like this product a lot. cleans my oily skin well without drying it out. estee Lauder oil control gel cleanser is good too but I think this is more gentle on my skin especially for the colder seasons.

I'm not sure what to say about this, I used it for a while and I don't think it did anything but once I came back from holiday (which cleared my skin up nicely) I ran out of Guerlain cleaners (rubbish by the way) I still had some of this and the toner left so I started using it and it cleared up my skin almost COMPLETELY (still had the odd spot during my period) I was so amazed it was the first time in ages I had clear skin. I got a bit ahead of myself afterwards and decided now that I have clear skin i could try cheaper brands so i went for a range by the body shop and it completely messed up my face. I managed to tone it down but my face is still a mess and it's awful, I think I'm just going to have to go back to this because I truly believe this product is AMAZING. It focuses on cleaning the skin rather than overdrying like most products with acne fighting ingredients do. It is quite pricey though (if you buy the cleaner, toner and moisturizer, especially the moisturizer) but when you find a product that works for you this well i guess it's worth it. Also I didn't use this with my clarisonic and I'm not sure if i should, anyone tried it with it?

Cleans away most of my makeup and I adore how foamy it gets! I still use some toner afterwards but this product does a very good job as it is without drying out my skin. It feels very gentle and I have been using it for almost half a year with zero irritation. The only drawback is that it isn't strong enough to clear out clogged pores.

I used this cleanser for 12 years until my face got drier, but will always recommend it b/c it worked so well for me for years.
This was my go-to product (i went back and forth between this and the deep cleansing foam)--- I actually liked the liquid better for many reasons:
- It always stripped away my makeup with one wash
- My skin never felt cleaner after using this- it was sqeaky clean and dint have any harsh AHA/BHA acids in it
- 1 bottle used to last me 4 months b/c it's ultra lathering, you only need a a small pump of product to lather up
I always used the Balancing softener after this (which is not a toner so much as it replenishes moisture into your skin). This was my holy grail cleanser for years- great for oily skin.
I have since switched it up to using the Future Solution Extra Rich Cleansing Foam which is off the charts amazing and moisturizing for those who have dry skin.

Pros:
-Lasts VERY long. I have had this for a few months and I'm still only 1/4 through the bottle.
Cons:
-Leaves a tight feeling after washing.
-Doesn't cleanse very well by itself and strips the skin of oil after washing. (When I use it with my Clarisonic it cleanses much better)
Overall, I would not buy this again because it did not suit me. I think it would suit those with very oily skin more and although its quite pricey initially, I think its worth it (granted you like it) because I see my current bottle lasting me up to another year.

I've used this once in a while, and I've liked it. It was really light feeling, and I liked how it foamed. But once I started using it everyday with my Clarisonic I started getting really itchy and red spots were appearing on my jaw line. I'm not completely sure that this cleanser is guilty but it is already blacklisted in my head. And once I started to stay away from it my jaw line was back to its normal self. This is just my personal experience, but because of that I have moved on to Shiseido's Benefience line, which I think is a more expensive but it hasn't made any negative impact of my skin.

I was very excited when I bought this product and am so sad that it doesnt work for me. It has totally make a mess of my face. I have breakouts everywhere and my skin is oily after a few hours which had not happened to me in a long time. I am so sad specially after spending so much money with the soap and the moisturizer. :(

Like the Pureness Cleansing Foam, this does nothing to treat/prevent acne since it has no acne fighting ingredients. It is a nice gentle cleanser with a pretty scent. A little really goes a long way and the packaging is beautiful. It's a good mattifying cleanser for those with oily skin but please don't buy this if you want your acne to clear up. Also, at $20+ CAD, it's very expensive for a mediocre product. There are much cheaper cleansers out there that essentially fulfill the same task.

This was my, FAVORITE/HG product for several years. I've probably gone through like 5-6 bottles. The reasons why I stopped using it is because my skin is not as troublesome as it used to be and it is pretty expensive (can't remember how much it used to cost, but it is now $21 for a 5 fl oz). I had a major acne problem as a teenager and this was the first product that really started to clear up my skin. I used it religiously every day in the morning and at night. It made my skin feel very soft and was not over-drying. Smells great, gentle, loves it!

I am not in the target audience for this product. I am 54 with rosacea and menopausal skin that has caused me enormous problems in finding a cleanser & moisturizer that doesn't burn me and make me look like a flaming match red-faced person. I have been trying very hard to find something that can work besides Purpose face wash. I was interested in this product because I learned that w/ rosacea one should buy things that say directly "Ph balanced," and this does. Also, I watched and read around Shiseido's website and was impressed with their science and research. Finally, I remembered that when I was younger I had such oily skin that I only used products like this. Ok one more thing, the rosacea docs I read online said don't use anything for anti-aging and such. I had been trying all these moisturizing products and anti-aging things. Well, I am in heaven. I got samples at Sephora. I bought the gentle Shiseido cleansing brush, so gentle it's softer than fingers for washing. I can't use the Clarisonic any more even on delicate brush. Oh it was nice, I foamed up the cleanser with the brush in my hand first then applied it. It was instant relief! I did not get any redness and my face got soo clean. It took off all the makeup and when I set the sample jar down on the written-on sample bag, it even took off the ink. LOL! Now, I always liked that clean feeling from having such oily skin most of my life and it feels great. But I did not get any redness or burning! I have a great sense of relief and lack of pain and burning that I am excited. I love it. I followed it with the balancing softener in Pureness then the moisturizer, and I am in heaven. My face had been burning for the last 24 hours straight and it stopped immediately! Also, before washing, I used the Shiseido eye and lip makeup remover on my eyelids and the constant horrid burning I had for the last 24 hours stopped immediately and has not come back! Wow. Holy cow. What I know is that when I used these oily skin products most of my life, the average person hated them. So when you see people say this stuff is not good, it's probably because they aren't in the type of skin for it. I love that there are no fumes burning my eyes right now. Yes it feels somewhat tight, but I love that feeling. I have a glow on my face that is really nice. I feel like a monkey is off my back. I will be posting follow ups since this was my first try at it. Let's see how it goes. I thought I had to use something for dry skin. This product was formulated without a lot of additives for people who are younger with acne and loss of moisture, even though their skin may be oily. Perfect for me at 54 with rosacea and intolerant skin. If you are like me and had oily skin once upon a time but now are dry from menopause and/or rosacea, worth a try. If you are young and always oily, you may like this. Or, if you can't tolerate all the newer engineered skincare products but want something that doesn't lay on your skin and burn, this could be for you. Tomorrow I am trying the samples of the Shiseido "The Skincare" line, this was Purity. I think the eye makeup remover was from The Skincare line though. Great stuff so far.

As I've run out of my go-to cleanser ( seba med's clearface foaming lotion) and I can't find it anywhere in shops after moving from one town to another, I figured I'd try something new.
What a mistake that was.
Washing with Shiseido's Pureness Foaming Cleansing Fluid feels like your washing your face with a bar of Ivory soap in liquid form! It smells similar too.
The minute the foam ( which you make yourself by adding a bit of water and rubbing your hands together) hits your face you can just feel it tightening and drying out!
I just washed my face with this again about half an hour ago and put on a generous amount of moisturizer right after... but my face still feels tight.
As this product was not exactly cheap, I feel quite ripped off and will definitely not be buying this again.
So in short,
if you want your face to feel tight and dried out... instead of spending 26 euro on a bottle of this, just get a bar of soap and you're good to go.

This cleanser is perfect for oily skin that doesn't want a super stripped feeling after cleansing. It leaves my somewhat acne prone skin very soft and clean plus doesn't clog my pores at all. I use this with Neostrata's Level 2 Toner and I am on my way to flawless skin. This cleanser absolutely is HG status!

i have combo skin type with some pimples/ance only on my nose and some on my forehead, its a good cleanser its not drying or anything, it leaves ur skin with this very soft and refreshed feeling. It lathers really well and a little goes a long way. but i think it a tad bit pricey, i live in australia and i'm only 16 and this cost me $48 AUD, but besides the cost i think i like this, not sure if i'll buy again after i'm done with this one... cos its not one of those must have but it is good, i'll update soon cos i wanna see improvments with my pimples. the whole pureness line range from $40 - $60 in aus, i also bought the "Balancing Softener Alcohol-free" and the "Moisturizing Gel-Cream" i'll reveiw them soon ^_^

I finished my third bottle yesterday. I don't know what I was thinking, repurchasing twice. I have slightly sensitive acne-prone combo skin, and this cleanser is a bit too drying. Also, it does not remove any makeup whatsoever. (I seem to have this problem with all my Shiseido cleansers. I wear non-mineral makeup.) However, it does have a clean, non-irritating fragrance, and leaves no residue behind. It produces a lot of foam, which is bad for my dry skin type. But it would be a good basic cleanser for oily types. (It is actually marketed towards oily skin types. I guess my SA stereotyped me because I'm a teen.)
Just for comparison's sake: This cleanser is more drying than the Shiseido The Skincare Gentle Cleansing Foam, which is slightly more drying than the Shiseido Benefiance Creamy Cleansing Foam.

This a great cleanser when used with the other pureness products. I use this morning and evening every day and it isn't too drying but does the job it's ment to. I double cleanse in the evening to take the days makeup off and it gets rid of everything. I would recommend this product and the pureness line to people with normal to oily skin with MILD ance/pimples. It doesn't really get rid of ance as such but definitely stops it from getting any worse. The bottle lasts ages as you only need 1 pump and it lathers up a lot! Being a male i need something a little stronger as my skin is slightly tougher and i've found this product to do the trick. I woudn't recommend to sensitive skin.
Edit: i will not be buying anything from Sheseido since i found out they test on animals, absolutely disgusting

I began using this over a year ago and I fell in love with it initially because it made my skin feel "squeaky clean". You know the clean feeling you get on your teeth after brushing it with an electric toothbrush? Yea...it reminded me of that.
This product also removed my makeup (excluding the eyes) really well. After using the product, I would go over my face with the Purness Toner and I do not see any residue of makeup on the cotton pad.
I do believe it is a great cleanser over all for normal/dry skin, but I would not go as far to say that it is a great blemish control cleanser. This is strictly for cleansing and not treatment.

I've tried many many many products for my oily, acne prone skin and I must say, this foaming cleanser (in combination with the daily pureness moisturizer and night time gel moisturizer) has done a lot for my skin. At first, I was really skeptical toward the sales associate and paying $22.00 for merely just soap that goes on your face for a minute and going down the drain, but I attribute my skin's smoothness and clarity to this line. Even in this crappy economy where money is tight -- I still managed to bring myself to buy a second bottle of this along with the day and night moisturizers.
I've been using this foam religiously for the past 4 months and it has significantly decreased my nasty pimply break outs.
At 23, I thought my teen acne would never go away but with this cleanser, it's def. helped.
Here is my daily regime
I wash my face twice a day, morning and night with this cleanser.
I follow up with Thayers or Dickenson's pure witch hazel
during the day I use three - four pumps of the day moisturizer (the more moisturizer I use beforehand, the less oily my face gets throughout the day)
then I use Skin Effects Primer
then I use a brush and put on EDM (everyday minerals) light reflections
I follow up with the Shisedo makeup foundation.
One lippie off because of price, but 4 lippies for clearing and smoothing out my skin!

I've used this cleanser for who knows how long! I usually cleanse my face two times a day, once when I wake up and once before I sleep. Sometimes I cleanse in the middle of the day if I've exercised or if it's a hot day. This product works up a great, rich lather with a very small amount (I usually use half of a pump), and it doesn't dry out my skin. I do use a Shiseido moisturizer in addition to this cleanser so my face doesn't dry out. This product even removes my foundation when I use it with a face brush. I will definitely repurchase.

This product really did no good or no harm to my skin. If I had to lean more towards one side it did harm because it did no good. Just used again tonight after digging from back of cabinet. It is very drying and leaves the face a little bit too stripped feeling. As one reviewer said this is a good cleanser for an individual with non problematic skin (which certainly is not me), because it is just that really, just a cleanser and does not help with breakout moments at all. I have the WHOLE Pureness line all the way down to the blotting papers and really looking back I shouldn't have listened to the SA...but as usual I am a product junkie and can be sold into anything. I'm going to finish my bottle, which actually I have used a whole bottle about 2 years ago, but I don't really remember the outcome because I use so much stuff. But currently no AH-HA or WOW factor for me!
