I believe this product is overpriced and not as easy to find as many other competitors. This also did not outperform similar products that I have tried, I believe you are just paying for the brand. I will not repurchase.

i like this product, does not leave any sticky residue that other heat protectants leave behind sometimes. *IMPORTANT* to note that just because you use this product does not mean your hair is invincible from all damage. I have seriously fried my hair from using excess heat on it even though i thoroughly & generously apply this product every time.

This is amazing. I really do not understand the negative reviews? Then again, I don't straighten my hair, ever. I only use a curling wand for loose curls or waves. This works excellently for me. It makes my waves soft after using the iron and I do believe it is protecting me hair well. It doesn't weigh my waves or curls down, it keeps them staying in place all day long. Hair is NOT crunchy or hard at all !! You do not need to spray a lot... And that's why I gave it 4 stars- it only happened once, but when I sprayed too much (4 sprays) on a certain section of my hair, then one piece came of crunchy looking. Here is the way to prevent that even if you use think you sprayed too much(works for me): you brush through the sections you spray to evenly distribute the product in your hair with a BRUSH. I use a boar bristle brush anytime i use this to distribute it throughout my hair then I use my curling wand :)

I purchased this at Marshalls so I only paid $9.99 for this. I just bought it because I've never tried CHI products.
----------------------------------------
This spray DEFINITELY makes a difference when I'm flat ironing my hair: it helps my hair to straighten easier and STAY straight, it smoothes out my hair, I have noticed a MAJOR decrease in split ends and it smells fantastic!
----------------------------------------
My only complaint would be that if it gets on anything around you--your skin, hot tools, countertops, etc.--it dries sticky and gunky and you wont notice it until later and it's a pain to clean.

I’ve been using this as a heat protectant when I straighten my hair w/ my chi iron for 6 years now. Although I’m not big into straightening my hair nowadays back in the day I would straighten my hair every day and as I kinda grew out of that pin straight look it was a few times a week and now its like twice a month. lol. but every time I straighten I use this and makes it soft, silky, and shiny. I’ve got 3 products by CHI and none of them have let me down and I’ve been using them for years and plan on using them for years to come. Happy hair is healthy hair..ALWAYS must protect ;-)

This is a little better than the Tresemme heat protectant. I was hoping for some shine, bounce, and less stiffness. I'm going to finish the bottle and shop around for a better heat protectant.

Only heat protectant I use! I can only put a few spritz before it made my hair crunchy but I put about 4 squirtz all over. It really works and smells AMAZING!! A teensy bit expensive,

I Super love this product! I use it when I curl my hair with a wand! I have never tried it for flat ironing. But let me just say if you want to curl your hair this is perfect. I take small sections mist it once or twice, then wrap my hair around my curling iron. The curls last all day, they are slightly crunchy, (but not hard or crispy like hairspray). It is a got to have product for me. I have thick long, naturally curly, frizzy hair and this just makes my hair do exactly what I want it to do. I really love it, and I will continue to buy it as long as they make it.

My mom gave me this spray because she doesn't use flat/curling irons.
I don't like it at all. It made my hair very crunchy and dry.

Honestly, I'm actually really disappointed that this did nothing positive to my hair, I only hope the one advantage I got was protection from my straightening iron which I'm not even sure I got while straightening my hair. My hair felt dry, stiff like allot of people have said on here, which I'm not surprised because that was exactly how I was going to describe that it did to my hair before even deciding to write a review on it. I still use it cause there is still so much of it left in the bottle, and I'm using it until I can find better alternative till then my hair still needs protection.

I really loved this stuff. BUT, I know what happened to it. They changed the ingredients. I have an old one from a few years back and purchased a new one. Nothing like the old one. The new one dries your hair out and make's it stiff. CHI go back to the orginal recipe. The new one sucks!!

I heard good things about this product, so I purchased it to try it out. This product is really great for styling your hair with use of flat irons, blow dryers, curling irons, etc... To use, you section your hair and spray over dry hair, then start using your heat styling tool. The scent of the product is pleasant; the texture is lightweight and non-sticky. When used to curl my hair, the product holds the curl very well. When used to straighten my hair, the product leaves me with a sleek, soft, and smooth look. Overall, I would recommend this product and definitely repurchase!

I love CHI. I mean, who doesn't? Their line of hair products are amazing, but EXTREMELY overpriced. Well, at least this one is. Heat protectants are important, yes, but there are so many equally good, cheaper ones out there. The product itself didn't dissapoint, but the idea of shelling out $20 per bottle is just too much for my wallet. Sorry, CHI.

I don't know what to say about this, as I've only tested it - but here are my thoughts. I went out looking for a silicone-free heat protectant [good luck to me since I live in Canada and we have fewer products stocked here] and ended up buying this - to all of you complaining of how expensive it is, it retails at 21 here! :o RIDICULOUS. Way too excited to try it out, I went home and sprayed it on one side of my head [as per the instructions, of course] and not the other, and then took my flat iron to small sections on both. The first thing I noticed is that one swipe in the unpsrayed side did the trick - I went pin-straight, shiny smooth and silky at 370 degrees with my Croc; on the sprayed side, I went straight, smooth and silky .... after several passes through my hair. And there was still some kink left. Wait what? Okay, so test 2: curling with my straightener, on new sections. The no spray side curled as usual .... the spray side frizzed up and stayed the way it was - pretty straight. My hair doesn't feel weighed down though, I LOVE the smell and a little while later, the sprayed side does seem considerably smoother and straighter. I'm still nervous about the chemicals and cones, since I'm trying so hard to stay away, but I'll bite the bullet to avoid heat damage :) Overall, not worth $20 bucks maybe, but I don't have anything else to compare it to and as long as it does the trick without starchy, heavy stickiness, I'm happy :)

I use this spray before using a curling iron. I'm not sure how necessary it is (maybe if you're using a flat iron which gets much hotter, it would be more important) but I haven't damaged my hair from my iron so I take that to mean this spray's working. It's easy to use and doesn't have any weird smell to it or make my hair greasy. It's something good to have.

I really like this product. Although it is expensive I think it really works!!! My hair used to be a mess because i used my flat iron almost every day, and i used the Tresemme thermal protection spray, but after using this I really noticed that it did work, I almost dont get any split end when I use my flat iron. I think that I will buy this again

I will tell you a little secret: I just bought a product called FX Wild Harvest Flat Iron spray that I believe is a dupe for this stuff. Only $7 and smells and works great. I like the smell of the Iron Guard but I never understood why it was so expensive. CHI makes amazing flat irons but I don't really like their haircare products. Like I said try the Wild Harvest stuff before you shell out $15 for this. Or buy the smaller size.

I've heard great things about this heat protectant, so I decided to splurge and buy it. It's expensive, (around $13, I think?) but I got it around $7.
Let me just say, THIS STUFF SMELLS AWESOME! I swear, it smells a little bit like perfume. Seriously. I feel at ease because I used to not use a heat protectant but knew all the damage straightening could do, and now I don't have to worry. I also like the sprayer a lot...nice short, thick sprays. Not the kind of sprayer that is like a Windex bottle that you spray it and it just sprays a stream. This stuff actually sprays.
The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is that I noticed that after I had finished straightening, my hair was a little tangled. But other than that, it's great!
I also think that it made my hair straighter when I straightened it.

So, if you're thinking about trying this product, then I'd say go ahead and splurge. Your hair will thank you :)

Sigh—I've always had such good luck with CHI products, but this stuff just doesn't do it for my hairs. I hate the way it makes my hair feel gross and straw-like (I've tried using different amounts of spray to see if it makes a difference, but alas... no) and it really seems to mess up the clean, straight look after I flat-iron my hair, too. Definitely not repurchasing!
