After working a double header this Saturday night/Sunday morning, I decided to "treat yoself!" with a beauty trip to Ricky's (the NYC equivalent to Sally Beauty) with the intention of tracking down part two of the Aphogee hair treatment (I unknowingly bought only step one a few weeks ago).
As a long time reader/first time reviewer, I should probably add I was never really "obsessed" with beauty products (unlike, say, my roommate, who will gladly devote her salary to Chantecaille everything). However, after a few months of reading MUA reviews, I started the New Year off on a hair-health kick, eliminating heat whenever possible to preserve my (fine, dyed and sometimes highlighted blonde) locks. Because I have a nasty habit of picking my hair, my split ends are a particular problem. For only $2.49, I didn't hesitate to pick up this mask in addition to Aphogee Pt. II (knowing that the mask is a hell of a lot easier to administer than the extended blow dry treatment called for with the two step protein treatment).
I used the mask immediately upon getting home. After leaving it in for 30 min, I let my hair air dry (I sometimes sit in front of a fan and brush it out, alternately changing my part a bit so it dries with relative volume with only a little bit of a wave). At first glance in the mirror, I wasn't particularly impressed, but as I waited for my hair to fully dry, I was ecstatic - though it looked (and felt) well-conditioned and perhaps appeared a bit shinier, THERE WAS SO MUCH MOVEMENT! I stood in my bathroom slightly shaking my head for probably two minutes, in awe that even the smallest tilt produced a wave and a bounce (!) in my formerly static mane.
Because I am going out of the country for six weeks, I am probably not going to invest in the full size bottle. However, I will be packing at least three or four packets of the mask to use while in France. I am hopeful now that I am starting to participate in the MUA community that I can also gather some good recommendations on French beauty products to bring back to the states for friends and, bien sur, moi!

I was at Marshall's and came across this product. I normally don't purchase anything without researching the product but I was desperate (my hair is so dry and feels like a hard rough mat when it's wet and once it's dry it's frizzy and all the broken hair, and there's a lot of those, is all over the place...horrible) and there were only 2 left. Plus the price wasn't bad at all (9.99) so I took the chance the bought the Argan Oil Restorative mask.
I came home, read a ton of positive reviews. I couldn't wait to use it. I followed the directions exactly but decided to leave it on for an hour (I read that some people left it on for a longer amount of time and it worked even better). After the hour went by, I hopped into the shower to rinse it off and could not believe how soft and silky my hair felt. I decided to let my hair air dry just to see how it would look and it dried beautifully. The broken hair that I have stayed in place and there were very few flyaways. My hair actually looked decent (for the first time in a long time)and it was so soft and shiny.
The next morning I decided to style my hair and I can not believe how gorgeous it looks. So shiny and frizz free! I can't remember the last time my hair has looked this good. I dye my hair every 2 weeks because I have premature gray so you can imagine the damage. Just after one use, I can honestly say that you can almost not tell that I have ever had any damage to my hair. I have only used it once but I have a feeling my hair is going to keep getting better and better after every use. I love this stuff so much! Definitely worth the money!
Packaging was in a nice little jar and not in the bottle but it's the same exact product!
UPDATE: It's only been a few days since I used this product but my hair is still silky soft. I have not used it again (because I wanted to see if the softness would last) and wash my hair everyday so I am amazed that this stuff is still working! The real reason I am updating is because I dyed my hair yesterday and I was sure the chemicals would dry my hair again but, believe it or not, my hair is still silky soft! I can't stop touching it! I am hoping the last jar at the store is still there because I WANT it! I'm getting ready to go look for it right now. This stuff is AMAZING!

It's difficult for me to give this product a solid 5 rating because I don't necessarily consider it a holy grail/miracle product. HOWEVER, it does make your hair softer/shiner. The longer you keep it in, the nicer your hair feels. I have oily hair so I only use this product once in a while. It works. I'm just not sure how well it would work on someone with really dry hair.

Unbelievable results at the price point. I have used so many other products and most don't come close to how soft my hair feels after using this. Since my hair is really damaged, that is a HUGE accomplishment for this product! It smells really good, too!

I got the little 3oz size of this to try. I used this after dying my hair with a permanent blonde color, after I shampooed my hair I left this in for about 10 mins and it left my hair feeling very soft and silky afterwords :) I also really like the smell of it too! I will continue to use this after I dye my hair and any other times I feel the need for a hair mask.

Hair: fine, shoulder length, letting blond color grow out to natural hair color of dark blond, hair is flat.
I was on a search for a weekly deep conditioning treatment since my ends are super dry but roots and oily. I discovered this product at sallys and was hesitant to purchase it because it looked very creamy and heavy. I purchased a sample size (4.49) and decided to try it based on all the positive reviews. I tried it this morning in the shower (left on for 5 min). As I was rinsing it out, my hair felt super light but smooth. It rinsed out very easily. My hair was pretty easy to comb through and looked great when it was wet. As I started blow drying (a nasty habit it do every morning) I experienced the WOW factor! I couldn't believe it was MY hair! You could see each individual strand of hair have a glossy, smoooooothness to it. But it was NOT weight down! With my fine hair I thought for sure it would be flat. But my hair looked thick and full! And not greasy! But as the day is going on, my hair is looking super dry at the ends and little wisps of hair are frizzing up. From the roots to mid length still looks great though. I'm going to try it again tomorrow with a different shampoo....maybe that will help. I used it this morning after a clarifying shampoo. I'll update after I've used it
a little more.
UPDATE: I tried this product again this morning with Pureology hydrate shampoo and rinsed it out as soon as i worked it through my hair. The results were better. I used a drop of matrix exquisit oil on my ends before blow drying and my hair looked full, naturally shiny, and smooooth! It looked salon perfect! This could definatly be used as an everyday conditioner, not so much a weekly treatment. But like before as the day went on, a little frizz started happening and my hair felt weird. Like......a feeling I can't explain. Think of an old barbie doll found under your bed. The hair LOOKS good but it has that weird coated feeling. The scent is a little strange too. Like a woodsy cedar box scent. Ill use it when I need to have that "full" thick look for going out.But won't repurchase.

This is a nice, rich mask with an ambery floral scent. I have very dry hair and I like heavy conditioners so this worked well for me. Normally I use it like a daily conditioner and I don't leave it on for the 7 - 10 minutes they recommend on the tube (I leave it on for maybe 2 to 3 minutes). I still get great results. If you're looking for something that will leave your hair feeling smooth and silky, this is it.

Let me start off by saying I wish that I could literally buy this mask for you, come to your house, and see the look on your face after you use it on your hair. I am THAT in love with this. I am a hair product junkie and I'm always looking for something new and awesome, so I hardly buy the same product twice unless I truly love it. That being said, I can actually say this is my HG mask and I will never buy another brand. I am in awe of the results I get. I have actually started using it every other day in place of the conditioner in this line because it makes my hair sooo soft and healthy. I cannot stop touching it. Not to mention, price is awesome, smell is amazing (one of my favorite scents ever), and the packaging is perfect, unlike the hydrating mask. I will repurchase over and over.

This is 'ok'. It smells nice and does make my hair soft, but as others said, it still feels tangly and frizzy. I bought a small sample packet, but for $3!? I'm going to try and return it. (yes.) If it was $1 I'd probably keep it, but this just isn't worth it.
I have to update: After a few days (I don't wash my hair every day) it felt like a RATS NEST. I did return it and got all of my almost-$3-back. I don't know why certain products just like different hair chemistry but this was not it for me.

I am one of those crazy kids who likes to dye hair funny colors, primarily in the pinks/reds family before Rhianna made it cool. :p Anyway my hair has face some major damage Because my hair is black. I bought this as some damage control. (every 8 weeks my hair also goes through a mild relaxer. Damage... damage and more damage *sigh* I really do love you hair trust me)
It certainly has done some good in terms of helping with the early damage. I mean where it was, I think almost anything at that level of hair hurt would've helped. Slowly I nurse it back to some kind of moisture and workable health. After getting it back to a stable condition Now it seems like an ordinary conditioner. Not sure how much more help its giving me NOW but since it stuck out the worst of hair conditions with me I shan't (yes i said it) turn my back on it now.

I keep coming back to this product. It's so thick and rich, really penetrates to soften my hair. I love the tube it comes in, it is so easy to get the product out. Currently, it costs about $10.00 which I find a decent price because it works so well.

I just recently purchased this product after trying other treatments from Joico, Swarzkopf, and many other brands. After color correcting my hair to lighten from black to platinum blonde about 4 times, I have very damaged hair, not to mention the amount I was blow drying and straightening my hair. This is the first time that I can look at my hair (from root to ends) and say it actually looks healthy. I definitely will repurchase this product. I know everyone has different hair types so everyone has a different experience with the product. I would recommend for anyone to at least give this product a chance. its only $10 at Sally's Beauty Supply.

I wanted to love this mask, but I don't. I use it once a week for 30 minutes or more with hopes of repairing all the damage I did Monday - Friday. I really can't tell a difference between this and regular conditioner. My hair feels soft afterwards and smells great, but it leaves a nightmare of tangles. I guess this isn't for my hair type (dry, thick and highlighted). The price is good, the tube lasts a long time - but for me, there are better options out there.

I actually have the hydrating mask which comes in a little tub and it is wonderful. I have very thick, course hair and this seems to be the only thing that makes it silky and soft. This product leaves my hair feeling amazing. I usually follow up with One 'n Only Argan Oil. My hair is moisturized after I dry and flat iron it but it never feels greesy. Overall a great product.

I have been buying this for about 6 months. It works miracles for dry ends. My hair is oily at the roots and dry at the ends. This makes my hair soft all over. I would recommend that once a week (twice if needed) saturating extra virgin olive oil in hair for thirty minutes, then rinsing it out with clarifying shampoo and very warm water in shower (only hot water and soap will get rid of all of the oil) and once your hair is clean put this in damp for 10 mins.
That combination has worked out very nicely for my hair. My hair has never been so soft, shiny and healthy.

Amazing hair mask! My hair was dry brittle breaking...you name it. I even use it on my extensions and it works amazing to bring them back to life. I lather this on, along with Aussie Deep Moist deep conditioner..and let it sit for about 20 min. When I wash it out, I let my hair air dry til about 80% and then blow dry it. (I put in Motion leave in conditioner, and Tresemme heat tamer before I blow dry). Then before I go to bed, I put in the TINIEST bit of one n only argan oil. In the morning I wake up and my hair is soooo amazingly soft. Just bought my 2nd bottle and this will def be a staple in my bathroom. Highly recommend.

Definately will be returning this back to the store ASAP. run when you see this if you dont want to smell like a dead fish.

Wow, I can't believe I had not tried this. I have naturally curly hair. I am 42 so it is thinning and dye it with ion hair dye. I spend a lot of time outside. I don't wash my hair everyday. But still, my hair has been super dry and breaking. I thought I needed protein, so I was using a protein conditioner. One use of this along with the One n only Argan shampoo and it was my youthful hair. I even left it curly with a little Argon oil on the ends. Wowza! I love this stuff.
