I am so disappointed that this fragrance hasn't got better reviews!

I personally think Violet Eyes is a beautiful clean, fresh and sweet floral. The peach is present through out, with warm amber and soft florals. I can only detect a very slight cedar note. I think this is a wonderful perfume from Elizabeth! I certainly think any age could wear this.

I highly recommend anyone to try this who likes clean, sweet & floral fragrances.

For me, Violet Eyes could only be described as an olfactory scribble in one color (but not purple, because purple is too bold). This perfume was simply flat, sweet, floral, and thin, lacking any complexity or interesting characteristics. In fact, it's the first fragrance that has left me feeling "confused" while wearing it because it seems like there should be more to the fragrance, but there just ... isn't.

Distressingly, I went to bed after spraying some on my arm, and during the night, I had to make efforts to distance my arm from my face, as the smell of Violet Eyes made me feel agitated and kind of sick while I was trying to sleep.

I know some people love this fragrance, and I'm glad they get more out of it than I do. Admittedly, the bottle is a lovely color, and the packaging is feminine and pretty, but this fragrance was too lacking in personality for me to enjoy it.

So I am wearing this perfume today, and ohhh boy, I am in heaven...so much so I had to take a break from work and write my thoughts down. So I have ALOT of fragrances ranging from Hermes to Coach to Marc Jacobs. I do NOT ask about the price when i buy fragrances. Call me crazy..lol.
But anyway, I am not good with notes and things of that nature (some notes I can idenify more easily than some). It's easier to tell u what smells good and what doesn't. I'm 28 in case u need to know. This perfume is everything that I love and adore in fragrances. It is clean, fresh, and slightly fruity. Yes, i do agree with the reviewer that thinks this smells a little clean laundry-ish (good thing). It's weird because i see negative reviews on here about it and I'm in disbelief, but as we all know different fragrances works differently on differengt ppl. This works very well on me. I actually smelt this on my mom one day she came in from work and I kept asking her what she was wearing everytime she would pass by me. I could not belive she was wearing one of Elizabeth Taylor's perfume. I HATE white diamonds! What I love with this perfume is that it seems as though u can never overapply. In case u use a heavy hand with this (recommended) no one will be able to tell because it doesn't become overwhelming and it doesn't lose its nice, quiet, shy personality. I love this! Highly recommended by a fragrance snob (I'm impossible to please). Lol.

I've seen SO many rapturous reviews on various websites about this scent and I don't get it, sorry. Gives me a headache! A friend gave me a bottle she'd received as a gift because SHE didn't like it, and because she and I often like different scents she figured I might. That's when I started looking up the reviews because I HATED it. Cloying, cheap-smelling and not at all clean. A shame -- I always like discovering new perfumes.

who isn't intrigued by the mesmerizing Liz Taylor. I was afraid the fragrance might be outdated due to Liz's age in hollywood. It's very nice initially. very sexy, very intoxicating in a wet and wild fluid way. If you like intense, deep, dar secret kind of feeling. This is it. I find this fragrance a bit depressing rather than upbeat sunshine flower kind of fragrance. It has musk , woody undertone. This is an extremely high quality lasting fragrance. However, as the day wears on, I find it to be very incompatible with my natural skin . I got head ache wearing this. Maybe it's good for older people or those with less sensitive olfactory senses. I will not repurchase

Just before christmas I tested this on the back of my hand . Everyone muxt have thought I was crazy because I couldn't quit smelling it ! I got around to buying it 2 weeks ago and have worn it just about every day.

Violet Eyes is similar to Light Blue on its opening . Light crisp and fruity, but I have Light Blue and seldom wear it. Violet Eyes settles down to a devine, soft floral with a hint of fresh citrus. I think it is just perfect for warm weather . The floral notes are flirty and sweet without going overboard . Perfect!

This perfume has longevity that is unreal. I can still smell it 8 hours later. So many fragrances fade into nothing quickly. The price is good too !

I don't think the package is anything special. Too, too much like White Diamonds and that line. However it isretty enough and I love the color.

I'm in love !

Not that great...

See-saws between smelling too sweet and smelling too peppery on my skin.

And the packaging could be better.

It has taken me several months to decide how to review this scent. It is not one of my favorite frags but I enjoy having it in my collection. I also expect, having purchased this in the winter, that I will reach for it more as the weather improves, it seems more of a spring/summer scent.

The most confusing part of this frag is the lasting power, upon my first couple of uses I thought it had horrible staying power. I can't smell it much an hour or two after I put it on. But, I've since realized that this perfume does actually stay all day and has decent silage, it's just one of those scents that blends with my skin so much that I cease to realize it's still there unless I take a piece of clothing off and put it back on or sniff it the next day. So if you like this scent but feels it disappears quickly, rest assured, it does not, you still smell good!

As for the scent itself, I'm bad at describing notes, but it's a light floral with a hint of musk and warmth. I get some cedar and amber, muted by a stronger floral, some rose and jasmine I think, and then maybe a touch of fruit in it as well. Nice and light and unoffensive.

Tried this once and thought that it was a fluke that I really liked it since Liz's others never did it for me. Now, nearly a year later, I saw it in Kohl's and tried the tester. I pick up a lot of cedar in this. I love cedar and have been trying to find an affordable version that I can wear daily since fragrance disappears on me. This is it!

I've been searching for a "signature" daily scent for awhile. A few years ago, my family had a house fire and my extensive fragrance collection went up in smoke with the house. I've been loathe to buy anything else more substantial than a body spray.

Violet Eyes changed that. I'm not a big fan of some of Elizabeth Taylor's other perfumes, most seem grandmotherly and/or overpowering. Violet Eyes is different. It's clean, modern, sexy, charming... All wrapped up in a pretty bottle. This scent is good for day or night, and I'll wear it daily, I love it so.

I sampled this at walmart and I was surprised its light, fruity fresh very nice BUT it kept reminding me of a familiar scent then I remembered its a lot like luscious pink and I already have l.p. So I probly won't buy this but the bottle is pretty and I like the white diamonds bottles they look classy and nice on the dresser so idk maybe if I get it on discount.

Update 3/2012, I bought my mother a gift set of this for the holidays knowing she loved Elizabeth Taylor and has several other ET scents but had never tried this one. Its not the best known of them and yet more and more I think this has the broadest appeal. My mother loves it! Its so soft, never an intrusive scent. Its a no brainer because it will suit any occaision for her. One thing I noticed is I can always tell what room she applied this in. I can see her hours later but this truly lingers in the softest prettiest way. That is saying a lot. Many softer, more powdery scents, which I love, do not stick around. The lasting powder when worn is the same. I find I am always telling my mom she smells great when I see her because as we hug I smell this on her and not one of her other scents which she loves but some were less to my liking. All that said, I love this for myself. I recently got a small vial of violet scented oil and its just not the same. Initially you may find this simple like I find the oil, but have come to see this is much more complex, harder to describe. Even with the age difference, both my mother and I find this lovely and so wearable. Okay here goes my original review, I love this! was told about if by a lovely muaer who knows I have a thing for violet scents. This is very much violet, also very wearable, pretty scent that blends well with sweeter scents too. I have only sampled this but it may be my next scent purchase. The bottle is lovely as well. I find this lasts quite well as it stayed on me all day and is still wafting nicely from my jacket collor.

A very subtle yet sexy fragrance. I love the bottle too! My only critique is the scent doesn't last long. It's a beautiful lush fragrance though.

OK, a few days later and I *really* like this fragrance! Sometimes I catch a whiff of it and think, "wow, something smells really nice" and it's me! hahaha This scent is hot and sexy. I'm going to buy a few more bottles when I go back to walmart.

Smells like D&G Light Blue which is not a good thing. I loved the pretty purple bottle and was looking forward to buying it. I spotted a tester at Target, so I tested it. Boy was I surprised at how awful it smelled. I was expecting a clean floral but got a pungent citrus scrubber. Not for me. I do love White Diamonds though.

I was standing in the deodorant aisle of CVS drug store when I first caught a whiff of this perfume. At first, I thought it might be one of deoderants that had been opened. Around the corner on a shelf sat a tester bottle of Violet Eyes. I spritzed on bit and walked around the store to finish my shopping. By the time I was done, I was hooked on this fragrance. It's clean, it's floral, it's very lighthearted. Reminds me of expensive French perfume from the 50's or 60's. Of ocurse, I had to get a bottle. Now I may go to Macy's to check out the entire line of Violet Eyes. It comes as no suprise to me that this is a wonderful scent. I think, next to White Diamonds, this is Liz's finest. During the day, while working, I occasionally catch a glimpse of this on my skin. The sillage is wonderful, not cloying, not heavy like White Diamonds, but it clings to the skin like a thin veil of scent. I would definitely buy this again. Glad I was astanding where I was standing in that CVS store, or I would have truly bypassed this gem

Mmmmm I love the top notes of this perfume but on the dry down I smell too much lily? It turned funky on me. I dont really like lily perfumes. It does last a long time. and I do like this better than Liz's other perfumes I would use it if someone gave it to me but I wouldnt buy it

Hmm, i'm sort of on the fence whether i like this or not. Florals are not my favorite category and while i don't despise any of them, finding a floral that i actually like is quite difficult. Lot of reviews on this scent are very positive so when i saw this at Walmart for $14, i decided to give it a go. On the first burst, i really don't smell peach but citrus(and there is no citrus fruit listed so go figure). After few minutes i can detect a smell of dark rose(at least i'm assuming that's what it is)and peony. It does smell like these flowers were dipped in sugar because there is sweet sugary undertone thought this scent. This is not green scent by any means. Imagine huge bouquet of roses and peonies, saturating the room with their fragrance, flowers that are cool with drops of water-that's Violet Eyes. Its a unique scent, i don't think i ever smelled anything simular before.
The strange thing is that name is very suitable for this scent-if color violet had a scent, this is what i would imagine it would smell like.
This scent is not really "me" but i think its very well done and smells better than lot of designer fragrances that i sampled in the past. Lasting power is very good-it lasted about 3-4 hours and my skin tends to eat up perfume so this is excellent.
I disagree with the previous reviewer saying that its suitable for high school girl and juvenile. Just the opposite-its a sophisticated floral that its suitable for any age

This is a good one. I bought it within the first week of it coming out on the Elizabeth Arden website to get an unrelated promotion. I thought I might give it as a gift but I was curious and opened it.
I'm not a fan of Miz E.T.'s other perfumes, au conatraire. But I really like this.
It's fresh and the notes blend to create something that's not 'one note' discernable. I had 3 strangers (and a few people I know personally) inquire in a complimentary way as to what I was wearing. That never happens. It mixes well with me.
I haven't gotten around to re-purchasing it. It's almost like now that I've seen it at drugstores lately the novelty has worn off for me.

My husband bought this for me, because he developed a sudden aversion to my favorite scent, Wild Musk. I chose it because of the name, Violet Eyes....not because of Elizabeth Taylor, but because of my kitty-girl, Violet. She has striking eyes as well. I liked the scent of this, and wanted to punish my hubby with the high price point, even though he was able to buy it at Rite Aid for about $24. That is expensive compared to what I would usually pay for a bottle of fragrance, but it ticked me off the way he turned so suddenly against my Wild Musk cologne. He said Wild Musk reminded him of the scent of a fully soaked Depends!! Now, on to the merits of the actual product. I really do like the scent of this....it's not too fruity or florally, which are qualities I don't like in my fragrances. I'm no fragrance expert, but to my nose this smells outdoorsy. I like the bottle as well...purple, and it pleases and sparkles. I would agree with other reviewers that the scent disappears quickly, which is why I knocked off a lipstick. But all in all I love having a fragrance which reminds me of my beloved Violet. And I would repurchase when I run out....but I'll wait for another 40% off sale.
