This was a free sample in my UD order. I'm glad I did not pay for it.
The one good thing about this shadow is that it isn't a glitter bomb. And I had little fallout. With that being said, it was chalky, applied patchy and was sheer. I used UDPP too, which shows you just how bad this shadow is.
Once I got it to mostly apply, it was a lightish purple. The color is flattering and would be fine for day wear. But I suspect the color is suppose to be much darker than what actually showed on me. I'm also very fair skinned so any darker color shows easily on my lids.
It faded within in three hours. I mean, REALLY faded. As in, was half as "pigmented" as when first applied.
It's a huge fail for Urban Decay. I could not recommend to anyone and would never purchase.

I found the secret to using this eyeshadow! I didn't use a base during my trial run because i was just seeing if i could make it go on my lids darker. So heres what i did:
I wet my e/s brush & ran it over n over across the e/s then applied to my lids. The color is a very sheer wash of lilac during this phase & mostly just glitter. Next, while my lids were still wet i ran my finger over n over across the e/s & then PATTED the dry e/s over my wet lids till i got the desired shade i wanted, which actually wasn't very hard to get. The results are my lids being the SAME color as whats in the pan! Wah-lah, nothing to it :D

I just have a free sample of Retrograde, on one of those little cards, so it's difficult for me to tell much about it. However, based on my sample, Retrograde seems nicer than I would have expected, based on its reviews.
Retrograde is a medium violet packed, and I do mean packed, with very tiny silver "sparkles." Retrograde seems well pigmented, and its color practically makes my green eyes leap across the room. If this were a matte, or possibly even a shimmer, I'd be all over it, but as it is it's so extremely sparkly that I can't really imagine having that much use for it.
I won't be buying a full-size, but if sparkle is your thing, these well-named Stardust shadows are well worth checking out.

The stardust line is very very glittery. Yes these UD shadows are even more glittery than the traditional glitterbombs they have in their regular shadow line! Retrograde is a cool toned true straight up purple color with flecks of silver glitter in it. Honestly, the color in the pan is drop dead killer gorgeous and it makes me happy every time I look at it. However, this has poor pigmentation for such a well known brand! Even with my beloved Lorac e/s primer (which even makes dollar store shadows vibrant and all aweome) couldn't help this poor lil' guy perform. On top of primer, I needed about 3-4 layers of this to actually show up on my skin which is NW30. Once it's on, it looks fab but it's just too much effort to work with plus the fallout is a bi*ch. I don't think I will ever repurchase a stardust e/s again.

Beautiful Purple with silver sparkle. Pretty medium purple color on its own but with a medium it POPS like crazy and is a mildly deeper purple . I am not fair , I am African American , medium brown with yellow undertones and this color is beautiful on me , great color pay off , like most UD shadows
would buy ... this was RIS so it would be my first time buying it but I would .
Added Image above first is without medium , second is with , third is with medium and primer

I love this eye shadow as it's the perfect medium purple with lots of sparkle. It really makes my brown eyes pop. I feel its more pigmented than other similar sparkle e/s on the market. I always feel so pretty when I wear it knowing people see gorgeous sparkle on my eyelids. I wear a primer first and still get a little fall out but not much. I've just been in a sparkle mood lately and Retrograde is what I've been looking for.

Part of the Stardust line. I am glad I got this free from the Sephora VIB grab bag, I would never buy it. The color payoff is laughable; I can use my finger, a brush, an applicator sponge, a Q-tip, it doesn't matter, I can't get decent color from it. It's a strong purple color in the container, it comes off as lilac, if any color actually appears at all. I've tried it with primer, without primer, it just doesn't show up. The glitter is awful. I've tried tapping the brush, applying it wet, again, with primer and without, and I end up getting glitter everywhere. This is my usual gripe with Urban Decay, too much glitter, which is particularly bad for contact lens wearers. I would not buy this product, and if you wear contacts or are older than 12, I don't recommend getting this one for yourself. I do like the magnetic closure, that's a nice touch.
