This is my first NARS polish, and it will not be the last. I probably have over 500 bottles of nail polish in my collection (yes I have a problem), and I don't have one that compares to this polish. First, the formula is phenomenal, richly pigmented and smooth as silk. It could be a one-coater with careful application. The color is absolutely gorgeous and the shine is amazing. It is purple in all kinds of light, never black like some dark polishes. But it isn't garish, still very sophisticated. It is the perfect blend of the qualities I look for in a polish. Purple compliments my skin like nothing else, and this one is my favorite. A bit pricey, but worth it, unlike Chanel which is pricey, but the quality is not there. This one is amazing. If you love purple, it's a must have!

This is the only Nars polish I own, I had to have it, I love Prince and I love purple, I had no choice! It's the most beautiful purple polish I have seen, dark and intense with a hint of shimmer. It applied easily despite the horrid bottle/cap shape and was opaque in 2 coats. Would repurchase.

My only gripe is the blocky handle, I thought it would be a pull-off like other HE polishes. Other than that I call this *shimmering sauce of purple satisfaction*. Now if you are put off by the price try China Glaze Lets Groove for a very close dupe. I have both because my yearning for the "real thing" won out over common sense. *Must have* color in my opinion.

This is a lovely bright royal purple - neither particularly blue nor red tinged but somewhere in the middle (does that make it a true purple?). There are flecks of blue and red shimmer in this polish but the red shimmer seems to be more obvious. It's quite dark but definitely not black - you can always tell that it's purple and thats what I love about this polish. Under a good topcoat it almost looks like a foil finish rather than a straightforward shimmer.

I got the mini version of this with a few other polishes. I found the brush to be a little small and fiddly and the formula to be quite gloopy. The first coat was very streaky but the second applied smoothly and I ended up with a nice opaque finish. I got bubbles on my right hand (ie I applied it with my non dominant hand) but the other looks fine.

I applied Chanel's extreme shine topcoat which makes the shimmer really pop.

Lovely colour and I would definitely repurchase.

This is by far the best purple in my collection and probably the best purple I have ever seen. The colour is so rich and the shimmer is strong without being garish. It's absolutely beautiful, the perfect vampy, shimmery polish that is still chic. Few polishes come closer to perfection than Purple Rain.

In terms of the polish quality, I am blown away. It seems to have a very thin consistency but it's so smooth to apply it glides on like a dream. It's also incredibly pigmented, with proper application you could get by with just one coat. I find that it dries faster than the standard polish which is always appreciated. I'm usually able to throw on two thin coats in a hurry and be good to go. It dries so fast you don't have to worry about smudging.

In my experience, the wear time is better than OPI, China Glaze, and Essie. In my collection, only Butter London beats NARS for length of wear. I'm a student so I'm constantly typing away and too busy to constantly reapply chipped polish. Wear time is very important to me and NARS has been able to deliver.

The packaging is unique and sufficiently functional. It really stands out among other nail polish bottles but is still very chic and understated. The squared top is a little awkward to maneuver at first but you get used to it quickly. The brush applies the polish well and is not too thin or too thick like OPI.

The price is a serious downfall. This is incredibly expensive for a nail polish. Now of course we all have different interpretations of expense. At least with this product you are getting a level of quality that is pretty worthy of the price tag.

Overall, I highly recommend. The colour is stunning and the NARS formula is fantastic.

This was one of my first and is my favourite nail polish. This color is so beautiful, purple being my favourite color =] The formula is awesome and the Nars bottle packaging makes it simple. I love the material of the bottle twist cap because it's not slippery and I can have a good hold on it when applying. I love NARS Nail Polishes.

Finally, my search for a rich, deep purple that doesn't look black on my very fair NW15 skin is over. I've lost count of how many dark purples I've returned, exchanged, or tossed. Nars' Purple Rain is a gorgeous deep, rich royal purple and always looks purple in all sources of light. It will never be mistaken for black, even in dim lighting. I put it on both my fingernails and toenails one week ago. It wears like iron. No chipping or peeling at all. I love it on my toes and will contintue to wear it on my toes even in business settings when I'm wearing peep-toe pumps. But on my hands, um, no, not again. Not in a business setting, not in everyday life. I'm a young 50 and try to stay hip, urban, and modern, yet age appropriate. But I, personally, do not feel age appropriate rocking Purple Rain on my fingers (why I gave it four lippies instead of five). But on my toes, absolutely.

Purple Rain is a beautiful deep purple nail polish from NARS. However, I have quite a bunch of purple nail polish and this does not stand out enough to justify a repurchase. Lovely quality though. It was the first nail polish from NARS that I've tried and I'm impressed by the quality and will definitely try more colors in the future.

This is hands-down the best purple nail polish I've ever used. It looks absolutely beautiful with my fair skin. It is the one purple that I've found to be a true deep purple (I've tried OPI and drugstore brands, and all of them have been either too blue or too pink). The subtle hint of shimmer makes it eye-catching, but not so much so that it makes my nails look cartoonish. I never thought I would find a purple that looked so sophisticated.

I am a HUGE purple fan and this is one of the best purple polishes that I have tried! It is a duo chrome polish with a deep blueish purple base and a reddish purple shimmer. One coat practically gives full coverage and it's not sticky. I thought the price was a little steep, but the texture and colour of this polish is amazing!

The stores were closing and I needed a dark polish for the dreaded Xmas office party. Passing by the NARS counter I saw this deep purple color in amongst all the other polishes. In fact I swear I heard Prince humming his familiar tune 'Purple Rain'. It was love at first sight. This glides on like a dream covering in just one coat. I'm sure two coats is even better but I fear the thick polish look. It wears beautifully especially with a clear top coat for xtra shine. I dig dark polish on shorter nails and this is just so stunning! Definitely a classic color.

Beautiful deep purple color with pink, blue and red undertones. It's very elegant and glamorous. Perfect for fall, winter, holiday parties.
I love purple np and this one is just gorgeous. With Gelous base and Seche Vite top coat, this np last 5-6 days without chipping.
I only wish the brush was a bit bigger.

I was wary of purchasing a Nars nail lacquer because I absolutely hated Orgasm. But this color was too divine to pass up. And I was pleasantly surprised! It's a very classy purple with subtle shimmers. And the most impressive thing is the staying power. I always expect dark polish to chip rapidly or start to look faded and that is not the case with this one. I wish Nars would apply that to all of their formulations!

Words cannot express how beautiful I find Purple Rain to be. I knew from the moment I saw it on Sephora's website that I simply had to have it. It is expensive but is completely worth it. It's opaque in one coat, which makes the bottle last a bit longer, so you do get a good number of manicures with it. With a good bottom and top coat this polish will last a full 5-7 days on me. The color is simply divine--the essence of vampy, gothic purple. I love mine so much I'm considering buying a second bottle in case Nars discontinues this color anytime soon.

I would like to see more glitters in this polish, and the color did not show as it did in the bottle, but the color stays without chipping and I really enjoy it and have a peace of mind. I would porbably use it with the glitter for more texture.

Okay so I was at Sephora shopping for and eyeliner when my eyes fell on this bottle of vibrant shade of purple nail polish and right then and there, it was love at first sight, LOL. I absolutely love this nail polish, I think it's worth every penny! It's long lasting (got my toe nails done 2 weeks ago, and they're still the same as when I got them done) The color of this nail polish is known as "Gothic" purple and when the light hits the color it shimmers and brings out other hues.
My skin tone is Tan with Olive under tones, so if you're worried about having dark skin color and this shade of purple not looking good on you, worry no more! I think this shade of purple is suitable for every skin tone :).

This is a beautiful deep purple that looks wonderful on my skin, even though I am quite pale. In the sun the colour shimmers and is very multidimensional. Aside from the hefty price tag, 21$, it's fantastic. <3 It hardly chips and I put my nails through alot of wear and tear, and it lasts forever when you apply a top coat every once in a while.

I love Nars polishes, but I hate the price. Consequently I only own three, but they're fantastic. This is one of them, and like the other Nars polishes I have it's unique, goes on like a dream, wears extremely well, and is very flattering on me. It's a beautiful vibrant purple, with pink micro-glitter, but it's very subtle. I was a little worried that I might have something too similar because most of my polishes are purple, but though it may look similar to other in the bottle, once it's on my nails it's unlike anything else. I would absolutely buy this again and again.

Purple is my favorite color and I have a lot of purple polishes. A lot. Out of all of them, this is by far my favorite. I saw swatches of it Scrangie's blog and elsewhere and fell in love with it but I told myself there was NO way I would EVER spend $16 on a nail polish. I was very wrong. I've been wearing this almost exclusively since purchasing it. The depth of the color just makes me want to stare at it all day. In certain lights you can catch blue glitter along with the pink that is always visible. This is a vampy color but it never looks black. The formula is excellent, not very thick but not terribly runny either. It was mostly opaque with one coat but I did two for good measure. I honestly never thought I'd spend so much on a polish but I will do it again because I don't want to ever be without this color.

This is my new favorite nail polish. The color is gorgeous and rich, a deep purple base with pink microglitter. A very multi-dimensional and complex color. I don't usually spend $17 on nail polish but I would repurchase this in a heartbeat. The color stays true and doesn't look black on your nails.

Update: It has been a month and I find myself coming back to this nail polish every other application. I will put another color on and after a few days I'm sick of it and immediately come back to Purple Rain.
