I'm very acne/clog-prone, somewhat sensitive combo skin. Now its february dead of winter and this cleanser is just too hars/drying for me. I wmight re-visit it again in the summer when I am more oily. If you are oily in the winter this would work for you in my opinion. The texture is great too, foams up into a rich creamy lather and rinses away clean, no residue. For now I am having luck with mario badescu enzyme cleanser in the morning and kate sommervile detox cleanser in the evening along with ddf brightening cleanser a few times a week for my hyperpigmentation and scarring.

I found the LRP Effaclar Foaming Cream to be a bit too drying, but in all other respects it was a great cleanser. There is a mild fragrance that reminded me of a cross betwen a light floral and gummy candies, so I was not in the least bit put off by the fragrance! It was actually very pleasant! LRP Effaclar Foaming Cream was very effective at removing make up that wasn't water proof or long wear, and if used after an oil for a precleanse, was very good at getting any last traces of oil off my face. The packaging is actually very good for a tube - good, heavy, quality plastic that didn't crack, break, leak, or otherwise waste product. Really good for travelling with no worries that your cleanser would burst all over your bag.

My only complaint is that Effalar Foaming Cream is a bit too drying to use on a consistent basis but I would repurchase if I ever needed a serious cleanser and were a bit oilier. For everyday, I find the Effaclar Gel to be gentler and non stripping while being just as effective at cleansing.

this was ok. It leaves a weird feeling on your skin when you wash it off...like it did wash ALL off. I dont like not feeling clean, and this made me feel like it didnt deep clean. I used this for probably 2 weeks, and I got more blackheads and little under the skin whiteheads. I needed something a little more acne fighting. It could be a decent cleanser for those with maybe thicker older skin. But I have delicate thin acne prone skin...it was just too heavy for me. Would not buy agian.

Great stuff, thanks MUA! I was suspicious of the creaminess, scent and squeaky residue feeling at first- all things that usually lead to breakouts. My skin dries out really easily, is combination and acne-prone. I'm in my 30s and am still acne-prone with products! Magically, it wipes all my long-wear makeup away and I have not had a breakout since starting this at all (a few weeks ago). Most impressive! I usually use a stronger cleanser at night and gentle one in the morning so my skin doesn't dry out. I use this twice a day and no irritation or dryness. My skin has improved a lot. I rated the cost low, since such a tiny amount is needed. Highly recommend! Update: A few more weeks and I'm totally sold. Still absolutely no breakouts, which is unusual. Less oiliness, no dryness whatsoever. I've also added Avene Triacneal treatment, which is excellent. My fussy skin is very happy. Love it!

I feel that I deserve a gift for using a cleanser this long... I have been using this cleanser for 2 weeks (before this, I only been able to use one cleanser for more than 5 days without irritation or breaking out - yes, I am that lucky).
It cleanses without drying out my combination/oily skin, didn't leave any film or made me break out and foams a lot! The scent is the only thing that I don't like...

Update 27/08/12: I went back to the cleanser I was using before, because I started to see some small pimples and my pores were more filled with gunk while using this. I still think it is a good and gentle cleanser, but I just need my medical cleanser (with triclosan, piroctone olamine, citric acid and a bunch of other acne-fightening stuff) for my very acne-prone skin.

My dermatologist recommended me this and it works so great for my acne ! A little pricey though ! But I use it every day and it lasts me like more than 6 months so ... ! It has been 2 and a half year that I am using it and I am not disappointed ;)

This gets super high review online, but it is not for me, to be honest! I got terrible break out after using it within a week. At first, I started using it during my final exams week;
because of this stressful period, I thought it was all because of my chemical hormones and all. I kept using and the more I used, the more breakout I had.

This is def a good cleanser only if you skin agrees with it. I'm back to natural side and using Burt's Bee facial cleanser Not like the best thing on Earth but Im trying to stay away from strong synthetic chemical.

This is just a preliminary review. I've only just started using this, but so far:

They really need to do something about the smell. It's awful!! Maybe some type of natural fragrance to be added. A rose scent maybe?
It seems to cleanse well without drying. I was looking for something new; my face seems to be getting a little oilier and my other cleansers weren't helping.
So, I'll update later after I've used it long enough to say yea or nay.
Edit- 11/18/11 - nothing special so far. About the same as my Walmart Equate facial cleansing wash (says comparable to Clearasil on the label)
12/2/11: Nothing special. I'll stick with my Equate cleanser & save $19. The smell of this is terrible and it doesn't do any better than the cheaper Equate foaming wash. I won't repurchase.

dunno why i haven't yet written a review for this one. we (the husband and i) are on the 4th or 5th tube. this cleans the face really well without stripping it of it's natural oils. i also feel like it tightens my pores. a little goes a long way and it lathers wonderfully into a rich foam. one tube lasts us 4-5 months. it could be a bit drying during winter, but i continue to use it with a good moisturizer and it works fine for me (am lazy to look for another cleanser for winter!!). overall...a good no-nonsense cleanser that delivers most of what it promises. can't ask for more!!

The Effaclar Foaming Cream (not Gel) is a great product. Because of it, I have discovered that I have *gasp* dry yet oily skin. I've finally abandoned all oil-free moisturizers and now believe in the magic of OIL.

Anyways, the Effaclar Foaming Cream has stabilized my skin. After washing, my face has a no-slip feeling. I use this along with OCM.

A great cleanser for the summer if you have oily/combination skin. My pores appear smaller and oiliness is controlled throughout the day. After using it in the shower with my clarisonic mia, my pores are automatically unclogged to the surface and I take my cotton pad and toner to wipe it away effortlessly! It does sting my eyes a bit so I am careful while massaging it into my skin, but it is worth it. A little goes a long way and I am looking forward to trying out the rest of the effaclar series.

It lathers into rich dense foam.
I hate the smell.
Love how my skin feels clean and not dry.
I'm not getting any more acne so I am guessing it does a decent job of removing light powder foundation, eye makeup, blushes, and highlighter.

If you're familiar with Leslie Baumann's book _The Skin Type Solution_, this is one of the face washes she recommends for oily skin. Since I also have sensitive skin (my skin type is OPWS), I was worried that it would be too drying for me, but I really do like this! The foaming action is definitely more subtle than other foaming cleansers I've used, but it suds up nicely and has a light, pleasant scent that is non-irritating.

Since it contains salicylic acid, it's designed for oily and acne-prone skin. I don't have acne (just the occasional pimple), but do have that classic oily T-zone, and this seems to help reduce the shine.

What I also like about this is that it is excellent at removing makeup; when I wipe a cotton pad with toner over my face after cleansing with this, no makeup residue is left on the cotton pad.

Since I am worried about this being too drying, especially as winter approaches, I will probably save this for nighttime use since it does an excellent job at removing makeup, and use something a bit gentler in the morning.

I can also see this tube lasting a really long time since you only need a small amount of product to wash your whole face. The price is high, but I will definitely re-purchase it when I run out since it works so well.

I use this twice a day in combination with Effaclar K (day) and a good moisturizer (night).
Its a great deep cleansing foam!
Lathers on really well, and the good part is your face feels just so super clean!
The Effaclar Line is a serious life saver.
One tube lasts about 4-5 month and is around 13 Euro.

My first La Roche Posay product and I'm very pleased. It has a mousse(y) consistency and lathers up beautifully. I use it with my Clarisonic. Smells very nice. Could be a little bit on the drying side. So unless you have oily skin, I wouldn't recommend using it everyday. Other than that, an excellent cleanser. Not cheap though. About $22. Will purchase again.
