Deci Dela is an unusual fragrance. The opening notes are pretty typical chypre and powdery so if you don't like 'vintage' fragrances, this initial blast may be too strong for you. I'm so-so on loving these kinds of notes so I didn't know what to think. About half an hour later though, the drydown reminds me almost spot on of Gucci Rush. That's a pretty strange combination, but it's really pleasant. The drydown is very strong, lasts a long time and isn't reminiscent of the opening notes at all. Strange, as you seem to have two very different types of fragrances in one, but it makes for a really fun combination. The bottle is really cute but seems to reflect the 'personality' of the drydown, as it suggest youthfullness, fun and whimsy. I paid a lot for a full size bottle, probably too much, as you can find this on a well known auction website for a somewhat decent price, but it's still hard to find. I don't recommend the scented body products though. I wear this when I'm really indecisive on what to wear, as I can enjoy 'serious' top notes for a bit, but ultimately enjoy a light, clean and fresh drydown that lasts for several hours. Very fitting for the brand, super cute, and a must try.

Being surrounded with a waft of Deci Dela transports me to a serene room with high ceilings, french windows, white porcelain collectables and a shabby chic colour palette. It's beautifully whimsical and at the same time pretty elegant. On me, Deci Dela smells less fruity than the notes indicate, with raspberry dominating. This is not a run of the mill raspberry that smells like cough syrup. It is rather sheer and a bit lazy, and the opening of Deci Dela is tremendously retro. On lucky days, I will also smell the nutty phase, and that hazelnut is to die for, but usually I will get a well blended potpourri sitting on a warm base. The drydown Deci makes me think of cute rabbits and kittens, and nice floral soaps in a French armoire. Very long lasting on me - more than 8 hours- with medium sillage. I don't know why I don't reach for it more often but I love it when I do. 3.5

I bought this blind online, going with the fact that I do enjoy most Nina Ricci scents, and that somebody had said it was similar to Yvresse. I do like it, but there is a note in it i find slightly sour/off/chemically which i cant identify, but it mostly disappears on the dry-down which is good! The sparkly apricot note in this is really enjoyable, but overall its a bit average and i used most of it up as a room spray. May as well have saved myself some money and got a can of Glade.

Retro fabulous light floral chypre. Has a very 50s feel to it (not that I was alive back then, but it's the impression I get). Would go very well with a colourful print shirtwaist dress, red beads around the neck, and high-heeled shoes. Is that a kidney bean on top of the bottle?

I bought this unsniffed based on the notes/description:
Melon, raspberry and apricot splash with hazelnut, cedar and oak moss to create a perfume that is vibrant, sensual and contagious.
The opening packs quite a punch with the lovely sensual fruity notes, with hazelnut lingering in the background. They are not sharp fruit notes or sweet and icky, they are rounded and full.
I also recall a young teacher of mine at school who must have worn this, it is a very unique scent. I think it's one of those scents that depending on your chemistry, a different tune will be played out by the notes. Your chemisty might emphasize the nutty, the fruity etc and this will decide how the scent plays out on you and what kind of effect it has - eg sexy, sophisticated etc. PS I don't agree that this could be an 'old lady' scent. I think it's quite vibrant and interesting. Almost any age (except very young) could wear this. UPDATE: 24 hours later this scent is still on me!! Its still a delightful lush velvet apricot with hints of hazelnut. TOP staying power! With oakmoss restrictions around, Im even gladder to have a bottle of this.

I love this! It smells like nothing else I own and as it's not readily available is less likely to be worn by everyone at work! I recently bought the large bottle for £20, good value!

To me, Deci Dela is bordering on being just too sweet....and I like sweet fragrances! I don't find the raspberry note to be tart at all....I don't mind this fragrance but even I find the sweetness a little over the top. Lasting power is nothing sensational either.

I remember just absolutely loving the magazine strip when it came out in the mid-90s. Never did buy a bottle back then though. Could not resist picking up a bottle lately when the opportunity arose. It at first reminds me slightly of Yvresse (without the spice) and then becomes more woody. I like this, it is a fun scent for sure, like others have said. Love the frosted pink and gold bottle, a modern classic of sorts. For me it is anyhow. (I have the purplish-pink one) I don't love wearing this scent as much as I would have back in the day (I would have worn it to death!) but I am still quite fond of it. Even though I have indicated 4 lipsticks, my intended rating is actually 3&1/2. One bottle is enough. EDIT: Deci Dela is a weakling. I like it but on me it definitely lacks power. After a couple of full wears, I have begun to feel that, for me at least, this would best be kept for hot weather, to be worn with much exposed skin, to be smelled emanating directly from it. I think I could love it then. The current conditions are not doing it full justice on me. It is almost invisible on a cooler night, hidden also by clothing.

Funny! The previous reviewer here smells rose?! Of all the things that are in this fragrance, a ROSE? Hmmm, I must be missing something, all I smell is a scent of a very sexy female, some raspberry, oozing sex appeal, a hint of hazelnut ice-cream and something that reminds me of a sultry, dark haired woman with a terrific laugh; yes, she is sexy!

'Deci Dela' is de-lovely. And delightful and delicious. Forgive me if I quote Cole Porter but I think he would have approved. This is unashamedly French and feminine and has the quality you would expect from the house of Nina Ricci. The fruity top notes of apricot, melon and raspberry are smooth, warm and not too sweet, and the addition of hazelnut, together with cedarwood and moss, give it a certain individuality. And there is a hint of sophistication that makes it perfect for just about any occasion.

I love this perfume. When it was first introduced my older sister bought it (1994) and I was always sneaking into her bedroom for a sneaky spray. I recently bought a bottle but had to buy on the internet as I couldn't find it in any department stores.

When you first spray it you are hit with a burst of a colourful fruity flowery scent, after it dries you are left with a lovely lingering subtle fragrance - it is a very happy and cheerful perfume but there is also something very mysterious about it. Suitable for day wear.

Adorable pink bottle design. Gorgeous delicious-sweet-fruity chypre fragrance with a special kick. Simply beautiful. The dry-down is for my nose similar to Calyx by Prescriptives :-). Both scents smell great. "Deci Dela by Nina Ricci for Women.
Year Introduced: 1995.
Scent Type: Floral - Fruity.
Top Notes: Freesia, raspberry, peach, melon, boronia.
Heart Notes: Hazelnut, freesia, May rose.
Base Notes: Cypress, patchouli, myrrh, tonka bean, oakmoss.

"From Nina Ricci, the French firm that brought us L'Air du Temps, comes the fruity floral Deci Delà, a French expression that means "Now here, now there." Frisky fruited notes are reflected in the sherbet colors of the opalescent bottles: raspberry, peach, and cherry. Cypress, patchouli, and myrrh provide a lingering, wooded theme, greened with oakmoss.
Matte gold-colored shoulders and caps complete the playful arrangement. A casual, lighthearted scent for the young and young at heart, Deci Delà is ideal for a sun-kissed holiday on the French Riviera. "©

Deci Dela is a bright and happy fragrance... she is like a little girl running around in pig-tails, happy as can be with an ice-cream cone in one hand and a butterfly net in the other... all smiles, all joy, free and innocent... This is a very 'pretty' yet quite complex and intriguing scent to my nose... I just love it :) Top notes: Peach, Apricot, Raspberry, Boronia Middle notes: Jasmine, Freesia, Hazelnut, Orris Base notes: Patchouli, Vanilla, Sandal, Styrax EDIT: August/06: I still remember the first time I smelled Decil Dela… It was a warm summer evening; a bunch of girls were all heading out to party at a local dance-club that just opened… My best friend’s cousin from Greece was visiting and she came out with us… AND OH MY GOODNESS! SHE SMELLED FANTASTIC!!! Right away I knew I was going to have to have that fragrance… She smelled exotic, mysterious, and somehow fun and very approachable all at the same time. So in no time I got myself my first bottle and then another… Since then I have given Deci Dela as gifts, marked some very special occasions by wearing it, received it as a gift myself form loved ones who knew that it was not the easiest fragrance to locate but still went out of their way for me to find it knowing that if would make me smile…. And really that’s just what it is… Deci Dela really always makes me smile!!!!

This is strange; I made up my mind that I hated this scent. I then received a mini bottle of it, involuntarily, as part of a Nina Ricci purchase on eBay. I tried it on again - and I love it! It's a little too soft though. I used to think it was very chemical-like; now I think it's soft and sweet. It reminds me of Givenchy's L'Interdit, but softer! Go figure.

This scent is a mixture of all that is fun in fragrance! This is a scent for a carefree summer day at a fair or carnival. Deci Dela is not cloyingly sweet or too strong. It could be worn by a child or by an older woman. Does having fun really have an age limit??? I will always chase fire flies at dusk & run through sprinklers! This scent is hard to classify in my opinion. On my skin Deci's hazelnut roasts, the cedarwood is freshly chopped, the apricot has just ripened & the juicy ripe raspberries are about to be savored. This scent makes me think of this poem:WHEN I AM AN OLD WOMAN I SHALL WEAR PURPLE
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

I recieved a free full-size tester of this when I was 18 and felt it too "mature" back then (I was into Coolwater woman and Gap Dream then) so I passed it to my mom and it's become one of her favorite fragrances. I've recently grown out of fresh scents or fruity-florals and am collecting voluptuous floral/spice/vanilla or gourmet scents like Amour de Cacao and Hypnotic Poison, and decided to give deci dela another try.
I find it much more pleasant now than I did back then. I still don't like the heavy sweet fruit-floral topnotes, but once it dries down I DO get a rich, soft, hazelnut sweetness that's very delicious and different from most caramel, vanilla or chocolate base notes around. The woody-spices also tone down the hazelnut and vanilla so it's not cloying at all. I haven't worn it out yet, but my mother has had plenty of compliments from wearing this! It's a very womanly, extremely feminine fragrance.
Only 4 lippies though, because I would prefer a less fruity top note, but if you like sweet fruits, this is perfect!

I have this in minibottle. This is a one of those very few vanilla parfymes that I can stand. Usually I get very annoyed to those very spicy scents. This is sweet but gentle. Not too aggressive. But i still could not use this everyday.
