I have naturally strawberry blonde hair & LOVED this product! I had previously tried Sun-In and unfortunately it brought out the strawberry highlites in my hair instead of the blonde. SUN STREAKS worked fabulously! I have very long hair that costs a bundle to have highlighted in a salon. So I would french braid it & put in some SUN STREAKS. I loved that it was a gel & I could just put some here & there where I wanted to lighten up. Then go spend the day outside in the sun doing things & when I took it down & washed it at night it was perfectly sun-kissed! (and looked like I'd had it done in a salon too) Also worked with a hair dryer (in a pinch). The price for it was extremely reasonable & I wish it were still available!! I'd go stock up on it because even though after a few years it did go kind of liquidy, I then put it into a spray bottle & used it that way & got same effects!

Ahhh!!! This stuff was amazing and there is nothing else like it, I can't believe they discontinued it :( so many women loved it. It works really well at bringing natural, subtle, beautiful hightlights out in your hair. The only reason it has been d/c is because of people (like those who gave it bad reviews) who had been misusing the product >:(, thanks a lot for spoiling it for the rest of us!

Sun Streaks was a HG of mine for a few years, that is until it was DISCONTINUED! On my naturally dark blonde, sort of blah hair, it recreated the summer highlights of my childhood, gradually and ever so naturally. The results were never fake or brassy, and no one would have ever guessed that I coloured my hair. But alas, I now have to "really" colour my hair if I want to escape my natural dishwater hue. Sigh.

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE product...this stuff should be banned from shelves! It is very effective for lightening hair-did a great job getting rid of my roots one day at the beach. However, the aftermath is that it weakens hair to the point of breaking. When we color our hair, most of us probably never leave it on all day! Nor should we repeat the process several times a week to get the desired result! This product should come with strict warnings about breakage if not used only once in a while, for a little while.
For you other victims, you should call John Frieda and tell them what happened. They sent me a label to mail it back to them for free and sent like $20 worth of coupons for free JF merchandise.
At least the company owns up to its mistakes.

I really didn't like this product. I have long hair so the gel thing didn't work out to well for me, and I really didn't notice much of a difference. Good old Sun-In works better then this.

It goes bad after a year. It turns to liquid. But the gel does a good job coloring.

Oh Lordie, did I ever ruin my hair with this stuff. I made the gargantuan mistake of using it more than once a week and dried out my beautiful hair. It broke off, fell out and turned drier and stiffer than a bale of hay. Ick. Never again. It's PEROXIDE, folks.

Uh every time I hear of this product I cringe! I bought this 2 summers ago and left it in my hair all day while I was out in the sun... when I went to go take a shower, my hair came out in CLUMPS! This product dried like glue to my SCALP and i had to peel it off which took out SO MUCH OF MY HAIR. This was definately the worst hair experience I have ever had and I will never buy this product again. Maybe it is because I left it in for so long, but I will still not take my chances with this product again.

This product is great for blondes who want to touch up their roots. I use it under the sun, blowdryer, or even without heat to cover my dark roots. It colors well without damaging my hair.

I love this product! I hated shelling out tons of money for highlights, and I saw this in CVS and couldn't resist the under-$7 price tag. When applied, it made my highlights much blonder, and my base color was kicked up a couple notches, too. It won't make you platinum blonde, but it does work well to just give a bit more golden tones. I used a blowdryer with great effects.

Hey, it works! I used this to touch up roots just like some other people and it really extended the life of my color, for comparative pennies. No complaints, especially with the washing-out trick!

This product is amazing. Last summer I was really running low on funds before my wedding and didn't want to pay for highlights in the spring. So I bought this stuff and applied it each day to my roots and then sat in a tanning bed for 20 minutes. Perfect! I never really liked using it with a hairdryer...but in a tanning bed - it worked GREAT! I only wanted my roots done, so I just applied to my roots and put my hair up in a high bun. I got so many compliments on the color of my hair (it's confused - brown - all shades and blonde - all shades) hehe.

I still have my tube from last year...but I would repurchase again in the future! I just wish it wasn't a "gel"...that's why I took off 1 lippie

This stuff does work and the best part of all is, it's very effective under a hairdryer. It's gradual too so you can wash it off before it brings you too light or brassy. I love it. It is a gel so yes, if you don't rinse it out, it will make your hair straw like. And wash your hands after imediately after or you'll have a not so nice surprise! But I give it a rating of 4...good stuff for the price.

This product gives natural, subtle highlights. Greater precision than foils or cap.

It costs $8 - compare that to the $120+ charge of Manhattan salons....

I'm in LOVE with this stuff! It gives me the gradual, natural-looking streaky highlights I used to pay through the nose for at the salon. Right before showering, I just pat it all over the outermost layers of my hair, work it through a little with my fingers (wash hands right away afterwards) and putter around with nails, masque, brows, brushing teeth etc. etc. and after a while I warm it up with my hair dryer (or not) and then hop into the shower. After a couple uses I now have beautiful golden blonde streaks that look better than I ever got with foils !!!

I know my review below says that I loved it, but my hair stylist says that it is the reason my hair is breaking off. She says that it isn't a good idea to use it, so I stopped.

I LOVED THIS PRODUCT!!!!! 4 all those people who say "it leaves your hair like straw", YOU HAVE TO WASH IT OUT! ITS A GEL! IF YOU DONT WASH IT OUT IT WILL WORK JUST LIKE GEL!! This product isn't a drastic change. You have to use it a lot if you want REALLY noticeable hightlights, but thats good. People can choose how light or dark they want their highlights. The highlights aren't orange either! This is the best product ever! Its in my hair right now! I'm using it for the second time! I LOVE IT! Perfect for inexpensive highlights!

It seems to work okay, but it's very drying. I have normal hair and it felt kind of strawlike after using this. People with dry hair should definitely stay away.

Oooh, this is perfect for the in-between time of highlights! I LOVE IT. The great thing about it is that it looks natural, not orangey at all!
