year and I adore it. I have very thick wavy hair, with corkscrew curls underneath. This gives me a nice amount of hold and spring to my curls, without that crunchy feeling. A little goes a LONG way. One squirt will definitely cover my whole head and I have a lot of hair. If you use too much, it can build up and flake, which you don't want. Only add it when your hair is wet. I was so afraid this would be discontinued last year, that I bought eight cans. I still have a couple left, but when those are gone, I will repurchase.

Mixed feelings about this product. As for price, of course, its wonderful, you can't get any cheaper than less than $3 a pop! As for effectiveness, YES! This mousse works great on my wavy hair, giving me large ringlets and some body. I love how it actually works, unlike a lot of curly hair products. HOWEVER, the reason why I will never use this product again, is because it dries out your hair like CRAZY. I've only used 1 other product that dried out my hair as bad as this one did. When my hair dried, it felt pretty dry, but OK. But the next day, my hair felt like straw.
I couldn't wait to wash it out and condition it. It took about 2 times of using deep conditioner to get my hair back to normal. Another con, is the strong alcohol scent that lingers in your hair, though, I am very sensitive to scents in my hair. In the end, I couldn't see using this regularly, because I would be very afraid of damage. So sadly, only 2 stars.

Sorry to disagree with some of you but I did not find this mousse to be helpful at all. As a very curly girl, I did not find that it held my curls well at all but rather left my hair feeling dry and still had the frizzy curls. I had hoped that it might work, given the low price and how good some other Suave products can be. Just didn't work for my hair.

I found this product thanks to MUA reviews! Like many others, I have tried countless curl styling products only to be disappointed. I should say that I always air-dry my hair when I wear it curly. I have fine wavy hair that turns into a frizzy mess if I don't use a product while damp. I'm glad I read reviews that highlighted the need to put this on the hair while it is still sopping wet. I work a golfball-size amount through my wet hair while still in the shower and then wrap in a towel while I do my makeup. This isn't perfect, as I find that occasionally my hair ends up looking more dry and frizzy than I'd like. I also wonder if using this daily doesn't work as well as using it several times a week. I wavered between a 4 and a 5, but since I haven't found anything else as good as this and the price is so low, I figured it deserves a 5!

LOVE this. I'm on my third can and can't imagine my beauty regime without it! I have naturally curly thick hair and this mousse defines the curls, adds shine, and reduces frizz. The curls last longer through-out the day. The execution of the mousse could be better; the nozzle thing is a tad weird/awkward to use, but it doesn't take away from the over-all quality of the product. Not to mention it is super cheap for what it is! Only about $2-3 for such nice hair! The results are best when used while hair is still damp in the shower. Basically just follow the directions. I scrunch it in then air dry. It is amazing and I've never thought that about any beauty product before!

Update: May 2013, still my HG curl product. I've lost count on how many times I've repurchased this.

As Jenna Marbles says I goo hoarde. I have like 30 bottles of partially used hair products that wind up cluttering my bathroom until they expire. There has only been one product I've ever repurchased before this, Sunsilk Waves of Envy gel cream twist.

I am just finishing up my third can of this. I also went ahead and bought some for all my curly friends and family. This is simply the best curl product on the market. I have 3a curls that sometimes turn to ringlets and sometimes can be coaxed into waves. This gets them into perfect frizz free glossy ringlets. My boyfriend is constantly complimenting my curls after I use this and constantly wanting to touch them (ha, fat chance).

This product needs a lot. I know with mousses that's really scary, like it will make your curls crunchy and dull and gross, but with my mid-back hair I have to use somewhere between a golf ball and tennis ball size. I have underdone this more than overdone it. The first time I used it I was thoroughly underwhelmed because I was being stingy. Don't be stingy.

I've always used expensive stuff, like what my hair stylist uses, and this works way, way, way better. If they ever discontinue this I am probably going to cry.

I've been buying and trying various different mousses for my curls. I hate scrunchy curls which makes the hunt for a good product challenging as many products result in scrunched wet look kind of hair. This is a great mousse. Love the texture of it. It's a bit heavy when applied to the hair but makes the end result worth it. A lot of products claim to define the curls but barely live up to my expectations - well, this one has. I gave the packaging a 3 out of a 5 because the nozzle tends to get stuck sometimes. Other than that it's brilliant.

I really wanted to like this, but I just can't get beyond how thick and sticky it feels when applying it. (Not to mention that the star shaped nozzle made me feel like I was squirting redi-whip into my hand!) For the record, I don't notice any stickiness in my hair, and it leaves hair nice and soft with no 'crunch'. But it also doesn't give quite as much volume as I'd like. I have medium/loose waves and very fine hair, so prefer a product with lighter texture that gives mostly volume with a little bit of definition. I bet this would be a better option if you have naturally thick hair that can stand up to the thick, creamy texture of this mousse.

Ran out & bought this as I am looking for a Deva Curls dupe that doesn't leave my hair hard & crunchy (and is cheaper!)
I have "s-wavy" hair but mainly a lot of frizz
The Suave whipped creme mousse was dreamy to put in, but didn't coax much of a curl out of my hair like the Deva Angel Gel does.
Guess I will keep looking. At least this was cheap!
And I will keep trying!
