I have this in black and brown, so I decided to get ot in purple. I love it. The color is pretty and long lasting. I don't like how long it takes to come off.

Compared to every other pencil/ non-liquid eyeliner I've ever used, this lasts the longest and wont rub off as easily during the day. Yet, it is also super blend-able, allowing you to create a smokey eye, but can also be applied to create a very fine, precise line as well.
The violet shade is also wonderful, creating a subtle pop of color to brighten your eyes, without being dramatic or too obviously a shade that isn't black or brown.
Great Product!!

I like the color of this eyeliner. The purple really makes my green eyes pop. It also glides on nicely and smudges well with my brown eyeliner (I mix the two for a subtler purple effect). This doesn't last all day though. I would rely on it for a night out, but when I put it on in the morning, it isn't really there by the evening. It also is an unusual size/shape stick and I'm worried sharpening it will make it wonky. I wish this came in a twist up instead. This is good for everyday use to add a bit of color, so I will continue using it and may buy it again.

Pros:
-none
Cons:
-tugs
-color doesn't live up to name - it's a simple plum color
-smudges very easy
-waxy
-NOT liquid intensity
-smudges
Overall, I was fine with this product, as I don't wear very much eye liner and this was given to me by my mother. This product is great if you're just smudging color into your lash line, but it doesn't live up to it's name, nor what the product is intended for. It doesn't even compare to a liquid liner, and it tugs like crazy. It isn't smooth or creamy. It's waxy and hard. The Wet n Wild $1 eyeliners are creamier than this one.
Save your money.

I must be the only person lately who likes this. o.O
I had a coupon for CG eye products, so I picked this up at the store. I already have awesome blues and greens from UD, and I have a really good gel-pencil liner in black, if you're wondering why I didn't pick up the others.
Swatched on my hand in the car, it was less blue-purple and more of a plum. I was mildly put out, but whatever. I put it on at home--and it didn't tug or anything to me, so I'm sort of baffled--and put a few layers on to up the pigmentation. Still a pretty normal medium plum color. By medium, I mean it didn't turn out super dark even with a few passes.
So THEN, curious person that I am, I decided to try it on my lower waterline, "what do I have to lose?" were my infamous words. Nothing special happened, but I could tell that it made my eyes subtly more defined (for reference, I have SUPER dark black lashes, and dark gold-brown eyes). Y'know, "that's fine" I thought.
And then I went to bed and forgot all about it.
I NEVER DO THIS.
That is because 1) it's begging for an infection and 2) I don't adore waking up with eyeliner on my pillow, my cheeks and my hands (wtf??).
But the kicker is--I didn't even REMEMBER I had the eyeliner on until I brushed my teeth, washed my face, put in my contacts and I was like, "Hey, my eyes are--"
"HOLY CRAP I FORGOT TO TAKE OFF MY EYELINER"
and yet there it was, perfectly intact. Sitting on my waterline, just chillin', like it was no big deal.
It didn't end up on my soft contact lenses, and to date I have had no signs of any infection.
I do not know what this pencil is made of, but whatever it is, it's amazing.
***Albeit, yes, to ME, it's a subtle, work-appropriate plum shade. Bear in mind I typically wear hot pink or teal eyeshadow on a daily basis. I don't understand the concept of "subtle" when it comes to my eyes. XD

I will never ever ever get this product again. 4 uses. 4 nasty green pus filled eye infections. I'm a dullard for not figuring it out sooner.

About me: NW13 (neutral-cool toned, very fair), blue eyes, Color season is True Summer, Baumann Skin Type is OSPW.
This is not a good product. Do not buy. First, it is very hard to apply and tugs at your eyelid, even after you may try to warm it up. Also, the color is not true to the packaging. Instead of a plummy shade, it appears very dark, almost eggplant-ish. Not very flattering. There are too many good liners out there to re-purchase.
EDIT: I purchased a second one, and it goes on nice and creamy? Weird. Also, the color is slightly lighter and is a lovely plum. Still the inconsistency is... not good.

UGH! This was one of those products I bought on a whim because I didn't have Makeup Alley. The Light Blue and Neon Green looked SO pretty! I decided that if I really liked how the Violet Voltage one applied, I would get those later. I paid $8.99 at CVS for this little stick.
I think the most surprising thing was that it needs to be sharpened. Nothing on the packaging suggested do. You need a good shapener, no pencil sharpeners!! I learned that the hard way :( My bathroom now has blocks of purple pigment EVERYWHERE! The pigment just falls off the pencil! I want to call the company to get a refund, which I have never had to do before. I wasted 9 dollars and an entire day trying to get this to work! !! I was outraged. I only got my left eye done, and it wasn't even that good. I think I will be calling their offices. If you are reading this, DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw Drew Barrymore wearing this in a magazine ad, and I was *so* excited to use it.
Color was great, but I got an absolutely DISGUSTING eye infection the three times I used this eyeliner. It was definitely due to this product. I even swabbed it with alcohol and sharpened it way down to make sure. I only had the liner on for a few hours this last time, and I took it off as soon as I got home. When I woke up, I had nasty, pus-filled eyes that were glued shut. I'll never buy another Cover Girl eyeliner.
I see that two other reviewers had the same problem as me, and I do not consider myself to have particularly senstive eyes. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.

This eyeliner creased onto my upper eyelids almost immediately. When I put eyeshadow on top it helped but then the color turned purple black (I used a purple eyeshadow) instead of purple. On it's own I loved the color but between the color issues (it turning black) and the staying issues, not worth $10. I can find cheaper ones that work as well or more expensive ones that work better. It got returned.

I was disappointed with this liner. It doesn't look at all like a liquid liner when applied, and doesn't go on very smoothly. The color is pretty, but not the intense purple I expected.

I bought this mostly because of the vibrant purple color. It isn't as bright as the packaging suggests, in fact this is a dead ringer for Clinique's Grape Quickliner. It did apply smoothly but had little staying power. I had no issues with tugging or pigmentation like other
reviewers. I will use this up but won't buy any more colors in this range.

Yes, the colour is pretty, but the product is not very pigmented (it will take several swipes for an opaque colour), it smears a lot, the smudgers tugs at your eyes, it seems to evaporate throughout the day, and it can make you look a bit like a druggy with pink eyes if you are not careful with it. If you like this colour, try the Smashbox limitless eyeliner in Black Violet. The colour is similar, but it has much better staying power.

I bought this in the "Violet Voltage" color. I thought if it is advertised to look like liquid eyeliner but easier to put on, it should be super-smooth and vibrant. It did not go on smoothly- I had to go back and forth about three times to get a solid line. When I got it on, it was a muted plum color- definately not worthy of the "voltage" in the color name. It was really hard to put on over eyeshadow, and the color was covered up when I put shadow on top of it. I never understand the "smudger tip" on the opposite end either- it seems like color will just build up on it, and a q-tip or finger will work just fine. If i tried to smudgethis one, I imagine it would disappear altogether. Same quality as NYC or Wet'N Wild, but twice as much.

I was looking for purple eyeliner pencils lately & there aren't a lot of options out there in the purple range. This is one of the liners I bought.
I dislike this product - the color is nice, but the formula (although somewhat creamy) is way too stiff & dry for smooth application - tugs at delicate eye skin a lot! The smudger tip is the same - too much work to smudge & excessive skin tugging. I feel like I'm rubbing a pencil eraser on my eyes & it leaves my eyes feeling irritate & sore. Maybelline Define-A-Line automatic pencil with smudger tip is MUCH better than this - smooth, creamy & the smudger is soft & gentle.
Cover Girl gives me all this trouble for $9? I could find better pencils at half the price & in better packaging (Palladio Herbal Eye Liner 'Exotic Plum' is almost the same color & costs $4.50). I'll never waste money on this pencil again. Two lippies for nice eggplant color & nothing else.

I saw this eyeliner in a magazine and wanted to try it out. It's not a bad price for a drugstore eyeliner. The color is a nice in between purple, not too light, but not too dark. I also like that there's a smudger on the end. I've only used this eyeliner a handful of times and noticed that the product fades pretty easily. I do however, like the consistency of the product, it glides on nicely. I won't be purchasing this again, but do not have regrets on spending only $8.

I have been looking for a real, color-packed truly purple eyeliner for quite some time (it brings out the hazel eyes, don't you know) and I picked this up almost entirely on a whim. I'm glad I did!
I just used it for the first time this morning and was so pleased at the smooth application. I didn't have to fight with my eyes for an even look, and the color is perfect: a deep, dramatic violet that's subtle enough for daytime, but bound to be a great accent for nighttime.
It's a CoverGirl product so the packaging is pretty standard, and this is one of their more expensive liners, but with a coupon it's definitely worth it. I'm so happy to have found a great violet eyeliner at last!

My feelings about this product are just kind of "meh". I loved the commercials and the marketing for these products and I figured they would be kind of like MAC power kohls. I picked up Violet Voltage because I didn't own any other pencils like it. It's just..okay. The color is nice but I figured it would be deeper and more intense than it actually is. Looks great with anything violet or blue based. I wouldn't buy this particular color again but I would try the black or the brown if I ran out and needed a drugstore liner. The packaging is nice and I like the smudge tip on the end.

I have a love/hate relationship with most things Cover Girl. Either they blow me away, or leave me completely disappointed. Regardless, this stuff is very good. Goes on easily and stays put throughout the day. The color is a neat dark purple that makes your eyes pop nicely. Overall, a great product from Cover Girl, for a change. However, this is the only color that appeals to me in this collection. Have a million black eyeliners already.
Update: I got a nasty eye infection after using this. The only other eyeliner to give me an eye infection was Wet & Wild. And I use Stila Kajal liner all the time and have never, ever gotten an eye infection, and that stuff is all over the place. Sorry, but I cannot recommend this eyeliner.
