INGREDIENTS

The top notes are French jasmine, black truffle, ylang-ylang, black currant and effervescent citrus. In the floral-spicy heart, dwells the Tom Ford's black orchid, imaginary more than real, and the base combines woodsy notes (patchouli and sandalwood), dark chocolate, incense, amber, vetiver, vanilla and balsam.

I received a sample of this EDP from Sephora. It reminds me of the perfumes which were popular in the 80s - it's loud and in-your-face. I generally love the category of oriental fragrances (the ambers, the oudhs, the spicy, woodsy, leathery and even the floral orientals, even though I'm not a fan of florals per se) but I prefer perfumes which are sophisticated, which draw me in and seduce me, rather than those which clobber me over the head. Black Orchid somehow smells cheap (and yes, I know how expensive it is!).

can't tell if I like it...one thing for sure is that this scent is so strong! 2 sprays and I feel like I drenched myself in this all day. I like the whole "musky/woodsy/sandlewood" scents but I think you have to get used to to this scent because I find it very intense. I would defiantly try this out before buying

Would be okay if scent wont dry down. Musky, woodsy, sexy the first 15 mins. But the dry down? It's like a dirty shirt in the hamper that smells exactly like a men's sweat! yuck

Black Orchid takes some getting used to. I can only wear BO occasionally so it's going to last me for ages. The first week wearing this made me nauseous but then if I only use this like twice a month it's OK.
I can also smell an herbal mint there and musty greens, earthy forrest greens like sitting in the forrest by a stream below the mountains which makes this smell clean.

I don't smell the notes that are supposed to be in this scent. I can't detect any sandalwood, incense, woods and dark chocolate. Black Orchid is the greenest fragrance ever on me. Its so green that I would feel ridiculous if I wore it wearing anything other than green clothing to match. Its not at all what I expected, so possibly I'd have given it a higher rating if I was expecting to smell a herbal fresh catnip mint day fragrance, because that is what Black Orchard smells like to me.
I cannot wear this in the evening, only the day, it just does not work as an evening scent for me. The sillage is short, I have to put my nose close to smell it.
What this reminds me of is Johnsons baby fresh powder, the herbal one with the green lid.
Some reviews said this smells sexy, well I've never heard of herbal or mint to be sexy, I always thought musk was the sexy one but I guess one learns new things every day. I dont want to smell sexy anyway.
Summer this fragrance would bring out the fresh minty pine as been cool and in Winter the warmth of evergreen.
I go with using this lightly as a day fragrance, evening use more but it smells best on me for daytime.
The sweetness is there at the very end, that's when the caramel vanilla shows up which smells pretty awesome.
Update: I've managed to get some incense called Black Magic which I can smell in this fragrance. I can now also detect a small amount of licorice but it seems to bend well and does not over power the overall fragrance.

This scent is not for the faint of heart and certainly not for daytime. On me it smells like I have money but I don't. I can see how some folks would interpret it as masculine and it does has musky elements. I will say this, you won't smell it everywhere.

I would describe this EDP as dark, sweet, sultry, sexy, exotic, and floral with inviting vanilla undertones and spice. The touch of sweetness with the spiciness complements each other in such a lovely way, and the vanilla enhances its sensuality. It's bold, strong, and lasts for such a long time, but there's something delicate about it too. There really isn't a scent quite like it, in my opinion.

AWFUL ! This is the only fragrance I have samples that makes me want to throw it in the trash immediately. So strong and disgusting. Tom Ford's products are ridiculously overpriced anyway. All that advertising hype. I agree with the reviewer who compared this to "The Emperor's New Clothes" Couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

the initial smell is quite nice and spicy. the drydown on the other hand smells exactly like my fathers avon cologne. awful, headache inducing and way to pricey when you can get the same exact (literally) smell for about 20.00.

What a let down. This smells extraordinarily bad on me, like very cheap drugstore cologne. Makes my eyes water. Very disappointed.
