A saleslady suggested this to me as a beginner eyeliner so I decided to try it. It was actually really cheap and I got a new pen from the hidden stock. When I opened it, and tested it, it was so dry! I tried it on my eyelid and it looked like a light grey marker that stained and showed every outline of my skin.
I havent used it since then and the pen is still somewhat moist. Defiantly not buying this again

I've tried a lot of eyeliners in my time and I have to say, for one that only costs $3.59 at my local Shoppers Drug Mart, this is more than worth the price.
I LOVE this eyeliner. The pen dispenser makes it very easy to apply, it stays on all day for me and it's easy to remove with basic makeup remover cloths. Oh yeah, and it's DIRT CHEAP! And it doesn't irritate my eyes like a lot of eyeliners tend to. It doesn't smeer, it doesn't smudge, it goes on nicely over eye shadow and it stays where it's supposed to.
I've tried the "fine" one, the water proof one and the regular one and they all seem to work the same for me.
Why spend way too much money for a well-known name brand eyeliner when you can get the same quality in something much cheaper!?
My only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be much product in the pen dispenser. I find that this eyeliner runs dry rather quickly. You also have to give it a really good shake before using it, otherwise you might mistakenly think that it's empty.

I purchased the essence eyeliner pen extra longlasting (only came in black) at Shoppers Drug Mart yesterday. I bought it because I was crashing at my sister's place, didn't have any makeup with me & it was dirt cheap at $2.99. It seemed to be rich/dark enough when I tested it on the back of my hand. I tried it this morning & it wasn't as black/pigmented as I would have liked (i.e. I had to run over the line a few times & it was still kind of faded/gray). Not to mention it ran out before I could finish my other eye!! Thankfully my sister had the essence liquid eyeliner in black which saved the day. Their liquid eyeliner is much better: rich, black, (doesn't run out after one eye >:-[ ) & easy to apply. But I want my $3 back for their crappy eyeliner pen!!!

I loved the way that the eyeliner applied. Im shocking at applying eyeliner and even I was able to apply this. Very pigmented and has great staying power. Fine tip which meant you could make it as thick or think as you wished. The only problem I had with it was that it irratated my eyes. Within half hour of having it on, my eyes began to sting and water and then had that problem for the whole day. I tried it a few more times because I really wanted to like this, but every time it effected by eyes. Maybe people with less sensative eyes would have more luck with this than me.

It's a good eyeliner. It doesn't dry out, it's really pigmented. It's very hard to remove though and that's a big problem for me. I've tried a few types of eye makeup/makeup removers and no luck getting it completely off. The tip is like a cone shape. Sometimes a little piece of the felt tip hangs off the tip. When I tilt the pen to apply, the cone shape makes it really easy to accidentally touch the thicker part to my eye lid making me mess up very frequently.

I don't like this at all. The pigmentation is weak, it smudges easily, and does not last all day. Within an hour I had smudges all around my eyes (and I have the new "Splashproof" version of this. I can only imagine how awful the original must be). This also dries out very quickly too, which totally counteracts the fact that it's dirt cheap! The only plus to this liner is that the pen style makes it easy to do and get a precise line.
Skip this and get Essence's regular liquid liner (it's waterproof, and not a pen style), which is actually awesome.

I LOVE the essence range and I can't believe that it's not as talked about as other brands! I luuuurrrve this eyeliner! The tip is not too big or too small so you can create a perfect winged look each time. The staying power on this is incredible also (and it's not even waterproof!)
The only downside is that it doesn't last as long as I would like it to (mine lasted about 2-3 weeks before it completely dryed out.) :(
I'm not sure how long other eyeliner pens last or if there is any way to prevent it from drying out. And no, I don't leave the cap off, haha!

I love this product!!! For the price, it's amazing. It goes on smoothly and stays put the whole day, even without primer! In the beginning i had difficulty controlling my hand but once you get the hang of it, it's a great product! Very very black too! Go get it!

So cheap but gives the same result as any drugstore eyeliner. I've tried many but I keep coming back to this one because I dont like to spend a lot on make up. This says its long lasting but I re-apply it 3-4 times throughout the day. It's a good product for the price you pay.

I have this in waterproof as well and LOVE that version! However, the non-waterproof isn't nearly as amazing. The eyeliner fades quickly, it's gone by the 3 hour mark. The packaging gets a 4 from me though, I love the convenience and application of the pen. Wouldn't repurchase, I finished it and bought the WP version instead.

Normally, I wear Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner (Intense Black), which doesn't budge. However, as it's after Christmas, and I'm looking for bargains, I decided to try a couple of Essence products today. Both are FAILURES!
I bought the fine-tipped version of this product, and upon trying it across my hand, watching it bleed everywhere, should have known better than to even bother with the one eye I applied it on. It bled on my lid, the pigment was lacking, and when I tried to remove it with two different types of eye make-up remover, it left a stain across my lash line, as though I'd used permanent, felt-tipped marker. (Ironic, since it was so lacking in pigment!)
You get what you pay for. Both this and the fiber extensions are going back to Shoppers Drug Mart tomorrow. Awful stuff!

It does what it supposed to do. It's affordable, easy to use and convenient for on the go.
It didn't smudge on me, but maybe because I'd always use a primer underneath my eyeliners, regardless if I use eyeshadow or not.
Overall, it's something good to have. :)

Ehhh...for an extra $1, I'd rather spend it on essence gel eyeliner. The eyeliner irritated my lid somewhat, and the black colour faded very quickly. Moreover, it is not long lasting at all and smudges like crazy everywhere! I must also warn people if you rub the non-waterproof version off in the shower, it will sting your eyes so much, so please use a make up remover to remove this! This was a sub-par product from essence, which I am usually a huge fan of.

Very nice for the price. I like this eyeliner. It makes it extremely easy to make a perfect wing! I haven't had any problems with it flaking, it actually lasts a long time on my eyelids when I use a primer. I recommend this eyeliner, it's only $2.99!

Love the pen, the eyeliner went on easy and you could get a really fine tip. And thats where the love ended.
I found the eyeliner had poor staying power and has pretty much gone after a few hours. Also after a few uses, i found this stuff wouldnt come out of the pen point, i had to shake it so that liquid came out. Also this thing dried up on me really quickly. Essence you disspointed me here when i liked your gel eyeliner so much.

It's not that bad.. I bought it and I really liked the fact that it's very easy to use on the eyes..it doesn't smudge or anything ( I do have an oily skin) . It looks like the Kat Von D's eyeliner. The only con that I find .. it's the fact that's very difficult for me to remove it... I use sephora make up remover and it was really difficult for me to take it off.
Overall, I'll buy it again because of the price...

I purchased both the regular version and waterproof version at Shoppers Drug Mart for $3.49 each. After using these eyeliners on and off for a few weeks I ended up tossing them into the trash. First I have to say that I love the ultra fine felt tip as it allows very precise and thin line application along with the rich black pigmentation, but the formula and wear is the down fall. Both formulas flake, smudge, and smear all day long. I have hooded eyes and after a few hours I would end up with liquid liner on my crease, even with the waterproof version. Personally a waste of money for me.

I do not recommend this product to anyone! The tip is very flimsy so it make it really difficult to control. It's also really difficult to remove! I used two eye makeup remover and there is still a little bit left on my eye. Usually when you remove black eyeliner, the colour would be black on the cotton pad. But for this liner, the colour was bluish purple, even though it was black on my eye. I also got a little bit of stain on my finger, and I can't get it off!! I'm definitely going to return this product.

I really want to love this because 1) the easy application means my eyeliner is done in minutes instead of the usual unmentionable amount of time... 2) The pen itself is soo thin, no bulk, which is a big plus for me since I love packing light when I'm out n' about! 3) If it were any cheaper, it'd be free!
Downfall? Instead of a flawless dark, matte black, the formula has a shiny finish to it and tends to fade n' flake. Forget about curling your lashes after it's applied, and it loves to attract fallen eyeshadow shimmers and turn greyish, too. Boo hoo!
It might work for some, but if you like a perfect no fuss no muss matte black liner, try another pen.
