Lupercalia 2009: Box of Chocolates (1/10/09-3/13/09)
notes: white chocolate, marshmallow, and coconut
in the vial: Eh, I don't know. There is a seriously soapy, artificial coconut note that juts out like a couple of elbows. I recognize it from other blends, but it's best utilized for its ability to blend well with floral and woody notes; It doesn't work well in a foody blend. There's the tiniest bit of marshmallow sugariness, and it's the exact same note as their other marshmallow/sugar scents. This reminds me of Sugar Skull and el Dia del Reyes, with coconut.
wet on skin: Ya know, I like my coconut to be FOODY. I don't want anything dry or woody, unless it fits the overall feel of the blend. This is supposed to be foody, dammit! The coconut in this scent is hollow and dry, and it reminds me of BPAL Manila. I'm really not getting much white chocolate, and the marshmallow bits fade away after 5 minutes.
dry down: You'd think that this would be super sweet, but after the original burst of spun sugar at the beginning, it's all woody coconut with the tiniest hint of dusty chocolate. I don't want my foody coconut to smell like a sun tan lotion!
verdict: Le sigh. I was hoping that this one would be the ultimate chocolate-foody blend, and though their coconut is alwas a favorite of mine, it's just not working here. The rest, however, is fantastic.
