I tested this scent yesterday, and basically, I like the beginning and the drydown, but the middle kind of loses me a bit. I generally like chypres, but white florals don't usually do it for me.

When I first sprayed it on, I smelled mostly jasmine, and a pleasingly "dirty" jasmine at that. But once that faded away, it was nice but just like a nice floral soap to me. I didn't see gardenia mentioned in the notes, but I could've sworn I smelled gardenia. The middle is kind of soapy, which is fine but not exactly thrilling. I like the drydown. It's earthy and packs a whallop of oakmoss, but still with a bit of the soapy floral from the heart.

I got this today on clearance at TS for $10 and they had 4 more. I plan on going back tomorrow because not only is it good on open and drydown but the sillage is AWESOME! The lovely reviewer below me did a great job listing the elements to this lovely frag but its one you really have to experience to appreciate. Not only is the frag lovely but the bottle will look nice on the dresser:) I will rebuy all they have :)

Lovely, beautiful perfume. Gold Leaf is a floral chypre. It's supposed to be one of the original parfum creations by the Thymes Limited from 1982. The 1.5 oz eau de parfum spray is $49 (the bottle is really pretty too that has a gold ribbon bow around the neck). You can find Thymes products online or in various retailers. One of my local garden stores carries this line, along with Crabtree & Evelyn.

Smooth jasmine, fragrant roses, hyacinth and creamy lily of the valley blossom on a background of oak moss and musk to create a tapestry for the senses. This perfume is clean and subtle, and can be worn day or night. The scents lasts most of the day and stays true. My nose also gets a crisp and herbal vibe . It does have a luxurious aroma and I get compliments all the time when wearing this scent, from both men and women.
There is definitely a spicyness to it, but a fresh spicy. The ingredients list cinnamal, rosewood oil, galbanum resin oil, and citron - therefore some spicyness.
I think this is a fabulous winter and early spring fragrance. Very sophisticated. My nose really likes this one.
Apply lightly to oneself because any little bit will last and last.
