Carmex is such an old school brand but the company keeps creating and launching really interesting products that appeal to the masses. The traditional Carmex lip balm does a great job at moisturizing but has an icky medicine-like smell to it. Fortunately this vanilla click stick combines the moisturizing properties of the original lip balm and adds a new twist to the fragrance. Affordable and great quality.

I really like this stuff. I've been looking for a vanilla lip balm but this is the first one I've found that smells great and actually works. The tube is convenient, and the vanilla really helps mellow out the Carmex scent. This is the first lip balm that actually leaves my lips moisturized even after it wears off, so I'm not stuck in that cycle of constantly reapplying just to maintain results. It is waxy, so if you apply too much it can feel heavy. Overall I'd definitely recommend this. I think I paid $0.99 for it at my local grocery store, however not many places in my area carry the vanilla flavor.

An interesting scent. This is a softer balm, much like Fresh lip treatment. The vanilla scent is nice and I love a portable Carmex to carry with me (instead of my nightstand jar). It still doesn't cover the base scent like the lime version does. I've used Carmex for years and this is the only lifesaver balm for me.

MMMMM. Oh, sorry, you were probably expecting a coherent review. Well, the vanilla part smells like French vanilla ice cream, and covers up the icky camphor/menthol/phenol part a lot, but there's still enough of the medicated ingredients to make it sort of vanilla-minty, which is a beloved flavor combination. Carmex isn't the most moisturizing, and in fact can be a bit itchy and drying if overused, but it does a fine job of keeping my lips numb until they have a chance to heal naturally. The texture is pretty much perfect - smooth enough to sink in, waxy enough to hang around long enough to do some good, and all this for around US$1 @ Walmart. I think I may just use this and the lime flavor for a while.

I really like this click stick! My mom used to have
me use Carmex on cold sores, and I never liked their
products because of their flavor, tingle, and consistency.
I've bought them off and on because they work, but
then I'd always regret my purchase and trash it. THIS,
however, is great! I saw it in CVS a few minutes ago and
walked by indifferently, but the package, advertising (the
girl in the display had such nice lips) and flavor made
me run back and grab it. I just tried it, and I will be buying
it again! It's not as tingly as the other Carmex products, and
the vanilla flavor is there but not overwhelming. At first, you
smell a weaker version of the original Carmex smell as well as vanilla.
Then it goes away in a few minutes. My lips feel GREAT, my nose
is filled with amazing vanilla (and not the trashy kind...a nice, gourmand
kind), and I only paid like $1.62! Great buy! I also liked how beeswax is the first inactive ingredient, not petroleum...no pet. would be better, but having it way down on the list is better than having it as one of the first ingredients. Still, awesome product!
Bet it'll work well under/over lipstick and over lipstains too!

This is my favorite lip balm as of right now. I've been using it since last night and now my lips are really smooth. All the dried part of my lip became residue and i rubbed it all off, so now my lips are PERFECT Carmex usually pretty well anyway, but i like this one, because it doesnt smell like the original carmex, which i dont like. & the cherry one has an over-welming scent to it also, so this is by far the BEST one i've tried. *Havent tried the Strawberry and Lime Twist yet.

I like how this makes my lips really plump and also look healthy, but they don't feel healthy. They look good until you stop using it, then they're a mess ): Daily, with my makeup routine I put a little concealer on my lips since they're naturally very red and I don't like it, and the concealer makes them toned down and a pretty pink, but when you stop using this stuff or don't use it enough my lips look so gross and scaly

This is the first lipbalm I will reach for! I love it. The smell is that original carmex smell but with a little vanilla, and it smells nice. It feels nice on your lips, and you can feel it moisturize. I actually like this better than chapstick.

So glad they made this flavor. It has this slightly minty, vanilla smell and it actually kinda reminds me of suntan lotion. Nothing bad of course cause I would rather smell that than medicine. So aside from that, its kinda thick and balmy which is great because it lasts longer than a thin balm. Also, its been keeping my lips soft, smooth and flake free. I love this so much better than the original which I just cant stand the smell. I think I have found a new obsession.

I don’t know if I got a bad tube, or what, but I don’t even get a ‘hint’ of vanilla from this. All I smell is the traditional medicinal ‘Carmex’ smell, reminding me why I stopped using Carmex so many years ago. I do like the texture of this balm, it’s smooth & goes on easily, it lasts a decent amount of time (2 hours or so), and the click-stick packaging is nice & convenient. But I really don’t have a need for a medicated balm (my lips aren't particularly dry, cracked, chapped, etc; I just like a ‘maintenance’ sort of product to keep my lips in good condition). I could do without the camphor & menthol in this, because I think they do more harm than good, at least for me (it seems counterintuitive, by I find those ingredients irritating and acutally drying). I only wish Carmex would come out with a non-medicated lip balm (even better yet, one that smelled like vanilla!). This just winds up being regular-old Carmex. I know lots of people love Carmex (and I used to be one of them), but it’s just not for me anymore.

This is the only carmex I like! All the others are either too goopy or too stiff feeling. Now I haven't tried the lime yet but if it is anything like this one I will love it too! This has made me a carmex user again after years of not wanting to use it!

I can't believe I haven't already reviewed this! Carmex moisturizes my lips like nothing else I have EVER tried. And the Vanilla is the best of the best. I think it alone could convert droves of people to the brand. It's not too powerful, soft, elegant - very simply, it makes you feel beautiful because it smells so good. I still have 3 left over from when it (and the lime flavor) was released Christmas 2010, but Carmex has recently made these two permanent additions to the Carmex family. I'm hoping they do a seasonal flavor again this Christmas.

Love this stuff! I had always had a love hate relationship with carmex, loved the texture, moisture and tingly feeling I got from it but HATED the taste, it always left a nasty fragrance like taste( like when u spray perfume and accidentally get some in your mouth, lol) and I couldn't stand it, but saw this one, gave it a try and love it! No taste at all and has a subtle yummy vanilla scent to it. A big plus in my book! Yaaaaay!

After hearing about this and the new lime flavor on a blog I was looking forward to trying them. I finally found them last week and have been using them ever since. This has a little thinner texture and glides on the lips a little easier. Love and will continue to rebuy!

Out of all the carmex click sticks this is my favorite. The texture is smoother than than the original carmex click stick. The vanilla scent isn't over powering like cherry or strawberry. I wear a lot of matte lip color and I always have this as a base for an even application. It's cheap and it works.

These are pretty super! I normally like oilier lipbalms and stay away from waxy ones (unless I'm swimming) but I try just about any that are vanilla or coconut.
So, when I was at Walgreens and happened on this (they also have mint, lime, and cherry) at $0.99, I had to put it in my basket. I don't use it that often (not a fan of this texture) but it's much easier to use than the tube Carmex and the vanilla is not obvious but mellows out the classic taste of the regular. It has come in handy with this winter being so cold and has helped heal any chapping pretty quickly.
I would buy again, but I might want to try the lime one next.
