My daughter gifted me with this when I wouldn't stop yakking about how much I loved it. It's incredibly unique and beautiful. There is a softness and warmth to this that gets better as the day goes on. I've only smelled it on one other woman and when I got her sillage I was reminded of it's beauty. On a side note: A few days ago I put on some White Musk oil from The Body Shop and afterwards wished I hadn't....so I dabbed a few drops of Reglisse Noire over the oil and I was gobsmacked!!! If this is at all possible it was even better than RG on it's own. I went shopping that day and was complimented so many times on my fragrance that I now will wear this layering always.

I did want to love this, as I love black licorice.... but my first date with the sample ended in awkwardness after a promising start.
The opener is certainly licorice-y and unusual (or, more properly, anise-laden) but unfortunately it dried down on my skin to a strong and obnoxious smell of drugstore men's cologne, and the anise vanished. If only it went on as it began!

This is frigid in a bottle. Stand-offish, rude, as if someone walked by and knocked over your sugared up lemon-aid and it violently landed on your bag of licorice. Such a disappointment. Was hoping to fall hard for this one.

I'm surprised this doesn't rate higher so far. I love it --it's sharp and a little sneezy at first blast, but settles into a softer, powdery, slightly spicy vanilla licorice that lasts for quite awhile, although I spray it more on my clothes than on my skin... It seems to hold onto the sharpness more when it's on my skin. I'm always puzzled when people say "I love this on other people, but it doesn't do well on me" --spray it on your clothes, then! My chemistry often doesn't work right with perfumes, and more often than not this is what I end up doing. Hair works, too. Anyway, I just had to give my two cents, I'm not good w/perfume descriptions, but I really, really like this.

I so wanted to love this - if only for the beautiful bottle and box! My sample is really weak on me, whether I spray, dab or splash. I like the sweetness of the liquorice, and there's a hint of other things - peppery, unpretty things (not in a bad way, to counter the sweetness). It frustrates me. I get little whiffs of it but even nose to wrist it's like I'm sniffing through a flannel scarf.
Nobody else has complained of this, so it may be just me - please give it a try as it could be really lovely. It has triggered a liquorice sample spree, so strong are the cravings now awakened in me!
By the way I must point out that contrary to the previous review's statement, it's not 100% natural. The perfumer made a very conscious decision to highlight natural ingredients but use synthetics to bring out their full flavour and power.

Do you remember the smell of black licorice as a child? You might not have wanted to eat the licorice in your hand, but the smell was a bit captivating and well I have no idea how this perfumer was able to capture the true essense of that smell and bottle it! This is absolutely fabulous. I love the licorice smell, but this perfume is a bit dark, incredibly warm and not for my liking, I love more softer feminine fragrances. This is a gourmand scent, but then again it's not, it's difficult to explain, but it's a sophisticated scent for an adult, especially if you don't want to smell like a piece of candy or a brownie. If you love warm scents, this is a winner and you will not be disappointed. It has patchouli in here somewhere and it's 100% natural, which is wonderful and gives you peace of mind when applying it to your skin. Who needs nasty chemicals. Overall, I highly recommend to women who want a darker perfume with personality. You can purchase a sample at Indiescents, great perfume.
