This is the best product ever! I have always had weak nails but now they are hard, as much as fake nails. It is a strong product though, my nails are to sensitive to use Quimica as a base coat. I prefer to use it as a top coat, the results are fantastic. Plus it dries fast. That's my best "catch" of the year in cosmetics!

I bought this nail hardener on ebay after reading about it here. I was prepared for the pain, and it did not fail to deliver. That was when I first started using it. The key here is to use very thin layers. I applied it very thinly one day, added another thin coat the next day. Well, it really helped my damaged (from gel polish manicures) nails grow. My nails are so long that they look like artificial nails. Another poster said that when she broke a nail, she glued it, and put this over it. At the present time, I have a pinky nail that is broken half way off, and I have repaired it with super glue and this hardener; so far (2 weeks) it is still holding up. I am hoping it will grow out long enough to match my other nails. The pain when it is applied has gone. I cannot emphasize enough, using thin coats in the beginning. Also, I noticed my nails were really sensitive to cold. All that is gone now. My nails have adapted to this stuff. I prefer a lighter polish on my nails, so the manicure routine is 2 light coats of Maybelline Complete Salon Manicure in Shell We Dance, followed by 2 coats (one coat one day, another coat the next) of Quimica. Sometimes, I will add another coat during the week. Has a nice shine too. Will keep a bottle of this around.

This stuff is amazing. I've only been using it for the past two weeks on and off, but my nails already feel stronger. It dries to a shiny, clear, natural look that lasts and sticks to the nail until you remove it. There's only thing that I'm not sure if it is good or bad, but it seemed to dry the tips of a few of my nails (only the tips) and little flakes of nail peeled off, however what remained is very hard and tough, not weak or breakable at all.

I admit I was a little scared about feeling pain when applying this, but all I felt was a slight cool sensation on a few of my fingernails. My nails are reasonably healthy so that could be why I didn't have any issues with pain, though I would like to pint out that I have always been extremely careful not to let the product touch my cuticle/skin at all. I did notice that on one of my nails I somehow overapplied managing to touch a tiny area of skin, and that finger was sore for hours. Definitely use with caution.

I bought this product based on MakeupAlley reviews. I have always had very weak nails just like my mother and sister and mine were by far the worst. Over the years I've tried all kind of products that claim to strengthen nails without any results. Quimica Alemana nail hardener really worked and now I have the kind of nails I've always wanted. It does sting a bit at first (especially if you use a thick layer) but it goes away after awhile and then its fine.

I love this nail hardener so much, it works great for me! Never had really long nails before I used this. No "burning/hurting" at all. Sometimes I apply once a week, and sometimes twice a week. Depends on how bored I get with the color I`m wearing. It makes my nail polish stay with absolutely no chipping until I remove it, no matter what brand I use. I try to use a very thin coat, but have no problems if a little too much goes on the nail. But the bottle will last a long time, as the formula make it easy to control the amount applied if you take care and pay attention to the application.

So I bought this product a few months ago and really wanted to use it before I reviewed how it really works.

First off the price is pretty good...like 8 bucks with free shipping...bought it on amazon.com and got the product pretty fast. When I got the bottle I couldn't read the directions on the bottle itself but it came with a sheet in english explaining how to use it. One thin line in middle of the nail and then put a THIN coat of the product all of the nail.

A THIN COAT IS KEY!!!!!!!!!!!! I made the mistake by putting a normal amount of polish as if I were painting my nails. It did make my nails hurt a lot...but I did some research and tried to put the very thin coat over my nails and only reapply after a week..and usually I remove the old coat before I do that.

After I learned this, I saw a great improvement in my nails. I had to wait a little bit to let my badly bitten nails grow a bit before I started using this product, only like a week I had to wait. Once I started using this product I applied and let it work its magic.
My nails grew quite fast within in a two week period and they are strong . I have the worst, thinnest nails known to man but this product really makes them strong!!!!! Yes there is formaldehyde in it..but I don't think its a enough to cause real concern. If you use this product correctly...don't apply daily and be patient.
It makes a pretty good base coat as well when its worn underneath my polish..I tried to put it on top of the color but it doesn't really work out for me...it causes bubbles.
Overall I'll be purchasing this product again and again because nothing else has worked for me like this! It truly does work and is worth the money. But just really watch how you apply it and it won't hurt.

Got really worried after having this on for 10 minutes! It felt like my fingers had gotten squeezed in a door, throbbing with pain. I thought I had gone crazy but then I read the reviews here and realized I'm not the only one who felt it. Quite strong stuff! And if you look at the ingredients, it's not the healthiest product out there.


I can't give it more than one star since not only can I not use the product, it hurts. I had it on for one hour but the pain never subsided.

Holy ouch! Good grief this stuff is really hurting me as I write this. This is my third time using it and every time I apply it, it makes the ends of my fingers throb with pain. Yes, it does make my nails stronger and I do like that but I don't think I can use it anymore after this. I was desperate because I've tried every nail strengthener and none of them have helped my superthin, weak, bendy, constantly-peeling and breaking nails. (I think this is related to my hypothyroidism.) Maybe this stuff is the reason I've had an awful headache for the past two days as well?

After reading rave reviews I'm really sad to say this nail hardener doesn't agree with me. The packaging is great, the price is reasonable, it dries fast and to a nice clean shiny finish but it hurts! After using it my fingernails feel like someone's pinching them! The more coats I apply the more it hurts. The only way to get rid of that feeling is to remove the polish. I'm in Australia and if anyone from Oz would like this free of charge I'll pop it in the post to an Australian address.
It's still 95% full.
Back to the drawing board for a good nail hardener :(

I have been using this product since February of 2012. It's now mid-July, and I am on my second bottle. AMAZING stuff! I use 2 coats as a base, or most times just wear it alone. I find 2 coats give my nails a smooth glassy finish which I love. My nails have been pretty good most of my life, but as I get older, I have noticed they are not what they used to be, and were starting to peel and chip more than they used to. (I glue the peels together with nail glue). I am careful to keep it off my skin, as when it does touch the skin, it is quite painful for several hours. Only when it touches the skin though, no pain when I paint it on the nail plate as some have had happen. I have never seen this in any stores in my area (Pacific Northwest), so I buy it on Ebay. I have had no adverse reactions (other than the above mentioned), so I intend to keep on using it. I put it on about once a week or so.

Ok, so I am one of those people who love to read all the reviewed here but I had never, and I mean ever written one...With that being said, I had to write a review on this product because I can not live w/o it!!!!!!!! IT WORKS! Simple...It is the only nail hardener-grower-making your nails looking perfect product that I ever came across! I LOVE IT! As one reviewer said here, I also do buy this stuff in bulk. BUY IT! Your nails will thank you :)

This product has 100% feedback so far Every time I stop using it, my nails remind me of what they used to look like. I buy this stuff in bulk. It will look and feel like any other nail polish, but if you give it two weeks, it will change your nails. I don't keep my nails super long, but I like some nicely shaped nails to feel feminine. This product is the best kept secret!

I bought my quimica alemana online from justbeautysupplies. My nails were weak and my friend recommended me to try out Quimica Alemana nail hardener. She told me it is very popular in the nail salons. The only warning she gave me that it was very strong and you should only apply a light coating or your nails will be in pain. I was glad to follow her recommendations. After a few applications, my nails definitely look better and feel stronger. I will buy it again. Anyone who has weak and brittle nails, need to use this product.

My aunt introduced me to this product. She gave me the bottle she bought while she was in Colombia and I have never looked back! I LOVE this stuff! I used to bite my nails when I was younger and my nails and nailbeds have been recovering ever since.

Before I used this stuff, my nails used to chip ALL the time and would barely grow. My nails are now super strong and actually grew long and I cannot believe it!

I have finally found my go-to product. I purchased mine via amazon. Bought two of them for $!6....gave my sister one for Christmas, she also can't believe it.

Buy this...now!

This is an amazing nail strengthener! My fingernails tend to peel (annoying!) so there is little chance of getting them to stay long...for very long. But this stuff really changed that for me, and while I can't say my nails are rock hard or anything, they don't peel anymore (thank God).

And for those of you who don't necessarily need a hardener, this is one of thee BEST BASECOATS I have ever come across. It makes your nail smooth and helps the polish stick around longer.

It is the only polish related item that I've gone through a whole bottle of. I think that says a lot!

i apply as a top and base coat and my nails dont bed or nothing! i just got my tips taken of about a month and a half ago and my nails are always so brittle. i will never get tips again and my nails are the longest they have ever been!

I have horrible nails. They're thin and brittle, which causes them to chip, peels, break, bend...basically you name it, my nails do it.

I moved a year ago and had to find a new place to get manicure and pedicures. After a ton of research I walked into what was considered the best salon in the area and while they were filing my nails I noticed a sign that said $1 extra nail hardner so I asked if I could have some. My nails we rock hard for the week. After a week of my nails taking their usual abuse (kept them under running water while washing dishes, I bump my fingers into things all the time which causes my nails to bend all the way back, etc) my manicure was still fully entact-no chips-my nails hadn't peeled or broken. I went online and immediately purchased a bottle from amazon for in between visits to the nail salon.

The first time I put this on it definitely hurt-felt like horrible pressure under my nail, but I learned that it's because I used too much. One thin coat does the trick perfectly.

I will never not have this on my nails. After 27 years my nails are finally long, strong and feminine!

I found this at Ricky's NYC but didn't buy it because of the price ($15), & instead I got it online at 1/2 price from eBay ($7) - great deal! I read reviews about this product on Amazon since there were no reviews here.


Be aware that this is a formaldehyde-based nail strengthener which comes from Colombia - it's quite strong. As others have mentioned, it can hurt to apply this (IME burning, throbbing or tightening sensation for about 1-2 hrs). It makes my natural nails rock hard - really, ROCK hard. They don't bend, allowing them to remain strong & not break or peel.


I really like this product but absolutely don't plan to use it constantly. Once a week at the most, & only when I want to grow my nails long (usually I wear them short so I can type comfortably). It's smart to follow the instructions in the enclosed pamphlet. Products like this are useful & beneficial in small doses. I understand formaldehyde isn't a healthy ingredient to use.


Without this product my nails are soft & bend (even though I take biotin, silica & vitamins regularly for 3 months now). Those supplements are great but I enjoy the extra *oomph* this product gives. It makes all the difference.


As long as things go well & there are no adverse reactions, I would continue to buy this product when I run out.
It's a very sheer white shiny-finish polish that has a somewhat gel-like consistency which I like.
