This mascara really helps to give volume to my thin asian lashes. This could clump your lashes if you apply multiple layers at a single time. If you're not going for that, give it some time to dry before applying your next coat. Not much lengthening going on. It lasts all day on me. And indeed, it does live up to being waterproof. But it flakes when I've worn it too long --- probably at about 5 hours or so. But then again, my country isn't exactly makeup friendly. It's pretty much humid all year 'round and I really tend to get myself in situations where I'd sweat a little (ok, maybe more than a little). Sometimes, I'd forget to remove my makeup (which I've worn all day) and sleep with it on a few hours, and it'd still be there. Though, not as strong as it would have been, initially.

If you want to thicken your lashes, this is a good drugstore mascara. If you're into lengthening them like me, go find another one. I can't compare this to other mascaras, 'cause it was the first one I bought (and have worn several times decent enough to make a review). It's a mascara that's newbie and budget friendly. Mine's starting to get a little dryer now, and I've had it for probably a year or so.

This is my HG mascara! I've been using it for the past 4 years and I don't think I will ever stray from it. It holds a great curl all day, does not clump whatsoever and looks absolutely natural if applied correctly. The formula in this product is great. If applied correctly on the tips of your lashes and continue building up, your lashes WILL look like falsies. When I use this mascara, I take about 10 minutes to really get each individual lash and avoid a messy application (this formula goes on pretty wet but when it dries it looks like an extension of your lashes) The price is GREAT for such a wonderful product, I've probably gone through 25 already in the past few years. The most important trick I've learned while applying mascara is starting at the tips (not the roots of your lashes) and just sort of wiggling up until you reach a desired length (trust me, this product can get your lashes to lengths you've never imagined without looking clumpy, and it does not droop throughout the day at all) and then doing a quick coat on the roots for volume.

first of all, i'm a mascara junkie. like...i have tried an embarrassing amount of mascaras. my lashes are one of my best features so i'm forever trying to make them look their best, and this mascara does a great job.

the formula is kind of thick and wet but it doesn't weigh the lashes down. in fact, it holds a curl SO well. can't say the same about the non-waterproof version, but waterproof mascara in general is better at holding a curl. i can wear this all day with no issues of smudging or flaking or anything. and wow the way this adds volume is so lovely. it also puts the lashes into nice sections so it's not all a clumpy mess. one coat is good if you want to look kind of natural but also like you tried, and several coats is great if you want your lashes to really stick out.

when it comes to this vs. all the high end mascaras i have, i still find myself reaching for this each time. it really outdoes the NARS, YSL, Marc Jacobs, Buxom, etc. brands. it's cheaper than them, too, so i'd give this a try before going straight to the pricey stuff just because it's high end.

This mascara really lives up to it's claim.... i have monolids which tends to push my short spare lashes downwards....but i'm so suprised after putting 2 coats of this that it really gives me volume and length noticeably...which also keep curls nicely without making my lashes crunchy. And the more i applied the more intense it gets with very little clumps.....I was so happy thinking that i have found my holy grail!! This is the best mascara i have tried after maybe 10 which are all high-end after my all time favorite has discontinued- anna sui super mascara waterproof. I gotta say this mascara actually makes my lashes look thicker and nicer than the anna sui....

BUT the only problem i have with this which is a big one is that it smudges on me within 2 hours.....i literally has to be ready to wipe my under eye every time i go to the washroom....and it's not small smudges...they are in lines form both on my lid and under my eyes which is very noticeable. What a shame.....I am thinking whether i should buy the clarins clear mascara to put on top to see if it can help with the situation but then which means i need to spend another 30 cdn to make this mascara works......Despite this problem....i highly recommend anyone to give this a try!!

This is the one mascara I keep coming back to, again and again. It makes my lashes super long, and they hold the curl for at least 12 hours! I have sensitive eyes, and this doesn't flake or smudge.

I remember trying this when it first came out and I think either I got a bum tube or they've reformulated. That first tube I bought had an EXTREMELY dry formula and I returned it the next day. Several years have passed and I've been getting the itch to try a new mascara as I perennially seem to do. I was watching a few YouTube reviews and in a Battle of the Drugstore Mascaras video this one was tied with The Rocket as the winner. Since this mascara had the higher ratio of good reviews on MUA I decided that, like I said, I either got a bad tube or the formula was re-vamped and maybe it was time to give it another try.

This new version is definitely a creamier, wetter formula so I had hope that this would work out for me the second time around. However, after giving it a fair go for about 4 days, I can honestly say that this just isn't the mascara for me. First of all, the wand is too wide and I keep getting dabs of mascara either on my contact lens (ouch!) or on my lid (dang it!) So it's very tricky for me to apply this carefully as one or the other always seems to happen. Second, the flexible wand design? Yeah, that just flicks teeny bits of mascara onto my cheek in the process. Also, this flaked on me throughout the day, and a mascara flake in the eye for a contact lens wearer = agony. I bought this in Very Black so it at least wins some points for being true to its color name and I did like that about it. But even with my issues for wand design and flaking set aside, the overall effect after 2-3 coats is still just "Meh" I have long, straight, skinny lashes so I'm always on the hunt for a volumizing mascara that holds a curl. This just really didn't do too much of either. Oh, and when the directions say "Don't let dry between coats,' they MEAN it. If you let it dry between coats, you will get crazy-clumpy lashes!

So for me, this mascara wasn't a winner. Everyone's lashes are different and this might be your HG but if you have lash issues like I do and are a contact lens wearer, you might want to skip this one.

I LOVE THIS. It holds a curl like no tomorrow, lengthens, thickens-- the whole package!! My straight-downward pointing Asian eyelashes are I love!! The only con I can think of is it's really hard to remove.

OMG, this mascara diserves a frickin´ 5. THE mascara for me. I have the shortest of the shortest lashes (really, i mean almoust non, like a fish). This product lenght and volumize lashes like magic, and waterproof means WATERPTOOF,int just won´t move from your lashes, and that´s the only con i could possibly find( which isn´t a problem to me) is that is easier remove cement than the mascara. :P

My lashes - Stick straight, so I always use a lash curler. My eyes water and my lids get oily by the end of the day. My lashes are black, so as long as the mascara comes in black, I'm satisfied.

Waterproof/Oilproof? - Yes, and no raccoon eyes.

Adds volume? - Yes.

Adds length? - Some.

Holds curl? - Yes, very well.

Removal? - Requires WP remover to take off, but it's not overly stubborn. I use Clinique Naturally Gentle Eye Makeup Remover or Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm.

Other comments - Lashes are soft, not brittle or hard. Dries quickly. Formula is smooth, not lumpy. Lashes don't clump unless you let dry between coats. I'll also note that I keep this in my car for days when I forget to put on mascara at home - I don't use it often, it's been in the car for 3+ years, and still applies smoothly and evenly. The brush shape is called a "spoon" which is apt - it's a traditional bristle brush (not silicone or plastic bristles) but wider than it is thick, and from the side it has a crescent shape (more like a spoon than a "c"); it's great for my lashes, as I can get to the base of my lashes with face of the spoon and the longer bristles along the width do a fantastic job of separating my lashes. I suspect the formula is the same across the whole Volum Express line, with the only differences being in the brush head - and this one works great for me.

Overall - This is a staple item: very reliable daily mascara for me. Possibly HG status (among non-tubing varieties) for daily mascara and special events.
