I curled my hair with this wand for the first time today after being too scared to use it. I usually do absolutely NOTHING to my hair, no products, no anything. My bangs, I just flat iron them off to the side, and that's it. (I did use heat protectant before using this wand, don't worry! :P)
That being said, this curling wand, because it is tapered, was very hard to use. I found myself trying to keep the hair on the wand by angling the wand in all different directions. I also got the 1/2"-1" wand thinking it was going to be the right thickness. This made it harder to wrap my long hair around it as well.
But in the end, I came out with a very nice, soft, bouncy curl for each section. It took me, someone who has basically NEVER done this, ~45 minutes to do. I think that's great!
Heat settings are great, can choose from a few preset temperatures. I used a hot medium, but midway doing my hair I decided to cool it down more to prevent the curls from becoming very very tight. The box also includes a glove which I used for a bit, then decided I didn't need it since it was bothersome. This glove CAN be used for both hands which was very nice.
After I curled my hair, I didn't spray any hairspray or anything, but I made the mistake of using a comb to "separate the curls" for the bottom layer only, after I realized the comb was too fine. Oops! So my hair was a little "frizzier" than I would like it, but my roommate still complimented my hair and my boyfriend thought it looked great as well. Both, though, said I needed practice! Haha! The curls stayed for me all day and I'm getting ready to head to bed and hopefully be amazed in the morning!
Overall a great product, ESPECIALLY for the price! I am glad I got this and I shall keep practicing!

I have owned one for almost two years now. It still works good, but takes longer to heat up. I curl my hair a few times a week. I have long, thick, wavy, heavy Asian hair, and it works well. I think a previous reviewer stated that she didn't like the curls that this wand produces, but it all depends on HOW you curl it. I typically like more sleek, loose waves, so I don't wrap the hair as tightly nor as long. It looks very natural and very pretty! But if you wanted "Taylor Swift-esque" hair, then you need to wrap your hair tightly around the barrel. I particularly like how the barrel tapers at the end of the wand-- it allows the ends of your hair to hang in a way that is natural and soft. Think of it as controlled, non-frizzy beach waves! I've used a friend's expensive barrel that didn't taper, and the ends of my hair were flying every which way! So its safe to say that I prefer this cheapo depo wand. My hair is quite long now though, and I would like to find a bigger wand, but haven't had such luck! Until then, the Pearl will have to do.

Can't even express how much I love this curling wand! Great price, nice design, and gives the most amazing curls.
I love how it can create very different curls/waves based on how much hair you curl at a time, and how long you hold the hair on the wand. For an express, wavy look I split my hair into just 10 sections, and hold each section on the wand for less than 10 seconds. It takes between 5 and 10 minutes even for my thick, long hair. If I want more defined curls I just use smaller sections, and hold the hair on the wand a little longer. The curls hold up great, I just spray with some Elnett, and they're usually even good to go the next day.
I've owned several traditional curling irons before, but I hated the clamp thing that would always leave ugly "clamp marks" on my hair, no matter how I tried to curl it. It also took forever, and never really looked very natural. Would use them maybe twice a year. I got my Pearl Wand two weeks ago, and have already used it loads. I did find it a little difficult the first time I used it, as the hair tended to slide down the barrel towards the more narrow end, leaving me with too little space to wrap all my hair around it since my hair is quite long. However, I soon figured out that the key is to use the glove so that you can wrap the hair tightly around the wand without burning your hand.
The only thing I wish I could change about this is the pouch it came with, it's really not big enough for both the wand and the cord. But that a small issue really, I would definitely buy it again!

Make sure to buy on Amazon; usually cheaper than in-store -- I found this for $15 on Amazon vs $39(!!) at Walgreens.
It's great for either tight curls or wavier curls. The curls last all day, even without hairspray. It takes me about 20 mins to do my shoulder-length hair, and I have thicker straight hair that usually doesn't hold curls. I use it at 375 degrees.
I have admittedly burned my hand a couple of times bc I didn't like using the glove at first. However, I STRONGLY suggest using the glove. You'll get used to wearing it.
If you do burn yourself, remember to ice the burn and apply Vitamin E oil to prevent scarring and keep doing so in the days after (it really works!). Also apply petroleum jelly or Neosporin to protect the skin.

You can have so many different looks w/ this wand. I can get waves or super tight curls. It only took a half an hour for my whole head. Great variety of heat settings and heats up quick. My curls lasted 48 hours, without falling. This curling wand is truly amazing

I have used numerous curling irons in my day. My 3/4 inch from Conair makes it take 2 hours for me to curl my slick straight and long hair. My hair won't hold a curl with anything over an inch. However, this curling wand makes styling a breeze. It takes me 20-30 minutes to curl my entire head (My hair is SUPER thick.) and it lasts all day. I can even wake up the next morning with beautiful beachy waves. Even though it is super cheap, it is super amazing. The glove, however, is NOT fully heat protective. It even says so on the instructions. It is just one layer of cotton. It will only protect you from burns for about 2 seconds. I personally don't use the glove because I find it harder to hold my hair, plus it gets static-y if i use the glove a lot. I burn myself maybe twice every time I curl my hair, but it heals within a day or two, and they're only the size of a water droplet. So it's no big deal. I definitely recommend this wand, you will LOVE it!

Love this wand! i have it in 2 sizes. Honestly it makes curling hair so simple and so fast. I gives a pretty s-curl. I use the smaller wand to achieve tighter my fancy curls and the bigger wand when im going for the beachy waves/larger curl look. Works great on my real hair and my extensions. everyone always assumes i spent so long doing my hair meanwhile with this wand i literally spend 10 minutes 15 max on it. love love love this product.
the only con is that it does not have an auto-shut off feature and i have left it on many times burning my vanity.

People that are giving this product negative reviews, do not know how to use it. This is possibly the best curling iron I've ever used. I can get tight curls or loose waves from this. Its wonderful

This works beautifully. It's much easier to use than a curling iron and it's easier to manipulate the degree of wave or curl you want in your hair. Personally, I love bouncy and defined curls, and that's easily achievable with either size of this wand. My hair is frizzy and uncooperative, so the fact that I can curl my entire head in about 5 minutes is a blessing. It's relatively inexpensive as well. Quite frankly, I think it definitely stood up to the hype.

I would highly recommend the Pearl wand if you're looking to try out a curling wand. It's probably the cheapest out there, but it gives great results. It does feel really cheap and plastick-y, but it performs well, so I won't complain. It's really easy to get the hang of it - much much easier than a traditional clip curling iron. Just watch a few youtube videos, and you'll be ready to go. The only thing is, while it comes with a full heat protective glove, it's really hard to style using the glove. It's messy trying to section hair when you have the glove on, and you can't feel your hair sliding between your fingers. So I don't use the glove, but that means it's super easy to burn myself. I have to really go slow and take my time to ensure that I don't burn myself. I've used the wand 2-3 times so far, and already burned myself once. Not a truly terrible burn, but bad enough that it took 2 weeks to heal. So make sure there's no one around in the bathroom to knock your arm or anything! Overall, the wand itself is great, and I would highly recommend it.
PS: To the girls saying that the glove doesn't protect against heat - what the heck are you doing, grasping the wand and squeezing hard for 30 seconds? There should be no reason to have enough contact with the wand to feel heat through the glove - I would recommend looking up proper technique. You should only have to very gently hold the end of the hair strand in place, not press down on it. Otherwise, the glove just needs to protect you from accidental quick brushes with the wand, which it does adequately.

I honestly never review but this wand is absolutely amazing. I love the look of beachy waves and thats exactly what you get! I normally wouldn't buy drugstore brand hot tools but after reading a few reviews and realizing the price was only $30, I couldn't resist. I have thick hair that is past my shoulders and when I use my wand, it only takes 10 minutes. It's so quick and easy! Love love love! Will repurchase when mine unfortunately gives out!

I have Remington's Pearl blow dryer with diffuser and love it. It is a thing of beauty but this thing is AWFUL. It's useless, it's a waste and did not work on my hair. Perhaps my curls were too much for this wand but it didn't even "bend" the hair and I ended up with a horrible burned hair smell. I played around with the controls - ultra high, high, medium, low and still nothing.
I saw reviews on youtube and here so I bought it Friday night and decided to use it Saturday morning. No matter how I wrapped my hair - I ended up with limp, lifeless pieces of hair. I used thick pieces, I used thin piece of hair and still nothing. Just a lot of limp something (I can't even call them curls or waves) - no definition - no anything.
Sorry girls, the only thing I can say good about this item is that it is not hard to use. This is so bad - I'd give it a zero if I could.
I am headed back to Ulta to return it today and look for something else.

I am in love with this curling iron. My hair is thick, wavy, and nearly impossible to curl, especially with other curling irons. I wasn't sure what to buy when it came to good curling irons, so i did my research on curling wands, and tried this over the Conair You Curl. This gives my hair soft, looser curls, or tight, shiny ringlets, depending on the occasion, and you don't have to slave over a hot curling iron for hours, or have to deal with annoying rollers in your hair. My only complaint is that it's very easy to burn yourself with this (I've burnt my arm pretty badly on it), despite the inclusion of heat protection glove, so be careful. Also, hair does tend to slip down to the end of the barrel, which means tighter curls usually, and I don't have a problem with that, but if you do, it could be a deal breaker. Overall, this is an awesome curling iron, and a great bang for your buck. I've recommended it to my friend as well, and she loved it too and also purchased it after I curled her hair with it. Great, great curling iron

I really wanted to like this new type of curling iron, but it was more of a hassle for me than a treasure. After reading the great reviews on various websites, it seemed like a really great tool to have! Unfortunately, it fell short for me. The curling wand is a simple tapered curling iron without the usual clamp traditional curling irons have. It comes with a heat glove that is supposed to aid in curling hair, which i found was more of a pain to use. It is hard to grab sections of hair and prep them for curling with the glove on and got stuck with my hair while wrapping the ends of my hair around the wand. The wand itself heats up very fast and has a variety of heat settings that I really like, but is too slippery to hold hair in place while you're wrapping the rest of your hair around the wand. For me, hair that was already on the wand kept sliding down, making it hard to continue wrapping hair onto the wand. From this, I got a neck and ear burn trying to get the hair to stay in place while wrapping the rest of my hair around. Burns at around 300-400 degrees are not fun at all. I still had hope for this curler, but after my third burn, I gave up. The curls were quite nice, but I felt that my conventional curling iron gave me better curls. While it did cut the time of curling my hair in half or so, its not worth risking all the hazards I faced. Unfortunately, I'll be returning this product as soon as possible. It was also quite hard to put back in the box because of the way it was assembled. Not quite happy dealing with this thing anymore. Had high hopes but not for me anymore.

I wanted long, loose, waves and NOT something that would make tight ringlet curls, and I got this in the 1.5 version at Target for $30.
There is a bit of a learning curve for this. I found the back of my head the hardest to do as you loose depth perception and everything is backwards when you're looking in the mirror. I didn't use the glove but didn't burn myself either.
Right off the bat, it produced really nice bouncy curls that relaxed into full bodied waves, but then they just kept relaxing. In an hour I had nothing. This was with the heat all the way up to 410, and I held it on the wand for about 8 seconds. Tried it again the next day, and got the same result.
Having no clip is nice as hair can't get caught in it, but I did have a couple strands get caught and pulled out at the base where the wand attaches to the handle.
I do wish it wasn't tapered at the end. It is hard to get your hair distributed evenly down the wand, and I feel like if the curls are slightly different diameters, your hair will not "settle" as well and can look frizzy and big.
In all fairness, I didn't use any hairspray, and I have coarse Asian hair that won't curl - ever - for anything. I'm hoping if I find the right tool I'll find something that will work - probably will try Hot Tools next!
I can see this working very well for some people, however, this just didn't work for me.

I bought this on sale at Ulta. I have never really been a person who curls her hair because the curling iron and me don't really work well together. I decided to buy this to try it and maybe like to curl my hair. I find this tool easy to use and with the included glove is just the best way I have tried to curl my hair. By curly I mean wavy. I like how this makes your look be more like waves and not 1900s curls. I definitely would recommend it because its a good price and it does its job.

Great curling wand! Because I have curly hair, it is very easy to just grab this wand, turn it on(short heat up time) and put a few curls in my hair. I liked that it had different heat settings for me to choose from because my hair often gets mad at me(yes, mad!) and is very stubborn if the temp. gets too high. So, I put it on a lower setting and the curls will keep without hairspray.
